5 Star Hotel!! For us The Peninsula is the only place to stay when visiting Chicago. They offer concierge service, valet parking, a house car, bell hops, in room dining. Anything you need is a phone call away. The service is impeccable! The rooms are cozy and elegant. The beds are very comfortable, they have multiple tablets that control the room lighting the heat and ac, you can order food and amenities from them, check the weather, call for valet or make up the room right from the tablet. They also have blackout curtains and a big screen tv with a fax machine and printer. A mini bar and coffee machine as well. The have a dressing room connected to the bathroom. The bathroom has a nice walk in shower and a whirlpool tub. A very cozy and relaxing room with beautiful views of Michigan Ave. The lobby is a beautiful room to have breakfast, lunch or dinner. There service is also top notch! Everyone we encountered there from the staff at the Peninsula was very friendly and attentive and go the extra mile to make your stay convenient and comfortable. We will not stay anywhere else! The Peninsula is Chicago!!

I was simply delivering a Postmates item to a guest at the hotel I entered the ground floor was not greeted by the two employees that were sitting there watching some type of sport game on the TV so I made my way up to the lobby level where I was once again not greeted At All by the desk staff there I had a feet and within three minutes two security guards rushed up to me treating me like I was some type of bum trying to hang out in their Lobby for no reason although I clearly had my cell phone be customers name and room number and their bag that they ordered in my hand if you're not going to instruct someone on what to do where to wait do not accost them like they are trespassing! Any future thought I had of patronizing this hotel flew out of the window with the way I was treated is it because I'm black?

This was my best-ever hotel stay. On the first night, we went to the hotel's own Chinese restaurant, which reviewers rate as one of the best in the city, with its perfect atmosphere and delicious food. The swimming pool, with its floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the city, is spectacular. As for the rooms, I would like to live always in my suite, with its elegant living room, handy dressing area, super-comfy bed, and two gigantic TVs. Its city view is lovely too. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a large bowl of fruit, a tree with many chocolates and a super nice note from the management. The hotel's location is right in the heart of everything. We walked to the Starbucks Roastery--what we dubbed "Coffee Mecca,--" as well as movies and many restaurants. I couldn't have been happier.

Really what you're looking for when you want to be fancy and bourgeois. I mean pampered! Comfortable! Great pool. A lot of ways to enjoy outside at bar or at pool. The spa is AMAZING. The staff was super nice and not awkward. This was blow your socks off nice - Like way better than 4 Seasons and way, way better than intercontinental - that's like Motel 6. There is a TV above the tub in a gigantic bathroom with one room for shower, one for toilet and then the rest is bath area. They give you great toiletries and you literally have to call for ice. Dressing room with comfy slippers. Just wow. I am so very glad I got to experience it.

I attended holiday afternoon tea in the Lobby restaurant with a friend. I was seated promptly when I arrived a bit early at the window overlooking their winter patio, a lovely view. My friend joined on time. Options for tea were varied and met with both our tastes. Champagne served at the beginning was nice. Food was beautiful and tasty. Our server was top notch and our tea was refreshed with hot water (but not taken off the leaves to avoid over brewing). The space was open and well - spaced, which matters a lot to me. A bonus is the hot chocolate bomb we each were given as a gift to take home. We were told our service time would be 1.5 hours and we were left alone after being presented the invoice to sign at that time and the servers gave their attention to quietly clearing tables and serving the next seating. They had plenty of space, so we were never approached to leave which was especially nice to continue to visit with my friend. My only reason for reducing my review by one star is the cost. This tea service is prepaid online with gratuity and quite expensive. It is lovely to be sure, but too expensive to enjoy as often as I would like.

