This tour was absolutely amazing! Our tour guide Kai was very accommodating and made sure we could hear all the history she had to share for us as well as give us some time to take photos and admire everything she was showing us. While the weather was not the best, it was still a tour I'll never forget due in big part to Kai. So, for whoever is reading this, if you ever find yourself in Chicago, definitely take this tour!

The best tour! Braedon was a great guy and new ALOT history. The tour crowd was awesome! It was easy to book, easy to find, and a great way to spend a mid morning learing about Chicago, history, events, and Al Capone.

It was a very great experience. My friend and I were in Chicago celebrating our birthdays and we each chose different activities to do while in Chicago. This gangsta walking tour was my pick because I love hearing anything relating to history but her not so much; but even my friend seemed to enjoy this activity as well. Yes there was a lot of walking and she was a little irritated when I told her how long we would be walking on top of it was very hot the day we went but really she ended up enjoying it too because as people who are not familiar with the area we had someone who was walking us around and showing us a lot of the hot spots in the area this was nice because without the tour guide we would have gotten lost trying to find these different spots which we did get lost on previous Chicago trips and when we were exploring on our own. Even if you have a GPS to help you which we did and it malfunctioned and had us walking more than we wanted to; but with this tour and tour guide he knew exactly how to get around and knew different historical locations. It was nice and we met a lot of cool people within the tour group. Very nice and I plan to do this tour every time I visit Chicago

Great tour around Downtown Chicago. The guide was really cool and amicable. He provided plenty of information, not only about gangsters and ghosts, but also about the history of Chicago. I would recommend going on this tour in the evening, it will enhance the experience.

This was such a great experience. Growing up in Chicago you think you know all the history, but this tour was fantastic in proving that…dead…wrong. This was a last minute, “what should we do tonight” decision, and it was worth every penny. It was great getting to see the gems of Chicago while also hearing amazing and even spooky stories. Our guide, Avery, was so very well spoken, funny, and, insightful. As we went from spot to spot, he even took time to try and personally speak to everyone in the group and get to know them a little better. As we walked around I was happy that we happened to get this “veteran” guide that clearly has been doing this for years, only to find out he was on his second week. Probably the biggest shocker of the night. I highly recommend taking this tour if you are in town, and see if you can request Avery.

Avery was Phenomenal! Giving us a Very informative tour, while making it fun and catering to our questions. Definitely worth the walk! All the while seeing some of Chicago’s Architectural landmarks, including the River Walk and Millennium Park, and ending the tour at the Chicago Cultural Center. So if you are looking for a multiple stop deal, for a great price, while in the downtown area -This is it! Can’t wait until we’re back so we can do it again with our friends and Family! Thanks Avery 🥰

Such a fun way to explore the city and hear the most fascinating stories about mobsters and ghosts in the city of Chicago. Kai, our tour guide was awesome! Super engaging and knowledgeable. Attached are some photos of some of the sights we saw during the tour. We stopped at the Palmer House which had a stunning interior, unique history and the world’s first brownie!

Our tour guide was Connor. He was polite, carried good conversation and informative. The tour itself was fun and learned a lot about gangsters specific to Chicago History. Exactly what we wanted; however, was lacking in the ghosts arena. I wanted to be spooked, get the chills or even see something but that is not what it was. It was quick paced, and wish we could have taken the time to focus more on local landmarks and spots to take pics or check out things with a closer eye. The tour was slotted for 2 hours but we finished about 20 minutes early. All in all I would recommend this gangster tour but not if you want to hear about ghosts.

Had a great time on this tour! Lizzie was pleasant and fun and really knowledgeable. Highly recommend this tour, but make sure to bring your walking shoes because it really is a bunch of waking. It was nice to see Chicago lit up at night too! The tour ended at the infamous Congress Hotel and it was fun to learn about the different spooky things that happen in the hotel! Thanks for a great evening! Update! Be ware of the ghosts following you home. Our hotel TV wouldn't shut off and kept turning back on every time we tried to turn it off after the tour was over. We ended up unplugging it to get it to finally shut off! We were warned it may happen. The TV was fine before and the day after. Just had issues that same night. Coincidence or ghosts? You be the judge!

