Updated review: So normally I’ve able to proceed through here easily but tonight they decided to change up with how the drive thru service works I guess. Ended up sitting behind someone who was waiting at the window for about 15 minutes since it seemed like the workers knew them and spent the whole time talking with the car who ended up sitting there for an extra 10 minutes after getting their order apparently since they drove off without having been handed anything at that time. Once at the window ended up spending about 2 minutes waiting for our order so now I was even more confused as to why the previous person had been there for so long. Honestly, not recommending going here if this is the kind of service they’ll be having since good ice cream can only make up for so much. Definitely recommend the arctic coolers, good service and quick too. Gets busy at times but the line moves fast

My oh my this place is delicious! We are visiting from Utah and have been here two nights in a row. Their Italian ice is thick yet soft! I recommend the mixed berry or mango. Both delicious! The arctic cooler is a delight. Half soft serve ice cream and half Italian ice! The Tommy’s turtle is absolutely amazing. Their pecans they put in their are from a different world!

I’ve have been to Zarlengo’s for many times since I was a kid (after soccer games, at school, with family, with friends, now with husband). Lots of good memories here. I think there something on the menu for everyone. My husband loves the gelato. I like the Oreo sundae (with cookie dough added). I love the Italian ice. My sister always gets a Boston Shake. My brother likes the hot apple dumpling sundae. I highly recommend this place.

Extremely disappointed in the customer service! As I understand it, Sunday’s are the busiest day of the week and unfortunately, they had a mechanical failure. Rather than notifying the customer it would take an hour to get a scoop of ice cream, they allowed everyone to stay trap in line and not until AFTER WE PAID, did someone communicate what’s going on. This was the worst display of customer service I’ve seen. I’ll never go back. NO ICE CREAM IS WORTH THE HASSLE!

I love this place! The ice cream is delicious and the staff is very friendly. I make a trip at least once a week to get their Italian ice. Highly recommended!

My son went to Zarlengo’s on a field trip in pre-school. He’s 14 now and have not stopped talking about how good his ice cream was. I visited and tried for the first time 1 week ago. I have returned 4 X’s! This is AMAZING ice cream & Italian ice! The customer service and smiles are just as amazing. Every emp. I’ve encountered have been wonderful! I absolutely LOVE Sophia! For these reasons, I can’t stop going. If you haven’t tried Zarlengo’s, when you do, you won’t stop going for more either! M. Parker.

My first time here. There was a long line, but had an employee out taking orders to speed the process up. I got a Reese’s chipper. Wow, it was SO good! Next time I will get pictures!

Great local spot to get gelato and Italian ice! So many great flavors that are regular and seasonal! All the flavors are so good I can’t pick just one!

Having worked as a chef for almost 15 years in my past at some of Chicago’s premiere dining establishments I do not know how they make such AMAZING Italian ice. Both the flavor and the texture…they are my absolute favorite in chicago. If they were a little bit closer I’d likely be 10lbs heavier. Must try their Italian ice.

Excellent Ice Cream, and after being at places who serve ice cream, all over the states, this place is honestly in my top five. They also have gelato and Italian Ice that you will understand how it should have been made at every other place. Zarlengos is a 30 year old family run business that gets better & better as time goes on. Todd, Tom's son is one of the smartest people I've come to know and carries the family's legacy with admiration and a complete vision, that will carry it on from generation to generation. Tom has created a masterpiece and the way he carries himself rooted in class and a deep sense of empathy is why he's so successful. Definitely recommend this hidden treasure in Chicago Heights. #Unbeatable

Ice cream and Italian ice is excellent. The issue that I have is the drive thru lines. Two lines merge into one line which can cause some issues. There is no organization to the lines, which can cause some major problems. Need to figure out the unorganized drive-thru situation before there incidents.

First time I came here and I could say that I have very much had better. I would rather go farther to Vinny D’s to get better Mango Italian Ice that doesn’t taste sour. Only good thing that was good was the twinkle topping, not even the soft serve was good it tasted weird and barely had flavor. Might as well switch to frozen custard.

We went here after my peers at school said I needed to try it. I must say it was amazing! I had the bananas foster Gelato and it was like I was eating an actual bananas foster! All of the flavors were right on point. I'm hooked and will definitely be back.

Always efficient, friendly, and consistent satisfaction. Hop in the car with some friends and enjoy a good old fashion conversation with family or the people you love - yah know, the folks in your car with you... while you wait for your treat. I love their Italian ice and fresh soft serve. Speciality Sundaes and Blasters are always delish. The line may look long, but it moves quick and it's worth it. Make it a date night! Enjoy!

What I got tasted good, yet it came with a side of attitude. I had to wait 50@ minutes in line with only 3 cars in front of me and only 2 cars received orders through the window (one of the two was my car) by the time I got to the window I was Able to pull up a full menu on their Facebook page with tons of custom flavors. To which I asked for several while the girl at the window casually kept asking another young lady in the background "do we have this or that flavor?" The young lady in the background seemed so much more interested in her side conversation with another young male I could hear nasal snarks her huffing and puffing and even her smacking her teeth between being asked if the current flavors listed on their Facebook page were available. At one point she even snapped at the girl and it sounded as if it was directed towards me "what is she talking about!, We don't sell that!?" In the most disgusting and disrespectful tone it made my eyebrows go up. Finally I ordered 'something' the cashier then tells me cash only. I got a 4oz scoop of what I felt like was "whatever'. The only good thing I experienced at this merchant was the fact that I went to the bank the previous day and still had money left over to cover the cost. Not going back!

My favorite flavor is the brown sugar cinnamon, Oreo cheesecake & pumpkin flavored gelato! I rarely get the Italian ice but, the oranges & cream flavor is AMAZING!!!🙌🏼🫶🏽 I ABSOLUTELY love how they are open year round now!

Was excited to try this place after seeing the reviews. Drove 20 minutes to come here only to find out they only accept cash. In this day and age, who still carries around cash, and they should update their site to make it know they only accept cash before people make their trip here. Anywho, next time I come across cash, I’ll be happy to come back to try their Italian ice.

This place has been around for decades for a reason. I've never felt like anything I've gotten from there wasn't worth it. Please do yourself a favor and check out this local staple; they have just about any Italian ice flavor worth ordering (ask for availability from day to day!) as well as sundaes, gelato, and more. Once you find your favorites, you can get them in take-home pints and quarts as well!

Always a staple every. single. summer! You won't beat the quality here. It will always be a hit every time. The gelato is great and packed with flavor. The ice cream is decadent and creamy. The blasters are phenomenal. Thank me later.
