Overall an underwhelming experience. The hotel itself is beautiful and in a fantastic location in Chicago. The ambiance is certainly impressive and small touches like a piano player in the lobby really add to the experience. The room was nice (we stayed on the club level). The finishes in the room were good and the bath products were also nice and luxurious feeling. There were several instances where this hotel left me disappointed. First during check in there was a very long line and the person checking us in seemed rushed and disinterested. The lounge is okay but smells bad and the food offerings are fairly limited for most of the day. When we were checking out we needed to leave for the airport at 3pm and asked when we checked out if we could utilize the lounge until that time. We were told that we could use the lounge until 2pm but after that our access would be revoked. It seems ridiculous to make such a fuss over one hour especially at the price point you are paying to stay here. We had high hopes about this hotel and were excited about our stay, however, moving forward we will likely be staying at The Four Seasons as the service and experience are clearly superior.

We stayed at the Langham for 3 days and it was absolutely spectacular. The rooms are immaculate and incredibly spacious. They also boast incredible views of the lake as well as the city. Rooms are serviced daily at no extra charge. We used the gym every day and it is very good, it’s very clean and has modern equipment. The spa is very calming and has a very zen feel to it. Definitely recommend using this facility if you are looking to relax a bit. The service was some of the very best we have received, every single person from the doormen to the cleaning staff was incredibly friendly and always greeted us with a beaming smile and were always happy to stop and have a chat if you engaged. Location in superb, many brilliant restaurants are within walking distance as well as some of the boat tour departures on the riverbank walk. Other locations are only a short cab ride away as well Overall undoubtedly a 5 star experience and we can’t wait to be back soon

I stayed here as a "staycation" destination to take advantage of the amenities and being close to downtown locations and everything about the stay was wonderful. Each employee was lovely and great to talk to. The bar had incredible drinks with great presentation. The pool was fantastic even with it being before the renovation they're doing at the moment. The steam rooms and sauna were absolutely perfect. And location wise you're walking distance to the Loop and River North which gets you to some great places. Truly a great time I would love to do it again.

Stunning hotel! From the architecture to the artwork throughout. We stayed in a One Bedroom Suite and the amenities were most certainly luxurious as well. The room was clean, and refreshed each day. The thermostat seemed to default back to low throughout the day, which made the room a bit too cool for my comfort at times. Kudos to the illustrious Phillipe, Head Concierge. He was an invaluable resource during our stay. Upon arrival, i decided to chat with him briefly to discuss weekend plans for my SO and I. Phillipe is very well-versed and recommended a list of sights and places to visit during our long weekend. My room was not ready by check-in time, so Phillipe provided me with a glass of wine while I waited and before ending his shift. Little did I know, I would be waiting 2.5 hours for my room to be ready. That was disappointing as I was hoping to refresh and relax a bit before my SO arrived. Once the room was ready, I had to rush around due to time constraints. The other unfortunate situation was our oversight. We left a few clothing items/shoes in the room (pricey ones)- I'm quite sure we left them in the closet drawer. I contacted lost & found and was advised of their protocol for unclaimed items in Lost & Found. A courtesy call when the items were discovered would've been super appreciated, however, I understand that is a big ask considering all of the belongings travelers may leave behind at hotels. At this price point for a multi-night stay, a courtesy call really shouldn't be too much to ask. The breakfast at Travelle inside the restaurant did not disappoint! Great food and service! Overall, I would recommend Langham Chicago. I only gave it 4 stars due to the 2.5hr wait (I received our room keys at 5:30). I arrived at 3 so that I could properly prepare for our evening plans which did not happen.

Second time here and sadly had a much different experience this time. In 2020 the service and attention to detail was absolutely outstanding. Honestly the best in the city. This time was so disappointing. While it is beautiful, the service was not at the level of the Peninsula or Four Seasons. When I called to reserve I mentioned I'd love a view of the water. I mentioned it was my daughter's surprise birthday weekend and they mentioned they would give her a cake in our room. Neither were executed. Our room had a view of a brick wall to building next to us. So no view at all. They corrected it after I mentioned I had requested a view but this created a frustrating start for this surprise. I had even mentioned to them when I checked in that I had requested a view of the water and the check in person said if you don't like the view come back and I'll change it. You'd think they'd know what room they were giving me. Why should I need to embarrass myself and ask for the correct room? This is a 5 star hotel? The manager gave me his card in case there were any other problems. A couple days later, I reached out by email to let him know that the birthday cake they offered for my daughter had never arrived. He never responded. After almost three days I finally wrote him a hand written note in addition to the email. When we came home from a performance that evening the manager left a few items for us (piece of cake and a couple of cookies). Sadly I felt so disappointed by the lack of service. I had two simple requests and neither were executed. When we checked out I asked the front desk to send up a person to help us with our bags after 30 minutes waiting in our room no one ever arrived. Additionally the room looked tired. Wires dangling from tv, lamp had a broken lampshade, dirty carpet. Sadly won't be back.