We had one full day in Chicago and apart from the river cruise, this was the activity that I'm so glad we made time to do! Baylor was our guide for the 8pm tour and her storytelling was fantastic. I wasn't sure what to expect but the way she guided this tour made me more interested in Chicago's rich history and Capone than I ever thought I'd be. We got to go inside the Palmer building and it was beautiful! Visited some popular sites in Chicago with a newfound understanding and appreciation after the stories. Death Alley and the Congress Hotel stories definitely gave me chills. Wear comfy shoes, tip your guide, and prepare for a journey back in time 😊

Visiting from Texas! My sister and brother-in-law brought hubby and I to do this tour. It couldn’t have been any better weather wise. Our tour guide Conner, did an amazing job leading us through the streets of downtown Chicago and telling us all about the stories of Al Capone and the Chicago fires and the ghosts of the SS Eastland that sank in the river. The entire tour was fun and full of information that was fascinating. If you are ever in the area, sign up for this walking tour. You won’t regret it!

Excellent tour. Our guide was Connor, who was fantastic; he spoke loudly and clearly, so the whole group could hear him, and it was obvious that he knew his Chicago history. My son and I both enjoyed the stories. A few things to be aware of, so you're prepared (my wife made the reservation, so I wasn't): First, you'll be expected to tip at the end. There will be lots of walking, so wear appropriate shoes. Lastly, the tour ends at roughly Michigan Ave and Ida B. Wells Drive, so be sure to factor that in to your plans. Depending on where you're coming from, you might want to get an Uber or take a bus afterwards.

IF YOU GO ON THIS TOUR AND DONT HAVE JANITA AS A GUIDE…..DID YOU EVEN REAL TOUR BRO?? I’m telling you this, tour guide is awesome!!!!!!!!! The tour follows a storyline and her acting and impressions were SO SO good!!! It was like having a tour and show at the same time. She is so so friendly and she always made sure everybody was good (like 25 people!!) , and she is an actual adult and understands that adults might want to stop and do something else but just to let her know. She is so flexible—she is so funny— and above all she’s incredibly knowledgeable, she is without a doubt, the exact person you want to be your tour guide. Here are some awesome shots she took of me!!!!!!!!!!

Prior to doing this tour, I have read several books on Chicago’s dark history and ghost stories but it seems like always something new learn and that’s exactly what happened last night. Avery, our tour guide, was humorous, personable and very easy to follow along. He spoke clear and made every stop along the way fun and enjoyable! The tour covered both Mob and dark History of Chicago and I highly recommend to anyone who lives in the city or visiting.

I recently had the opportunity to embark on the Gangsters and Ghosts Tour in Chicago, and it was an unforgettable experience that I highly recommend to anyone seeking a glimpse into the city's captivating history. Our guide, Avery, was an absolute delight – his enthusiasm and storytelling prowess brought the tales of Chicago's notorious gangsters and eerie hauntings to life. As we strolled through the dimly lit streets of the city's past, Avery regaled us with tales of Al Capone, the St. Valentine's Day Massacre, and the tragedy of the Iroquois Theatre . His vivid descriptions and engaging anecdotes kept us captivated, transporting us back to an era of bootlegging, speakeasies, and unsolved mysteries. The tour wasn't just about the stories; Avery also provided fascinating insights into Chicago's architecture, culture, and social history. He pointed out hidden landmarks, shared local legends, and painted a rich picture of the city's transformation from a lawless frontier to the vibrant metropolis it is today. While the tour was captivating, I would recommend bundling up with a warm coat, as the Chicago nights can get quite chilly. The brisk air added a touch of intrigue to the experience, making the tales of ghosts and gangsters all the more spine-tingling.