Service and ambiance were impeccable. The rooms were spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated although the bathrooms are slightly dated. The rooms have everything you could possibly need during your stay. The tablets are a nice touch and convenient for controlling room lights and asking for housekeeping. Unfortunately, you cannot order room service with the tablets. You still have access to the menus, but you need to call by phone to place your order. Location is perfect as it is right off Michigan Avenue, but I did not feel the need to leave the hotel for a staycation as everything is there including a wonderful pool, spa, and gym. There is however a bit of sound bleed from the street even at higher floors. My only disappointment was the food. I was very excited to try Shanghai Terrace, but it did not suit my tastes. You could tell they use high quality ingredients, but the flavor was disappointing. It was less authentic and caters more to American tastes. The room service menu was also disappointing unfortunately. We tried steak, seafood, salads, chicken, and desserts. Nothing was particularly outstanding. It’s better to take advantage of Chicago’s wonderful food scene. I did enjoy their Chinese breakfast option very much. I will say that the service was never a miss throughout our whole stay. Room service, housekeeping, concierge, and service at the restaurant were all fantastic. The lobby by the way is beautiful and a wonderful place for breakfast. I highly recommend staying here, but I would skip dining at the hotel and take advantage of the amazing food options right around you.

This hotel always does everything perfectly. I had a wonderful stay over the weekend but unfortunately left my glasses in the room. One phone call and Claudia E. handled everything perfectly and in the Peninsula way. My glasses arrived home today in bubble wrap, a cute Peninsula bag, and a bubbled FedEx mailer. Of course they get this (my mistake) right, too! Stay at this hotel; you will not regret it. The staff, hotel, location, etc. are all wonderful. Thanks, Peninsula, for a wonderful weekend.

Best hotel I’ve ever had the pleasure of staying at! It was an enjoyable & amazing experience shared with a very special sister! What better way to have a slumber party! Shanghai Terrace, Z Bar and the Spa left nothing to be desired! We had beautiful views of Michigan Ave looking at the original water tower where the fire 🔥 happened, Water Tower Place shopping & the John Hancock! I will definitely make it a priority to visit again!

Update 11/17: I had a minor incident with my experience last time, but Andrea reached out to me and gladly resolved the issue. We went there for a fall afternoon tea celebrating my birthday. Reservations go beforehand on Tock Chicago along with a payment. They offer vegetarian option and bring the menu itself when you are seated - great option for vegans and vegetarians. We were also told if there are gelatins in any of the pastries - they are also vegetarian based. That’s a big Plus! Everything was delicious, atmospheric vibe, live string duo, great view. The service is outstanding. We loved lobster mini-sandwiches and scones the most. We wanted to be seated by the window and the hostess was happy to fulfill our request. Prices might be little higher than other afternoon tea places, be aware :) They are also offering Thanksgiving and Xmas afternoon tea options with Santa and Tree starting end of November.

I didn't stay as a guest at the hotel, but I went for a massage at their Spa. The masseuse was an incredible professional and met all my expectations. Unfortunately, the infrastructure is not the best as you have to walk through the spa main desk to the past to the massages section after changing clothes. Also, the Pool was packed with people and couldn't use it. The architecture of the building is nice and nice to walk and see it inside.

There’s nothing like the amazing afternoon Christmas tea at the beautiful Peninsula Hotel. It’s an annual event for me and I’m never disappointed. Though it can be pricey, it’s worth the splurge if you are a tea lover. The decorations are outstanding, and the music accompaniment is a perfect backdrop for lively conversation. Enjoy!

From the moment I stepped into The Peninsula in Chicago, I knew I was in for a treat. Despite the biting cold of the Windy City, the warmth and hospitality of the hotel staff were immediately evident, setting the tone for a memorable stay. The room I was assigned was nothing short of incredible. The attention to detail in the decor was impressive, creating an ambiance of elegance and comfort. But the real showstopper was the view. Gazing out of the large windows, I was treated to a breathtaking panorama of Chicago's skyline, a sight that was equally mesmerizing during the day as it was when lit up at night. The room's amenities were top-notch, ensuring a stay that was as comfortable as it was luxurious. Despite the chilly weather outside, my experience at the hotel was exceptionally cozy and pleasant. The hotel's facilities, from the spa to the dining areas, were all first-class, providing a perfect respite from the cold. A special mention must be made of Sherwin, the doorman. His helpfulness and friendly demeanor were remarkable. Whether it was grabbing my bags as soon as I arrived, or offering insightful tips about the city, Sherwin went above and beyond to make my stay enjoyable and hassle-free. His local knowledge and eagerness to assist were invaluable, especially for someone new to the city. In conclusion, my stay at The Peninsula, Chicago was an unforgettable experience. The combination of a stunning room with an incredible view, the luxurious amenities, and the warm hospitality of staff like Sherwin, made it more than just a hotel stay - it was a delightful experience in one of the most vibrant cities in the world. I left with fond memories and a desire to return soon.