The Langham is such a nice, peaceful oasis. The rooms are lovely, and great bathrooms with big tub and shower, I like the glass window to the room with a button-push for privacy glass. Excellent staff and service. The Chuan Spa is awesome, I like the decor, too, it’s quiet and relaxing. Massage therapist Deena is the best! The pool area is also calm and relaxing, it’s not a huge or deep pool but it’s very nice, there’s also a hot tub. Nice super clean locker room with 2 saunas and a steam room, bottled water, robes, as well as heated lounge chairs. The staff/attendants are great. There’s also a nice view from the windows, of the Chicago river.

Had my wedding here and stayed in the bridal suite 4 nights. Fanciest and nicest hotel room I have stayed in so far in my life (over 40 years). The service was great! The guy who delivered room service BOWED! Everybody was friendly. The hotel gave us monogrammed bath robes and a bottle of iced champagne was waiting for us in the room after the party.

Agree with the review below. This hotel is NOT recommended for light sleepers. Literally the sleep quality is so poor I don’t get how the reviews are so good. I am giving a few stars for the great service but would not recommend this hotel if you like to sleep in a quiet room. I moved rooms several times and only found one I could tolerate with the street noise (on the top floor 13). The noise woke me up several times at night. There is no soundproofing allowed due to it being a historical building. Also the walls are paper thin, I heard women next to me laughing so loudly for 5 hours straight and it made it hard to concentrate or relax. The room service food was very bad as well (ordered 4 different times). They “upgraded” me to club level for the inconvenience but wouldn’t give me access to the club lounge which was tacky IMO. I liked I could use the spa facilities and the bathroom was very nice but that’s were it ended for me. Also the mojo coffee in the lobby downstairs was the highlight for me.

10/17/23 Update: Upon discussing the issues with hotel staff, they changed our room and made the rest of our stay very pleasant. I am not removing the review because the Langham does in fact have some rooms that are soundboxes, and are very loud. If you are a light sleeper, I'd recommend you request a different room up front. --------- 10/14/23: Not for light sleepers! I would have loved to love it. The building is beautiful - the service was good. The rooms were even very nice. The location is great. But the sleep part was just plain awful. Probably one of the worst nights sleep I’ve ever had in a hotel. It sounds like the walls are paper thin. Paper thin. The wedding noise above us reverberated around the room and made it impossible to sleep until 1:45am! Beware weekends! If you’re a light sleeper this hotel is not for you. Please don’t make the same mistake I did. A hotel fundamentally is a place to sleep. The Langham does not provide that, and therefore if I could give it a negative star, I would.

We stayed & attended a wedding today in the Langham. Everyone from front desk to even our bartenders were phenomenal. Notable mentions; Our bartender Dan (Dan the man) was our bartender at the wedding we were attending, he was nothing short of amazing. He made sure we always had water when we came up & provided us with service out of this world. You are extremely lucky to have him. 10/10

Location is great .. rooms are good but a bit small compared to some other nearby hotels.. spa area is nice .. gym can be upgraded (treadmills) Consider getting tonal installed in the gym. Valet people are superb very attentive and polite. Actually better then the front desk person who checked us in (seemed a bit disinterested, didn’t feel a lot of positive energy) overall a superb place to stay in Chicago

This is one of the best spots in Chicago.... We did a private cinema experience with our stay and it was also experience awesome. It's located right on the Chicago River witch makes it that much more awesome. This is definitely a hands down great experience and place to stay In the Chicago land area.

Came here for a few business trips and the experience has been beyond amazing. Location is in walking distance to downtown. Amenities are top the notch. Room is huge, and the decorations and furnitures are classic but technologically adapting at the same time. Rosie Li and Alice Chien at the reception desk made me felt like at home. They have be exceptionally helpful and accommodating. Definitely made my business trip beyond smooth. On the other hand, my experience could’ve been better if Robin at the front desk was patient and professional.

