A quite Sunday chilling with great beer. The real ale was spot on and well kept. If you in the area pop in it will be worth it. They have live music every Friday and are only a short walk from the centre of Chester.

The roast dinner is absolutely beautiful.Ordered a delivery several times and the food has been perfect. Great home cooked Sunday dinner. Delivery has always been fast,cannot find fault in anything.

First time back in about 8 years and still a good friendly pub. Prices good as well. As Arnie says " I will be back"

Celebrated our daughters 1st birthday 🎂 with 20 guests .Food was outstanding along with the customer service. We stayed over at the lodge in their grounds which was above and beyond our expectations.

Great local pub in the heart of Handbridge, good food and drink to be had, along with a warm welcome from the staff.

A proper community pub. Such a brilliant atmosphere and every event is welcoming. It’s family run and the bar staff are all very friendly and pour an excellent pint.

I visited visited the Carlton for the 1st time last night. It was their open mike night and it was amazing.There was one singer guitarist there who was particularly amazing. He did a rendition of the Temptation's 'Papa was a Rolling Stone', one of my favourite all time songs. I cant remember ever having heard it being done so well. He had the most amazing diverse voice, he seemed to be able to do anything with it, from the highest register, to the lowest bass. Least to say I'll be back. I should add that I met some very nice, friendly people

Much improved since my last rating a while ago, decent pint, heard they had a few issues with cooling and the cellar etc, seems to be sorted. Live mike night on a Tuesday if you like your music. 👍

Had a fantastic roast dinner delivered, large portions,real home cooked food,delivered piping hot by nicest driver. Spoke to lovely landlady to order who went above and beyond. I ordered extra roast potatoes and Cauliflower cheese,even these where massive portions all cooked so nicely. And the cheesecake we had was to die for,homemade lotus with strawberries on side. Again bug portion.

0/5 stars for Customer Service. First time attending the pub as my family have moved to the area. Went inside the pub to go to use the toilets as we were sat outside. Male member of staff asked if I was okay I explained I was looking for the toilet he replied "IT WOULD BE POLITE TO ASK" in an aggressive and angry manner. He then dissapeared before I could explain I'm a customer. Disgusting behaviour towards a young woman, you should be ashamed.