World Class Customer Service!!!! I have enjoyed every moment here celebrating my birthday especially!! Love, love, love the Peninsula and I will definitely come back. Perfect location. You won’t feel like you’re in a hotel it’s like you’re in a resort except there’s no beach yet it’s wonderful and you don’t want to leave.

I fell in love with my room. It was so cozy and well designed. I found the position of each piece of furniture be perfect for the use. Thoughtful decorative choices made me smile each time my gaze landed on them. Everything about this room was perfect. I'm happy that I got to stay here and enjoy the luxuries if The Peninsula Chicago. P.S. Wish I could go ice skating at their rink, something to look forward to.

The peninsula has excellent service from the moment you arrive. They are great with families and kids. Our children were so excited with all the amenities the hotel provides for them. As a parent, I appreciate that they cater to kids and make the experience great for them. The only thing I would say is the service at breakfast could use a little work, but otherwise everything is 5 stars. We will definitely be back.

I just had a wonderful stay at the Peninsula Chicago. We stayed two nights. From the street level staff when arriving to housekeeping, everyone was great. The street level staff were always friendly and quick to greet us as we came and went from the hotel. The front desk staff were very nice with check in and check out. We had a small problem with the TV not working, I called the front desk and they said they'll send someone up. Luckily, the TV problem resolved itself so I just called them again and told them. We only stayed two days and had a lot planned so we didn't take advantage of the spa or fitness center. I'm sure that they were amazing. I hope to come back again to stay longer and enjoy more features of the hotel. We had a room overlooking Michigan Ave. There was some street noise, namely sirens but it didn't disrupt sleep. Just something to be aware of though. The hotel is near a hospital. As far as noises within the hotel, it was the quietest hotel I've stayed at. Even though I'm sure that there were other people staying on our floor, it was so quiet, you couldn't tell. The dressing room/luggage area was one of my favorite features of the room. It was nice to be able to organize your luggage and have a place for everything. The marble bathroom was very luxurious and well designed. I really liked having a separate shower and bathtub. All in all, it was a fantastic time and I can't wait to go back!

The hotel is beautiful, service impeccable, and staff is very attentive—once it’s clear you’re a guest. The hotel has a weird setup where the entrance doesn’t go directly to the hotel; you have to take an elevator to the check-in and concierge, and that floor shares space with the restaurant and entrance to the rooftop bar. This means that for certain customers you are not treated hospitably by employees when entering or lingering in the public areas. This is my second stay here on business and each time I have seen the inequality in treatment. It’s a shame because the hotel really is one of the best in the city. But outside of the employees of color the welcome in the downstairs entrance is chillier than the hawk coming off the lake.

Booked a night to pop the question to my girlfriend. She said Yes! The hotel staff, especially Evelyn, were amazing. Went above and beyond to ensure we had a memorable experience. The best hotel we've ever stayed at. Amazing property and superb service!

This beautiful hotel makes the Trump Tower hotel look like a Motel 6. On a serious note, the Peninsula is one of the most magnificent places to stay while in Chicago. The service here is impeccable, the rooms are beautiful, the lobbies, halls , event rooms, and ballrooms are exceptional. The grand dining room is a sight to see. There is also a spa at the top of the hotel. The swimming pool and gym are also nice and the indoor outdoor restaurant within is pretty good too. Overall, while Ive been to more immaculate 5 star hotels around the world, this might be the best of what Chicago has to offer.

An exceptional hotel. The team that works there are world-class (the doormen, front desk staff, housekeeping) and they make the property feel like "home." The rooms are incredibly comfortable, the lobby is beautiful, and the location is ideal. It's a world-class hotel fit for a world-class city.