This was my first time in Chicago and I wanted to have an amazing experience. The Langham hotel was a huge part of making that happen for me! From beginning to end I was treated like a priority. I immediately was greeted at my Uber by the bellman who gladly took my bags and directed me to second floor. I had an early flight and wanted to see if early check in was an option. I was able to check in hours early and my room was upgraded to a partial River view which was BEAUTIFUL! Since it was my first time in Chicago I was recommended places to go and food to try during my stay. The Expedia food credit was applied to my room and I didn’t have to pay a dime for my food during my stay. I even went over my limit a few dollars and it was taken care of! My room stayed cleaned and organized. I was even surprised with a treat along with my welcome letter when I came back to my room. The amenities are so wonderful! I really enjoyed the spa. I didn’t get a massage but there was lots to enjoy if you don’t. The ladies in the spa locker room are amazing! I forgot my bathing suit and she directed me to the nearest store to go and buy a bathing suit so that I could enjoy the hot tub. I was always handed complimentary waters whenever I passed by. The restaurant in the hotel was great! Everyone was honestly amazing. I truly felt welcomed and that I could ask for anything in the world. Everyone was very kind and helpful. The atmosphere was so inviting and I’ll definitely be back again! God bless

One of the best hotels that I have stayed in! Great service, cleanliness, and overall great location in Chicago and close to major activities, shopping, and food! Will definitely stay there again if I visit Chicago in the future.

The Langham Chicago is an exceptional, five star, luxury hotel that truly goes above and beyond in providing a VIP experience. The attentive staff and management ensured that we were treated like a special guest throughout our stay. Its prime location in the heart of Chicago allowed for easy access to many iconic downtown attractions. Whether you're in town for business or leisure, The Langham Chicago is a gem of a hotel located in a historic building, that promises a truly luxurious and memorable experience. We has a beautifully appointed suite with stunning river view that add an extra layer of charm and sophistication to our stay.

The soundproofing in my room was poor. Street and hallway noise, coupled with thin feather pillows, made sleeping difficult. I requested non-feather pillows from housekeeping. They said they would bring some to my room, but they did not do so. Years ago I inspected and reviewed hotels for a travel guide. With this in mind, I had high expectations for the 5-star Langham. The hotel failed to meet my expectations, though. There are better options nearby.

Absolutely splendid service. This is definitely what I would characterize as a 5 star hotel. If you call the front desk they always answer promptly. I ordered food to my room for dinner and breakfast and it was some of the best hotel food I’ve had. Very clean rooms and great service. Highly recommend.

The best hotel I have stayed in in the US. So many five star hotels don’t live up to their rating or their price point. The Langham exceeded expectations on every level. Immaculate up to date rooms. Beautiful facilities. And most importantly an amazing staff of hospitality professionals. Thank you Langham for being so great at a time when things are so hard. A sanctuary.

Stayed here for a couple nights for a work trip. Service was amazing! The rooms were beautiful, they do a great job here. Definitely the best hotel I’ve ever stayed at. The food was great as well. The pool area is stunning. Valet staff were great. Amazing experience!

My favourite hotel to stay when in Chicago! Rooms are luxurious and well thought out, service is impeccable, and location is perfect. Great shopping and restaurants near by, lots to do within walking distance. Beautiful hotel, everyone is expectionalmy nice and helpful. Their goal is to please and ensure your stay is memorable. Exceptionally clean. They go above and beyond every time we are there. I make a point to stay every time we are in town!

Fast room service. Very professional and courteous staff and one of the best views in the city (at least if you have a river-facing room). Their lobby is also amazing for working with your laptop and having a quick meeting.

Among the finest hotels at which I’ve stayed. Beautiful spa, pool, and tub. Actually usable gym room, even for a gym rat. The doormen though were absolutely spectacular; you truly feel like a valued guest staying here.

If I could give the Langham Hotel more then 5 stars I would. I proposed to my fiancé there this past weekend and it was a dream a come true. The hotel and the staff really helped to make this possible. The service all the way around was draw dropping. I understand this is a 5 start hotel but they went above and beyond to accommodate me and my plans. We will be staying here again, if not every time we visit Chicago.

