We literally got every single flavor during our first time here. Why miss out, we thought? Our absolute favorites are the Andean, Smoky Mushrooms, and Tinga. Paired with their garlic sauce, you will not be disappointed. Both sweet options were great as well. The only letdown for me was the Lumpia empanada. As a Filipino, I didn’t taste anything remotely close to lumpia in this. It tasted more like a typical Chinese restaurant egg roll (which does not make it a lumpia). That said, a 1 out of 10 flavor mishap is not enough for me to dock my rating, because I absolutely enjoyed everything else. Oh and major, major plus points for these being VEGAN. There was no compromise in the flavor of the dough or the fillings. They absolutely aced it. Definitely give them a try.

Wonderful experience here at Fons Empanadas!! Staff was super friendly and personable when I entered the restaurant. Provided feedback and suggestions on what to order. Even pointed out a new menu item that they were testing out. The empanadas came out quick and we're super HOT! I enjoyed the Tinga and mushroom empanadas. I didn't miss meat for a second while I was there. They were super filling and had the texture of meat. Tinga had a little spice to it which I enjoyed and the crust was super light and airy. As for the mushroom empanada it was a nice compliment, but Tinga stole the show. Awesome time here and will definitely be back to check out more of the menu.

Attractive colors but not super attractive pastry. I’ve been wanted to try so long after some farmers market. Only imperfect empanadas are 2.50 on Tuesday and others are like $4. The pastry part was a lot and either burnt or no flavor at all. Even felt like it’s almost dry. Little disappointed.

Empanada shoppe ! Vegan! Flavors are great! Good textures. Cute storefront. Nice people. Though “plant based” still very flavorful. Don’t pass up.

The empanadas were great! We tried a few different ones and my favorite ones were the margherita and smoky mushroom! They’re surprisingly really filling and the garlic sauce is delicious. The shop itself is small and cute (perfect for take out) and the service was really good! They have a couple of tables outside if you are wanting to eat there.

We picked up Fons Empanadas at the South Loop Farmer's Market and loved trying all the flavors. All of them are 100% vegan and 100% delicious! They come frozen are super easy to cook and even easier to enjoy! They are now available on apps like GrubHub and UberEats as well. - Asian Lumpia: Asian style smoked cabbage and carrots wrapped in a palatable sriracha & paprika dough - Jackfruit Tinga: Slow simmered onions and jackfruit in a chipotle and garlic sauce, enveloped in a tasty carrot dough - Corn Poblano: Turmeric scented dough filled with sweet corn and poblano peppers - Smoky Mushrooms: Smoky mezcal-garlic mushrooms in a greeny spinach dough - Jackfruit Ropa Vieja: Aromatic Cuban style shredded beef jackfruit in a mouthwatering chia dough - Andean Beyond Meat & Rice: Yummy beet dough filled with savory andes style ground beyond meat and rice The variety of unique flavors make these empanadas unforgettable! Our favorites were the jackfruit tinga, corn poblano, and Beyond Meat and rice ,although they were all tasty.

Pro tip: on Tuesdays you can buy “imperfect” empanadas for only $2.50 each (pictured) I’ve bought a few boxes of fons by now and just moved right up the street from it! I have to say this is one of my favorite places to get a snack in the whole city. It’s so impressive how they can make the fillings taste so different from one another and also taste like meat and cheese! I love the small business feel of this place and am a frequent visitor. My favorites are the jackfruit tinga and the smoky mushroom!

Had an assortment of empanadas delivered as a birthday surprise after mentioning wanting to try them. They were delivered fresh and warm and in beautiful packaging (though I think they were supposed to come in a box). Really enjoyed the Jackfruit Tinga, Sweet Potato Chili and Mushroom. Pulled bbq, beyond meat and chocolate banana were ok. The garlic dipping sauce was great! In terms of size they were larger than expected and definitely filling. Can’t wait to try more flavors and visit the shop!

I’m stuffed @havingfons empanadas are STUFFED with vegan ingredients. Even their crust is colored because of the natural ingredients. They sent me a box, all of them come frozen ready to be heated up, for a collab with @grabbdapp