Bailor was the most amazing and comical guide, try to get her tour! Not only did I love this tour because the stories and amazing places to see but it was the perfect amount of time and Bailor made sure we could all see and hear at all times! She was very genuine to each and every guest while also being so enthusiastic with the story telling!

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour led by Joseph! He was an excellent storyteller of some of Chicago’s notorious history. This guided tour was also a great way to see the area by foot for future exploration.

We went to the empire room of Palmer house and it’s an absolute delight. As tourists who came to Chicago for the first time, I would not have known and would have missed such places if not for the tour. Our guide Avery added a lot to the experience too. He was very knowledgeable and nice, and he told great stories about both the Al Capone and the haunted stories in the city. I’d recommend this tour to anyone visiting Chicago. Very fun.

My crew and I went Tuesday night, Aug15th, Alan was amazing! Truly loved Alan story telling skills! We enjoyed ourselves so much learning about some of Chicago history and how Al Capone ran Chicago. I would definitely go on the tour again if I can make it back to Chicago. Thank you so much Alan again!😘😘 P.S. We did try taking the pic of the river liked you asked😉. We figured it only happens at night, so we said definitely have to come back.

One of the best tours we've ever been on. Avery was informative and highly entertaining. Surprisingly, he hasn't worked for the company for more than a few weeks! Highly recommend if you're in town and love learning a little history.

Enjoyed our Chicago Gangsters and Ghosts tour. Our guide Avery was very energetic and knowledgeable. We got to see the inside of some historic buildings, places we would not have ventured into otherwise. Thoroughly enjoyed by everyone in our family.

Our guide Kai was great. She really made the stories come alive! It was HOT during our tour and she went out of her way to keep us in the shade as much as possible. She really knew her stuff! Helpful after tour with questions & directions.

Our group had a great time and the tour guide provided great stories about the Ghosts and Gangsters of Chicago. Coner made the experience even more special for our Chinese speaking guests as he is fluent in Chinese. Beautiful city with some sad and sinister stories. Definitely recommend this tour!

We had a good time! Avery our guide was fun, personable and very entertaining. We got a lot of facts and stories. All tied in together nicely. The walk was easy. It was definitely family friendly, with just enough trivia and scariness for all age groups.

Loved this tour. Baylor was our guide and she was awesome. She is a great storyteller and answered all of our questions. I totally recommend this tour if you want to learn more about Al Capone and the history of Chicago. You will see cool architecture and sites along the way. The tour was a little light on ghost stories but the mobsters portion more than made up for it. Thank you!

My friend and I were having so much fun listening to our tour guide, Conor, teach us about the dark history of Chicago. He took us to the Chicago River, the Death Alley, Congress Hotel, and where the first brownie ever in the world was made. Such a great experience and totally worth it!

Baylor was a good tour guide and has a great passion for all the history about the city. Loved the info about the pasts of Chicago and about Al Capone! The ghost stories were good too. Overall learned a lot about part of the history of Chicago! Definitely recommend but hope the trip was a little bit more cheaper, considering it's just a walking tour with no actual fees involved to get you into any venues!

You should go on this Incredible tour! My guide Conor brought tons of extra knowledge, energy and he really set the scene for some creepy stories. I learned a lot and it was a great way to start my trip.

My wife and I explored Chicago with our group, with Caleb as our guide. It was a fun experience, and Chicago is full of history. Mix that in with some spooky tales, and you have yourself a good time. A weird thing about a lot of these tours, is that they often leave you a good distance from your original starting point, and this is no exception.

Kai was an amazing tour guide! So knowledgeable and funny! Despite the warm temps they did an amazing job making sure everyone felt comfortable and were taken care of.

  • 5/5 Jhanae L. 2 years ago on Google
My guide Kai was great! She had a lot of interesting information about the city and some of the gangsters. I believe she said she has a master's in history, so that made me like her even more. She was very considerate and open to answering any questions that we had. The walking tour itself was very fun! We saw a lot of sites, got our steps in, and met people from all over the globe in our group.