We enjoyed three nights in this beautiful place. They are pet friendly and treated our dog super well - providing peepee pads, dog bowls and even a dog menu. Well equipped gym and nice tub. Rooms are clean and the temperature regulation works like a charm.

Beautiful Hotel in the perfect location in downtown Chicago. Enjoyed our stay and staff were very friendly and took care of our needs. Extremely clean and modern. Great location for shopping or taking a boat architecture tour on the river.

Every glowing review of this hotel is absolutely spot on. We recently met our daughter here for a three day weekend of fun in the city. We booked both an Executive Suite and a Grand Premier King room and both were terrific. If you book directly through the hotel you're able to request an early check in, which really helps if your flight arrives in the morning, as ours did. The beds were amazingly comfortable and everyone slept better than they had in quite a while. The pool, spa and staff are all wonderful; you won't be disappointed staying here.

*** Management, read fully for notes--The Peninsula is a very beautiful hotel. The room was beautifully appointed with more technology than anyone could really want. Showing how even the most luxurious hotels can make mistakes, I asked the front desk for an iron and ironing board (they said it would take 10 -15 minutes) and it ultimately took about an hour. But this was nice: a woman stopped by to give me dog bowls for my dog…don’t have one. She was very sorry and came back in about 15 minutes with a very nice bowl of fruit—unexpected, and appreciated. But even though it took an hour for the iron from housekeeping, the woman that mistakenly delivered dog bowls came back in about 5 min with an iron and board before the actual housekeeping deliver. Also, the Lobby was a very nice restaurant and the Z-Bar will make you feel like you belong…even though you might be filling the mold for only a weekend. *** Note: Room 1203 had a running toilet and the shower's hand-held shower-head is broken. Minus those inconveniences, and If I had unlimited funds, I would stay a few nights per year. Great experience.

Hotel room and common areas were amazing. Shanghai terrace is great and the staff at the hotel is very friendly. The pool / spa left something to be desired as the pool was too chilly, and the hot tub was out of order. Additionally a great process improvement would be to have a rigorous check / sweep of the pool and deck post family swim time to clean up floating items from the pool (bandaids, hair, unsupervised children etc).

  • 5/5 Craig S. 2 years ago on Google
We loved this hotel so much. We had a three day getaway there. The staff was pleasant, the room was clean and comfortable and up-to-date, the common areas were also beautiful and clean. There were little things that made it special, such as a welcome basket and nice turn-down service, and a strings duo in the lobby restaurant. We really enjoyed the hotel.

Absolutely wonderful hotel. The service was amazing and the rooms were huge, with very modern technology. It is located on magnificent mile. The staff was always very polite and will do anything to make your stay better. There were iPads in the room which controlled the lights, and a bunch of other stuff that was a really nice touch. I wished the Mens spa was open, and the Valet parking wasn't so expensive, but otherwise great hotel. I will definitely be staying at more Peninsula's.

If I could give it more stars, I would! My wife, daughter, and I stayed for Thanksgiving week, and it exceeded our expectations! From making hotel reservations with Jose, to making Thanksgiving dinner reservations with Sonia, to checking in with Joy, to being greeted with smiles by the housekeeping staff, to the wait staff going the extra mile with Leo and Annie, ALL OF YOU were AMAZING! I really wanted an ELEGANT and SOPHISTICATED hotel for my wife and daughter in the heart of the Magnificent Mile. The trio (or quartet) playing during our Thanksgiving dinner was the CHERRY ON TOP! The decor was SPECTACULAR! The transformation from the Thanksgiving decor to Christmas overnight was MAGICAL! After our wonderful experience at the Peninsula Hotel, WHY would we want to stay anywhere else?

Spectacular service from every single staff we met in the hotel. From the door man to the manager who checked us out. The great experience was beyond the other Peninsula that I visited before. Always felt welcomed and relaxed during our stay for three nights. We definitely would come back again and recommend to our friends and family who are visiting Chicago. (Don’t forget to order the amazingly delicious “Pen-nidict” from the breakfast lounge.)