Had my summer vacation planned in the US, driving all the way from LAX to NYC. With that, we’ve been to many hotels to stay in between our road trips. The Langham by far, tops and exceeds all the other hotels we’ve stayed in. In terms of security, luxury, hygiene, rooms, lobbies, and finally the staff there. I’ve also encountered a situation where I forgot a VERY valuable item in the hotel, before hitting the road from Chicago to NYC. And I cannot express my gratitude enough to the security team! Especially Jordan and John. They have helped my a lot and made sure that my item was shipped safely and quickly to NYC before my flight back home. Thanks again Jordan, John! Best, AB

The room was comfortable, we only had 2 washcloths, bath towels & hand towels. The pump dispensers for the body wash, shampoo & conditioner were less than adequate. The É“ody wash never suds up. The handwash was the same way. Breakfast was generous & really good. The attendant seemed overworked and friendly, but stressed. Due to the numbers of people at breakfast, a helper to wipe up messes, spills, sweep & vacuum floors & clean tables would have greatly improved our experience. There were eggs on the carpet being stepped on, the juice dispenser was empty of apple juice mix & people had poured their juice in the tray instead of placing in the trash. The attendant really handled the dining area well, all things considered. We would happily stay here again.

Excellent service by every single member of the staff. Probably the best I have had anywhere. Each person was friendly and helpful and really seemed to care about their jobs and be proud to work there. The beds were really comfortable. Nice rooms. My only complaint would be the towels seemed a bit out dated and could use a refresh. The restaurant and bar were excellent as well.

I am a Chicago Wedding Planner & had the pleasure of working alongside the Langham team for an event this past weekend. 100 stars all around! Shaun & Jordan handle their special events….their hospitality & overall attention to detail is incredible. The food is impeccable, the ballroom is stunning & it all sets the tone for the most elegant Chicago wedding. The guest experience was top notch! I also stayed in one of their hotel rooms for the first time & it was all exquisite. (Upgrade to the Club Lounge - all the most lovely food, treats, drinks & views you could ever hope for!) Thank you to The Langham and team for a successful event and comfortable stay!

Exceptional. Everything about the hotel was amazing, the staff is top notch. Jeremy at front door welcomed us right from the start and set the tone. He was exceptional. Jeremy was there on our last day and was also incredible. We started and ended on extremely high notes thanks to him and his service and being so personable with us and that’s the reason we will be back. My only negative feedback would be on our floor a guy was leaving with his dog and his dog was visually aggressive and we had our kid with us. As he approached he let the leash extend and his dog charged and and jumped and bit me. We didn’t complain because it’s not the type of people we are but still sucked. Not the hotels fault, but maybe dogs should have regular leashes or something. Otherwise great stay.

The service really made the entire visit. Everyone, and I mean everyone, was very polite, friendly, patient. I understand it's their job but they didn't make me feel like I was inconveniencing them. The accomodations were beautiful, clean, and modern. Location perfect for when you're visiting the city.

Fantastic experience all around. The bar service was exceptional. Bartender Julian made us a fantastic Cocktail with zero-proof Gin. Who knew mocktails can be so much fun. Desserts are out of this world.

We've stayed here several times over the years. During our last visit, the valet driver wrecked our car! He admitted to it then tendered the insurance info.. That was it! The inconvenience of having to get our car fixed was ridiculous. We were never compensated in any way for the amount of time it took to get our car fixed that he wrecked!!! We will never return & I would suggest if you go to either walk or take a taxi, don't let them wreck your car so that you can waste countless hours getting it fixed.

A truly 5-star, world-class experience. Extremely strong service from all staff. Warm welcome right at the door, then front desk, exiting the elevator and every other time we moved anywhere in the building. These folks take the time to remember you and make you feel welcome. Breakfast and bar food were exquisite with, yet again, impeccable service. This place is a real treat. Multiple visits from room attendants each day add a wow factor whenever you get back to your room. High-end fixtures in the room (smart lights, privacy glass, marble countertops, espresso maker) and impressive amenities (pool, spa, restaurants) can be found throughout the facility. And if you couldn't tell by the location, the rooms have incredible views. If you want to do Chicago right, stay here!

  • 5/5 Tom S. 2 years ago on Google
One of the nicest places I've stayed, domestic or abroad. As others have said, the service really is second to none; everyone I interacted with being very polite and helpful. The location - downtown, right by the river - is excellent, and a short walk from one of the Blue Line stations if you take the train in from O'Hare. The room I had was pristine and very comfortable, and as I mentioned in a separate review the restaurant / bar on site is superb. Next time I'm in town I'll probably consider staying here again before any other options!

