This is one of my favourite places in Chester. Phenomenal wine selection and really knowledgeable and friendly staff. The rotisserie chicken is superb and my new Sunday afternoon routine is to go in and relax with a newspaper, chicken and wine!

Absolutely fabulous. Atmosphere great, staff equally good, service quick and efficient despite being really busy. Favourite place in Chester. Food is lovely and so vast a range of wines, which they are happy to help with finding the one to your taste, thank you all at Paysan.

Fantastic place, the staff are really polite and attentive. We had a cheese board and some lovely wine too. And an absolute gem of for a beer lover hidden upstairs within is the Cavern of the Curious Gnome. With an amazing choice of beers on tap and bottled. Just brilliant for people watching and relaxing. Really good value, will definitely be back!!

We’ve never had a bad glass of wine at Paysan- massive selection and expertly selected. Upstairs an impressive selection of ales and not forgetting the brilliant chicken and chips

Beautiful wine and chilled, relaxed atmosphere. Paysan means "Peasant" - and Paysan certainly lives up to that with a snobbery-free wine bar. Always has excellent choice , helpful and down to earth staff... And a marvellous cheese board.

Stopped for a quick drink and bit of food before an event at the storyhouse. Was absolutely lovely, brilliant selections of wines by the glass and the bottle. Me & friend both had cheeseboard which was plenty for a quick snack. Great atmosphere, busy but not overly crowded

We only drank, exceptional service, great wine selection and superb atmosphere, I was lucky enough to be here whilst they were playing ‘The Suburbs’ by Arcade Fire in full! Great place 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Stunning, atmospheric and historic venue for a pint of ale or a bottle from the lengthy and original wine list. Will come back for the cheese!

A very simple menu giving a choice of chicken and chips or veggie chilli. Both very tasty. We also had a cheese board. Cracking cheese, Gromit!