In my book, this was one of the best hotels in the country. Beautiful lobby on a higher floor, excellent breakfast with attentive staff, friendly and helpful concierge. They knew that we were bringing a 5 year old, and so they had welcome gifts in the room already.

Thank you to the staff of the Peninsula Hotel for making our stay very memorable. Absolute top notch service deserving of each of Forbes 5 stars. Beautiful rooms and timely room service. Z bar was a highlight, especially the service of their bartender Adam. Probably the best hotel service we’ve experienced since 2019.

What an incredible hotel. From the minute we pulled up to valet to check in, service was top notch. Such a beautiful, super clean, modern hotel—everything was exquisite! Location was perfect, close to everything. The pool was the best ever and our 7 yo boy's favorite thing about our trip to Chicago. I called in advance to let them know our son has a severe dog allergy and was asked his name and age. I thought they said they would do something nice for him (I read reviews that some kids got cookies, gummie bears, or other cute kid stuff waiting for them in the room), there wasn't anything which was a bummer. But a really nice room service person did come by with a robe & slippers. Definitely a 5-star experience and we will absolutely be back!

I would say one of the nicest hotels I have stayed at before…. First class all around. Everything is very well done. Their staff are all very kind and accommodating The pool and balcony / lounge is really nice. I would absolutely stay again. Highly recommended

The hotel is fine, the vibe is a bit pompous and mostly frequented by those who are seemingly quite bumptious. If you fit that mold, enjoy. There are other more humble 5 star establishments that can equally make you feel just as appreciated.

Outstanding Hotel in every aspect. Location perfect, staff highly trained, customer focused always, spectacular rooms with every amenity. The tech in the rooms is perfect and flawless..Pricey but worth it. I am well traveled and this is a world class property. Kudos to you Peninsula Chicago.

I had stayed here many times. First after a long weekend for Labor Day. Then for some birthdays, special occasions, and New Years. But a few weeks ago got married here. It was AMAZING. Our friends and family raved at how amazing the service, food, hotel, and just overall experience was. This is one of the nicest hotels in the WORLD. In fact it was my boss who has traveled the world that told me this was one of the best he has ever been to. So on that faithful day many ears ago I brought my then girlfriend there for a long weekend (to try and impress her of course). Who knew that 4 years later we would be getting married there. I highly recommend this hotel if you are coming to Chicago or if you want to celebrate your big day. Jennifer from the Peninsula will make sure it's an amazing and unforgettable day.

We attended the afternoon tea. As a vegan it’s very exciting to see a spot that offers something like this and I’m more than willing to pay a high dollar amount, if it’s worth it. This tea however was not. The 3 star rating is only because Francisco provided very professional and fluid service. The food it’s self was horrendous. I went hungry, as one usually would and that’s really the only reason I ate the savories. I’m thinking maybe the chef isn’t vegan? Or they’re just simply not sampling what they’re making. It was really sub-par and I would caution to stay away. There were also quite a few flying friends at the table, which isn’t great for such a nice spot. While I like autonomy in choose my own tea, everywhere else I’ve done a tea has 3 pairings for your 3 courses. Really chef, the cauliflower purée that was apparently supposed to accompany the scones just isn’t the move. Over very disappointing, 10/10 would not recommend.

What an amazing stay! I had high expectations but everything was absolutely perfect. All staff was extremely kind. Every inch of the hotel was done with a purpose and great deal. Loved all the Christmas decor. Breakfast was good and Z bar I’ll have to check out again when the weather is nicer. My wife and I can’t wait to stay again!

An unforgettable stay in Chicago. The hotel has worked to offer the best for the customers as I can see. The rooms are sophisticated and spacious. There is lighting automation to make the room more pleasant Loved the swimming pool, gym, Christmas lights decoration, Nespresso coffee machine inside the room, and the breakfast at the hotel's restaurant (not included). Well localized, close to everything. The big 360-degree tower and the great stuffed Chicago Italian American pizza restaurant. The lobby is on the second floor which warrants an extra security feature. The room service was incredible and in detail when setting up the room, also putting my headphones in a gift bow. They offer two-room services a day. Thank you!
