Had an amazing time at The Bassment! Make sure to get on the guest list and arrive before 9pm. The Bassment is reminiscent of a Speakeasy vibe. The drinks were amazing and bartenders very knowledgeable. The bouncers were super cool. The band lively and energetic and the crowd diverse. My partner and I had a memorable time. Thank you!

Bar manager was awesome, surprisingly security staff was cool at the time of closing. The live music was the cake topper. This was a fun place to be on a Friday night. And they have coat check!

There are three things you need to know about this place 1) it is 10/10 a good time with great music and lively crowd. It is a club 2) it is expensive even for river north standards (my Red Bull vodka was $19) 3) getting in is painful. There will be a line and you will pay a cover. Buying a bottle may be worth your while to skip the wait

My girls and I had the best time at The Bassment!! I’m visiting Chicago from NYC and have no complaints about the staff or overall experience. Important to note that there is a $10 cash cover! Very reasonable for the quality of our experience. The band was incredibly talented and the drinks were very well-made. Great song choices (mix of old school and newer pop). If you’re looking for a smaller, more intimate lounge to dance and have a fun experience THIS is the place!

The atmosphere was nice, the live band was a hit. Make reservations & hit up this spot, you won’t regret it!

Staff is extremely rude and pretentious. Door nerd said they won’t take a card for cover $10 and then a few mins later they’re accepting card. Not worth the hassle. Also they can’t take work bags with laptops inside but they refuse to search the bag to allow them inside. They’re the typical River north not worth your time kinda place. They do not support police and military veterans. Don’t waste your time. Not that good inside from groups of friend that got in.

We went on a Friday night and had the absolute best time. From the moment the hidden door popped open until the band finished playing, we couldn't stop dancing and smiling. The band... THE BAND was the best part of our entire Chicago trip.

Outstanding service for any girls looking for a fun night out. First time going, me and my friend were harassed by a drunk guy within minutes of arriving. The bartender immediately noticed and had him removed. They comped our drinks, and security came to apologize and check on us a couple times later on. It really means a lot that they cared about our safety. On top of that the drinks and live music were awesome :)

Maybe I’m getting old but this place is not for you if you hate crowds. It wasn’t even 10p and the place was packed with all the young trust fund babies you expect at a River North establishment. There was a 10 dollar cover (obnoxious). I was charged 17 dollars for an old fashioned that literally tasted like the bartender poured bottom shelf whiskey into a glass and called it a cocktail. No cherry garnish, and I did not taste the bitters. Definitely do not recommend for the price and claustrophobia.

Just okay ! The drinks were good - definitely have some detailed choices in their selection. The aesthetic of the place is beautiful as well!!! The 3 stars is because of the live band on Fridays!!! But I believe if they added some finger bites on the menu to a company all the drinking, it will make it better! It's basically a "status" type of venue. If you want to just go to say that you've been here and spend your money because you just want to show it off then definitely give it a visit! But if you're looking for a place to have a good time & where you can see yourself grabbing a few bites along with the drink and dancing all night and go home without stopping to get something on your stomach, you might want to shoot for a different place!

Enjoy great live music in a relaxed venue with positive energy and good drinks. Go to their website to sign up beforehand; otherwise, your chances of getting in the venue are slim. Show up before 9PM to get a decent place to hang out inside. Band starts playing around 9:30 PM. There is a free coat check (but you should tip). Drinks are a bit pricey, but are strong and well-crafted. There is also a dance floor where you can enjoy the music. If you register beforehand, you'll get an email with venue details and options. If you arrive at 10 PM or later (especially on weekends) you can expect to stand in a long line.

Love this bar. Probably the bar I visit most frequently in Chicago. The live music is always so fun and engaging — great place to bring a group. Drinks are definitely pricey and there’s usually a cover, but I think it’s well worth it for the ambiance. Fridays and Saturdays are always super busy—packed to the brim and pretty hard to hear anything over the music. For a more lowkey vibe Thursday’s are super fun!

Very good music, I got to see a band Wich was playing lots of good songs, however the place was way to crowded and people were drunker thant you probably would expect! 🤣 Ah, and the beers were crazy expensive 🙄🤷🏻‍♂️ still, a nice place to hangout for a while

I lost my grandfathers coin somehow in the wall next to the ATM. Karina and Rob took out drywall to help me get it back. Best people around and come here if you want to have fun and be around good people.

Best live music spot in River North. Crowded Friday and Saturday and super chill on Thursdays. Staff is excellent, great vibe. Good food upstairs.

