Amazingly attentive service, funky vibe, great location, with a huge assortment of food and drink. The service here was so great - we got plenty of attention and were able to keep ordering additional drinks as time went on, allowing us to stick around for a decent amount of time, enjoying the scenery and the nice day out. I was surprised by the variety of food and drinks available. While my wife enjoyed the Carmelita drink and a late lunch with her friend, I just ordered a few different types of drinks and thoroughly enjoyed them all, including the Golden Espresso Latte, Lemon Ginger Kombucha, and Matcha Freeze.

Love this place...what can I say. It's a beautiful, mellow cafe in the heart of Andersonville. My favorite drink is the Viennese cafe served with a warmed baguette with extra butter. The little store at the back, remains charming and always a delight when visiting. Such a great cafe...

A unique diner! It’s a new world once you enter the door. The sitting on the floor area in the front is such an cute idea, it also puts the people sitting there in the window somehow and I love that! Back of the diner is a full shop with handmade clothes, silver jewelry, scarves, imported souvenirs, incense, candles… I’m telling you it’s another world. I tried a cold brew coffee and a gluten free & vegan brownie they were both very quality. I will be coming back.

If I could give Kopi Cafe ten stars I would! Here we are in the middle of a pandemic in December when they offer us out-of-towners a place to eat (other than our car) ... an outdoor table next to a really nice warming lamp! It was 37 degrees but comfortable and safe! To make it even tougher, I am every server's nightmare with food intolerances to gluten, dairy and soy. They came to the rescue with some wonderful toast that was free of each! I am not anaphylactic but many foods upset my stomach and we had a 3 hour drive in front of us! It could have been rough. But instead, everything was not only delicious but also no problems with any stomach upset! Many gluten free breads are considered "safe" for me but still make me a little sick. This toast was definitely delicious and the first time I have eaten bread that was happy in my tummy! The steamed eggs and side of roasted potatoes, smoothie (specially made by them to be non-dairy and free of sugar) and coffee made for an outstanding meal to carry me through. Thank you!!

At this point this is my favorite cafe on the planet. The only drawback is that is very far away. They have great drinks (i love their blueberry tea), tasty deserts, and art and/or CDs (at least one) by local artists and craftsmen. The neighborhood is also great to walk around (lots of non-chain stores and little shops.) Good service and there are local cultural publications around to read. It is also conveniently located so that I can meet my friends easily. The clientele tend to be cultured and often seem to be having intelligent conversations.

A very peculiar place, but in all the positive ways! The coffee was good, and the carrot cake enjoyable

First timer here. It was super crowded on a Saturday evening, but the hostess was able to get us a table in like 10 mins. We checked out their small shop area while waiting. As far as food goes, we had the Mexican Latte and Carrot cake. It was so yum. Our server was very friendly as well. We did pay street parking outside.

Loved the vibe of this cafe. Varieties of coffee and teas. Falafel plate was fine. There are soft cushions for floor seating arrangement. The place can be a little clean. There are table and chairs as well. Warm and welcoming service.

We visited Kopi cafe in Andersonville for brunch after a busy work weekend, I have to say, I was thoroughly impressed! As a group with a few vegetarians and vegans, we always look for delicious alternative spots, and Kopi did not disappoint. The eclectic experience began right away, with the option for outdoor dining, as well as the tea room up front for people watching. Inside, the dining room is absolutely adorable, with a cozy atmosphere and plenty of pastry options to choose from. What I loved most about Kopi, though, was the attention to detail and support of local vendors. The handmade products on display throughout the cafe were not only cute, but also a testament to the community spirit that makes Andersonville such a great neighborhood. Overall, I highly recommend Kopi cafe for anyone looking for a unique and delicious dining experience. Whether you're a vegetarian, vegan, or just looking for something new, you're sure to find something you love at this gem of a cafe.

I always try to get something different when I come here and always enjoy everything I get. This is one of my go to spots to bring people who are visiting, especially folks with allergies or food restrictions. There’s also lots of interesting things to look at and trinkets to interest folks from out of town. Staff is always welcoming and allow you to take your time.

Their menu is huge…took us a while to decide. The service was very friendly and it was a relaxed atmosphere. I was happy to see a lot of vegetarian options. We both enjoyed our food and will definitely visit again. #vegetarian #lunch

I used to go to Kopi all the time and loved it. Yesterday and today was my first visit back after awhile (due to Covid-19). On both occasions my friends and I felt very rushed, annoyed and not welcome. Not only did our server come by every 10min to ask if there's anything else we wanted to order, but another 2 employees (managers?) as well! They kept staring at us, coming by our table asking if we want to order something else, cleaning up our table in the middle of our coffee chat (both times my can of soda was half empty!), asking if we wanted our bill even since it was very obvious we were not ready to leave. We were EXTREMELY annoyed. So today, we sat for only 30 min and left, not because we wanted to but because we felt very uncomfortable. FYI, at all times while we were sitting, there were at least 3 other tables available! I understand your small business got affected by corona and you need to make money, but please stop being so ridiculously desperate! You are just turning your customers away.

This place is really good! I love the environment, the people and is very cozy-friendly place. Never thought that vegan food was that good. You can enjoy ACTUAL coffee here, really really good cappuccino! 100% recommended.

Our tall male server was extremely rude throughout the experience, making uncomfortable comments to my friend visiting from Argentina. Don’t order the red potato side, they charge $5 for a very small portion. As a server I was appalled by the behavior. The salmon breakfast sandwich was pretty good, served on a nice croissant. I would recommend the golden espresso as well, flavor notes were subtle and not overwhelming.