Amazing hotel, very comfortable and spacious rooms. Customer service is excellent, the staff were very polite and accommodating. There were some issues though, if your room is facing the Trump Tower (facing east), expect a lot of noise to come through from outside. If you are a light sleeper, any room facing that side of the building should be avoided. My only other gripe was when I arrived (in the evening) the doormen were pretty aggressive in getting the taxi I was in to move to a different location. It felt like a lot was going on in that moment which ultimately led to me leaving my headphones in the taxi and them not being returned. I wish they would tone that down a little to allow people to get out at their own pace. Other than that they were great and were also very helpful.

Architecturally significant hotel. Beautiful! The bar lounge has amazing views. Service at the lounge is exceptional. Views can't be beat. Love it! Stayed 4 nights. Fidel, the "mayor" running the valet and luggage logistics is exceptional and a gem. Love him! Room service is a bit inconsistent as is housekeeping. This is a special place and overall it's amazing.

Except for rooms not being ready at 3pm, which was surprising for such a nice hotel to have issues with, it was a very pleasant stay after we got the keys. The room was welcoming and comfortable w a beautiful view. Service was impeccable with thoughtful turn down details. The location is perfect, accessible to everything downtown, but still quiet enough being just off Michigan Ave. Dining at the restaurant was a convenient and great experience, was able to walk in without reservations. Sadly wasn't able to have the afternoon tea as I wasn't able to make reservations 24 hrs ahead. They didn't have enough food prepared, so recommend rsvping ahead of time.

The hotel itself is really good! I went for a bridal shower, there just wasn't a lot of signage so it was a little difficult to find the restaurant and the bathroom. Some of the staff was helpful in helping me get around once I was visibly lost

Langham is luxury at its best. The rooms are stunning, the food is excellent and the service is superior. The club level is a must, as it offers a serene environment to relax and enjoy beverages/snacks. My family enjoyed our time spent at this beautiful hotel. We will definitely be back.

Excellent stay at the Langham. The room was spacious, updated and clean. Housekeeping came multiple times per day. They laid out our robes and slippers and filled the ice buckets for us. My favorite among the staff was Jeremy at the front door who went out of his way to help with directions and recommendations. Check in and out was smooth.

Amazing stay and service at a true 5 star luxury hotel. I had a short 3 night stay at the Langham for a work trip. Location was perfect, right on the river, close to some of the best restaurants, bars, and shopping Chciago has to offer. Unfortunately, being located in downtown Chicago transportation from the airport can be tedious with traffic. Entering the hotel you are already greeted with kind friendly service. Especially Rosie who worked at the front desk. It was my first time at the hotel and she patiently explained all the features, amenities, and local food scene. Even better - I left my wallet at the front desk and she made sure I got it promptly. A lot of thanks to her to make my stat very warm and welcoming. The hotel is a lot larger then you would think - i got a room further from the elevator and it was quite a walk to get there (through very well appointed and luxurious hallways). The room was very large, especially for Chicago. Bathroom was amazing, huge. With a soaking tub and large shower. Definitely a luxury hotel. Also, gym is well appointed with Fiji water and excellent equipment. Definitely check it out. Only downside is restaurant was closed and bar service seemed understaffed (and pricey). But otherwise an amazing hotel.

Beautiful hotel, with nice views of the river. The staff are friendly and responsive. The rooms have great amenities, with a full vanity and very large bathroom. The tub has an opaque wall that can change to clear, allowing you to watch the 65 in tv.

My boyfriend surprised me with this Chicago trip and overall it was one of the best weekends we have ever spent together! The location was perfect, the rooms were spectacular, the service was impeccable and even all the guests were friendly. The decorations for the holidays were very beautiful. You’ll have to get a picture in front of the Christmas tree on the 2nd floor. Being able to text reception for any of your needs was great. They were able to give us a list of brunch spots near by, call for our car, and answer any other questions we had. Amazing restaurant / bar within the hotel as well! The spa looked great, but was very pricey. The pool had pool side service but, maybe because it was the holidays, there were so many kids which wasn’t ideal. However, besides that, your expectations will be exceeded. A great stay for you and your partner! We definitely recommend staying here and wish we would’ve stayed longer!