I decided to do something wonderful for my 40th birthday and reserve a VIP spot with bottle service to celebrate my special day. First off the place is a beautiful speakeasy kinda place. Upon arrival my group of 13 were seated right away, however I was disappointed with our section as it was not big enough for our group and it was quite drafty, especially for us ladies with dresses on. I was two seconds from leaving the club when the waitress called our host Elvin over. I expressed my concerns to him and he went above and beyond to accommodate us. We ended up in a bigger VIP section with exceptional service. The band was awesome, played music from the 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000s. This is my first time experiencing bottle service and they laid it out. Elvin checked on us several times during the evening and we ended up staying until 2:30-remind you I had a party bus. Needless to say it was a fabulous 40 and the service was top notch!

Caesar and his team care so much about the customers here and their experience. I told Caesar I was so sad when my shoes broke, but he found a solution and turned my night around. 10/10 recommend Caesar and the team at Bassment, love this place and will definitely be back.

Best place for cocktails and live music in river north! Speakeasy lounge vibes and you get to enter through a hidden door of cigars! Pretty cool. All of the staff were overly nice and friendly which made the experience that much better. Cocktails are fun and tasty

Best night! Such a fun night. Everyone who worked there was so sweet and helpful - couldn’t have asked for a better night out! Especially Elvin, who was so kind and awesome to meet. He was amazing with our group, so helpful and just great. Thank you!

Amazing service. I had a table reserved, and the service was phenomenal throughout the night. Drinks are unique and delicious.

This place is great, I had fun even as a french tourist ending up here after talking a walk in the neighborhood. The cocktails were excellent and the music had the whole crowd involved, I’d definitely come back here with friends. Only thing that was surprising is the absence of barstools, but the place is really welcoming and happy.

Fantastic place. Like walking thru the door and into Antwerp. Italian beef was awesome.

Enjoyed this place. Prices are a little high, but good food, prepared nicely. Got a salmon dish and a clam chowder. Portion (salmon) was small for the price. Service was friendly and attentive. Worth a visit.

Good live music, super fun cocktails, cool vibe (couches, tables, dance floor, bar, cool but classy basement lounge vibes). Only reason I’m taking away a star is because this might attract the most basic (and young!) crowd in Chicago. Wish the crowd was a little more varied!

First of all, if you haven’t heard Angela Martin FT Que Billah was absolutely fire! Not to mention my boy Caesar who is a part of the staff offered amazing service not ever meeting us before tonight. Shout outs to Karla as a fantastic server too! And the Latina server at the bar was absolutely amazing too. I’m so disappointed I didn’t ask her name too. All around, you must go here!!!

Elvin, a bouncer at the Bassment was amazing. My friend and I were visiting and stopped by for a drink . He encouraged us to stay for the live performance and we had a great time.

The life music is cool but very rude staffs stepping on you (no apology) consistantly yelling at you to move - couldn't enjoy my time there. The bartender gets all the star - he makes good old fashioned!

Great vibes! Live music. Dress nicely especially if it's your birthday, they get you on stage to sing and dance with the band! Amazing diverse crowd.

I cannot express how amazing and enjoyable this place is. From the staff to the managers… unbelievable. Sawyer the bartender is attentive and extremely personable. The security Fredo is as well. If you are in Chicago, Bassment is a must visit.

We came here for my sisters bachelorette party and we had the time of our lives. The atmosphere was so amazing, the band played the best music, the cocktails tasted sooo good, and all the staff was so nice. Elvin the bouncer went out of his way to make our visit special, by making sure all the girls were safe and that we had the best experience possible. Elvin needs a raise! What a guy, we loved him! Our server was also very attentive and made sure we got everything we needed. She was so sweet! I wish we lived here in Chicago, otherwise we would come every weekend. Thank you for such an amazing Friday night! You made our weekend!

First time going clubbing for my 21st and had a blast! The previous club I went to was more expensive and I only stayed for 10 min because it just sucked, music was sad and there was hardly any ppl. I went with my mom and Aunt and they found The Bassment that was 10 min away and let me tell you it was worth every penny! It was cheaper AND better. Since it was my birthday I was actually able to get in for free, that door guy was awesome so thank you! Drinks were good, staff was great and the MUSIC was the best of all!! I can’t say enough good things about this place! Thank you guys for making my 21st a night to remember!! (Terrible pictures but we were drunk lol)

Last week I had a celebration at The Bassment with 30 guests and it was the most incredible evening! Had a table and bottle service. Loved the band! From start to finish the event was so easy to plan with the help of Mike and Elvin. Mike had all drinks ordered, ready to go and we had some of the best cocktails in Chicago! The Selena Gomez was our favorite. Elvin made sure all 30 guests had a hassle free entry and checked on us throughout the night to make sure we were having an amazing time. Our server Taylor was perfection from start to finish. Couldn't have asked any more from the team at The Bassment! Will 100% be returning again and again!