First time visiting yesterday, and I absolutely love it! Vegan friendly desserts are out of this world. Huge array of teas and coffees. If the weather's nice, grab a treat and sit out on the back patio under the umbrella. You won't be sorry! Great service, and the cafe even has a little store with chic jewelry and other goodies! Vegan and vegetarian friendly. I love the space!

I don’t think the short hipster guy with the glasses is there anymore because of the help wanted signs. We were greeted by a couple lovely gentlemen and seated in the patio. Food was amazing for the price point. The portions were just right. I do think they tweaked their menu portions. I always go for the carrot cake! I was introduced to this place because my love of carrot cake. It’s the best I’ve had in the city so far; 15 years and counting. I got the trout omelette, carrot cake, and Mexican latte.

Haven’t been here since covid hit. I grew up around here and used to love this place. It’s definitely changed. Had the worse coffee drink I ever tasted, and it was the kind I always used to order. They clearly didn’t train the staff to maintain the quality. I had one sip as I walked outside, then literally tossed it in the nearest garbage can. I didn’t have the energy to go return it and complain. I honestly don’t think the guy would know how to fix it if he thought it was ok to make a drink like that. I used to also grab one of their brownies before when I’d go there all the time, but everything looked horrible and old. It’s like they gave up. The pie looked stale and the filling was falling out of the crust all over the pan. Why do you have that in your display case?- nobody is going to want to eat that. Just toss it at that point. Nothing in the display case or on the counter looked appetizing whatsoever. I mean I know times are tough, but it’s still a business and people want to support small businesses. Take some pride in the place. Everything looked so messy, even if the tables are put up so people don’t sit I guess, at least make the place look more presentable. It just wasn’t the cozy, inviting cafe it used to be. People are more conscience and cautious about where they choose to spend their money these days, so I highly recommend the staff to reconsider their approach to this once beloved cafe. I’m not inclined to go back and it makes me sad about it.

Kopi Cafe and I go back to the early '00's when I first moved to Chi. Living down the way on Hollywood and Clark, Kopi was an indulgence, a sanctuary, a meeting-place...so much more than just a coffee house. Although on the pricey side for my artist's life, the ambiance, service and food kept me coming back. My go-to is the focaccia sandwich, combined with the teas, creates a tasty combination. The low tables, and cushions lends itself to the Travelers cafe motif, even if not a travelers budget. However, what makes up for that, are the delicious choice of sweets and savory dishes.

This is a really lovely, calming cozy cafe. They have great laid back vibe, good food with lots of vegetarian options. Drink options are good too, everything from fresh squeezed juice, great selection of loose leaf tea, kombucha, hot drinks, and cocktails including hot cocktails. They also sell some pretty cool accessories. This is a place people come to hang out and chat, eat. One of the select places I visit repeatedly.

This place is very cool inside - a great aesthetic. The waitress was really attentive and friendly. Sadly the food wasn't awesome. I was shocked at the portion size - and I was really excited until I started to eat. My breakfast burrito had a ton of wet beans and a minimal amount of egg. The ratio was just way off. My burrito couldn't hold all the wet beans and burst while I was eating. My friend got the breakfast nachos and had the same experience. Bean to egg ratio needs help in my opinion and for my preference.

One of my very favorite spots in Andersonville. First off - the menu is extensive and there are TONS of vegetarian/vegan options. The coffee menu is great too, with fun and innovative espresso drinks. It’s so cozy to sit inside, but personally I love their back patio. And the staff are always so warm and friendly. Great place for a cup of coffee and bite to eat!

  • 5/5 Ana M. 1 year ago on Google
Love the drinks and teas. You cannot go wrong with the iced matcha. Sandwiches are yummy but a bit pricy. I suggest any pastry and drink. I recommend sitting on the chairs and not on the floor. It's cute for the first 5 minutes, then you gotta keep moving around to not get cramps or your feet will fall asleep.

Such phenomenal food and drinks! I ordered a Tuna Pesto sandwich and it was amazing. There were complex layers present - both in flavor and texture - which was appreciated. Wonderful staff as well! The back has a cute boutique with great gifts and things. I’ll be back!

Love this place. So many things I want to praise I don’t know where to start. The espresso is fantastic and for the evening many creative drinks as well as good price in wine and fine beers. If you can’t find something that tickles your fancy on the food menu I would be shocked. I’ve been going for years and always great welcoming service as well as interesting varied clientele with whom I’ve had great conversations. Bonus outgrowth from the pandemic is the beautiful back yard space. I could go on but will leave it with, Kopi is an iconic Chicago institution! Oh and don’t forget the boutique in back, amazing!

Ok. I always forget to rate Kopi. I've been coming here for YEARS. One of my favorite lunch, brunch, coffee places. Always a SOLID choice that will never let you down. It's a feel good place that fills your heart. Warm food and amazing coffee. Cute shop and great customer service. Everyone should come in and try it at least once. (You'll come back. I'm sure of it)

Good spot and nice coffee friendly place and staff comfortable place good to visit or make it special place to chill and have some coffee or dessert or any food from the menu I tried pear cake and coffee with whipped cream and some pinch of cinnamon

If you're looking for a warm, relaxing environment, you'll love it here. I've yet to try their East Asian style elevated seating, but it looks tantalizing. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu, the worst thing you'll find is only middling. For any meal of the day you'll be more than satisfied.

I suppose it's quite possible that my five stars are a result of finally getting out of the house during a pandemic shutdown, but mostly we really enjoyed the food and the accommodating service. They made everything safe with a touchless menu and the server was attentive, which was a trick since we were down the sidewalk outdoors. Go enjoy some affordable tasty food and quality service at this long standing cafe. I recall playing music in a corner by the window a hundred years ago, give or take.
