Working in downtown Chicago has been kinda surreal. Covid has left it’s mark so much so that getting a coffee after 3pm requires planning. ESPRESSO AND MILK is right next to the Stage Door of the Lyric Opera and I have been grateful to have found such a conveniently located coffee spot with exceptionaly delicious coffee. The staff has been consistently warm and friendly. The service is always efficient and I make it a point to tip at least 25-30% because I feel like a valued customer every time I visit. ESPRESSO AND MILK has been a wonderful experience for me and I hope this inspires you to appreciate them as much as I have. Cheers! ☕️💛

I had the brown sugar maple iced latte with oat milk. I like my coffee on the sweeter side so I added some more of their house simple syrup and it was perfect. Staff was incredibly sweet and helpful when I was trying to decide what I wanted to try. Would definitely return, 10/10.

Not a coffee person, but genuinely some of the most delicious coffee I’ve ever had. Wait was short, and staff was very polite — Alessia made me a beautiful flamed orange mocha. Not only was it amazing — almost like a terry’s chocolate orange — Alessia made some beautiful art on top, and all and all she was wonderful. Price is cheaper than starbucks and 100% worth it. Thank you guys!

I stumbled upon this lovely shop in the lyric opera building. The baristas were wonderful and very helpful with helping me decide what to order. My drink was made quickly and was absolutely delicious! I got a vanilla latte and the flavor was perfect 🤩 can’t suggest it enough.

This place was hidden and quite unassuming so you may accidentally miss it. It sits right in front of the Lyric Opera building — a cute, quaint little coffee shop with friendly faces and delicious coffee. I had the cold brew with sweet cream and it was amazing! If you work in the area, you have to give them a try.

Super cute coffee shop! Stopped in on my way downtown and was thoroughly impressed with their menu & coffee choices. I was pleasantly surprised they offered Freddo Cappuccinos which I’ve only ever seen offered in Europe. Bravo! Highly recommend!

The independent coffee shop Espresso and Milk was a refreshing change from the usual corporate chains. With no seating inside but a counter, it was ideal for grabbing customized, high-quality espresso drinks to go. The hot honey latte coffee was amazing, and the baristas were skilled at helping me create and make it perfectly. Though I am no coffee connoisseur, this was easily the best coffee I have had recently. This shop is a real gem between the superb drinks, friendly staff, and stylish, minimalist interior. They also have an app for ordering ahead. Next time I am visiting Chicago, I will make a point to stop by again.

Because of the Starbucks boycott I decided to try local coffee shops instead. That's when I found this amazing place – it's cozy, and what makes it special is that they make their own syrups that give each cup a unique taste. The coffee beans they use are fresh. But the real standout is the customer service. The staff goes out of their way to make sure they perfected your coffee. Switching from a big chain like Starbucks to this friendly coffee spot has been a really nice change. I recommend it to anyone who loves real coffee and a friendly atmosphere.

Great spot, not much seating / outside on busy street but great service and a tasty espresso and almond croissant.

Ordered their latte with a shot of vanilla and love it! It's just the right amount of sweetness paired with creamy foam and aromatic espresso. They come in 12 oz and 16 oz sizes. I got a 12 oz for $5.75. Highly recommend it!

One of the best spots in Chicago! This is a local gem. Staff is always kind and the coffee is actually some of the highest quality I have ever had in my life. 11/10 recommend going!

I'm no coffee expert, but I really enjoy getting coffee from different shops, and this is probably the best coffee I've had in the country. Their cold brew was so smooth and refreshing, and I actually liked it better than the nitro cold brew they serve. Make sure to get some of the cold foam/sweet foam on top, it makes it even better.

Cute coffee shop with an assortment of pastries and and snacks. Outdoor patio seating is a plus since the space is so small. The limited time only black sesame latte is excellent and the staff are super nice! Love the cute latte art.

The coffee was great the staff was cool and I like the simple design of the coffee shop, it’s just a shame they are closed on the weekends but whenever I am in Chicago I will definitely be coming here

Very friendly service. We were greeted with a smile and a soft welcome upon entrance. Then walked to the ordering station. Met with an amiable and helpful gentleman who took our order. We ordered a small oat cappuccino, the light filtered coffee, a trail mix cone and a Topo Chico. Price is on par with other third wave coffee places. My oat cap was light and fruity forward. It was very nice and well made. The light roast filtered coffee was exactly that, light with a whiff of roasty warmth. You’re hit with the fruitiness of the beans immediately. Very pleasing start to the day! The trail mix scone was exceptional! Highly recommend!

Had been wanting to try a new coffee shop on my lunch break and stumbled across Espresso and Milk. Ordered the iced brown sugar maple latte. Absolutely delicious. The baristas are all super pleasant, as well. Definitely my new spot in the Loop.

The absolute dearth of decent coffee on this side of the Loop is OVER y’all! Whether you’re a traditional cappuccino gal or more of a house-made syrup queen, there’s a winner (or three) for you at Espresso & Milk. For real, friends, this shop has filled a very real need for a great cafe experience in this area! The drinks are prepared perfectly, the pastry selection is delectable, and the wall of Compartès chocolates is a dream. The best part though? There’s absolutely *zero* snobbery at this otherwise elevated shop. Torched orange peel and Valhrona chocolate mocha with a side of genuinely lovely barista chit chat? I’ll take two!

This place is so beautiful in the opera house and very convenient to Ogilvie. I recommend their house made flavors for the latte - not too sweet in the best way. Great service.

Nice & modern coffee shop that delivers consistently great and creative espresso drinks. The owner is always there, ready to suggest options based on your preferences. Had their Orange Mocha today, which was really good!

When I tasted their cortado, I was so satisfied with the taste. I have been visiting them since instead of blue bottle and their taste has been so much more consistent compared to blue bottle. Great staff who know actually how to extract espresso/steam milk properly and clean environment.
