Best coffee on campus? Cheapest coffee on campus? Tastiest lunch on campus? (sourced from local Hyde Park restaurants?) Cheapest lunch on campus? Punniest name in campus? The answer to these questions is all the same, and it’s grounds of being. I don’t care if y’all are cash only, eating here is just too good.

CASH only! MENU: Great coffee--I believe the least expensive on campus--and some yummy premade meals. Coffee - 8oz = $1 I like the LSD blend. CAFE: The place is pretty small but usually packed with people. It's located in the basement of Swift, so it is also rather dark. Honestly, the vibe makes me feel like I'm in a wood laden tavern in Europe... which I love. However, the darkness is not conducive for my studying; so, I usually grab a coffee and bounce. LOCATION: When you walk into Swift, you walk in a diagonal to the left. You will see an opening to a stairwell. You descend the stairs and then turn to the left and descend a few more. It's straight ahead. There is also an elevator to the basement; when you enter Swift it's on the right. SERVICE: I've found the staff is usually in good spirits and friendly. However, every now and again, you get someone who doesn't seem to be having a good day. It happens to all of us.

A great student-run local coffee shop! They have an array of food, but the selection has been the same for many years, would be nice to change it up a bit. Payment is cash-only, which I can totally understand, but sometimes it does mean I have to make a different decision. The coffee is great! Lastly, it's often quite crowded so tough to get a spot to sit

Certainly the cheapest in Chicago and the quality is good! A good point is that they have alternative milks.

Only the best: the coffee, the root beer, and the friendliness of the staff. Since the cafe is located in the school of divinity, it is no wonder that food tastes divine there. Ideal location for anyone who seeks a quick out-of-body spiritual experience in the 15 min break within lectures.

Definitely the best coffee place on campus. And if you bring your own mug, they let you refill for a dollar. Also, they have food from a variety of restaurants around Hydepark. The price is pretty reasonable compared to other places around campus. They only take cash though which is inconvenient sometimes.

One of good-coffee cafes in the University of Chicago. Located in the basement of Divinity School, which you can access through Main Quadrangle UChicago. They serve coffee, snacks, warm foods, cold drinks, sometimes slice of pizza too! Bring cash with you since they only receive payment in cash.

Hidden gem in the basement of the Divinity school. $1 coffee refills (any size). Very nice baked goods are delivered around 9am, and inexpensive lunch entrees are kept in a hot display starting around 10:30, these are usually cheaper and comparable in quality to the nearby food trucks. Seating is limited. Days of operation depend heavily on the undergrad schedule (eg not open during winter holiday period).

The Lavender Matcha I had was very sweet but delicious, well mixed, and had the most delicate foam. Highly recommended if you like a sweet matcha drink

some of the student workers have negative skills to make espresso drinks. the quality of GoB ranges from 0-75 out of 100 depending on who is making the coffee. Most of the time espresso has been over extracted. For comparison: Ex-Libris student workers tend to under-extract espresso drinks (which become sour)... Another on-campus place is Pret-a-Manger (clearly, only "ready for eating" but not "ready for drinking"), where the espresso drinks are consistently bad, for which I will give 30 out of 100. Star bucks is comparable. For Hallowed grounds, I have heard both good and bad things about them, so far my experience has been negative. In short, near UChicago only Plein Air seems to offer reasonable coffee (not great but drinkable)... but the line is always absurd...
