My wife and I loved The Publishing House. We had a 2 night stay in June and enjoyed everything from the friendly staff to the clean and extremely comfortable room. The breakfasts were amazing and the location was hard to beat. Price-wise, it compared favorably to many other hotels in the area which wouldn't have had the unique charm and high quality breakfast included. We will be making this our go-to place to stay for future Chicago trips!

We rented the entire house for our wedding to provide rooms and communal space for our extended family from overseas to gather comfortably. The entire place is truly beautiful, and each room is unique and well-appointed. Kimberly was easy to work with to make the weekend special, and we are already thinking about how we can use the property again for an upcoming family reunion! Can’t recommend highly enough!

We did a full BNB rent out for our wedding party over our wedding weekend! It was amazing and exactly what we had hoped for! The rooms and common space are phenomenally decorated and very well setup! On top of that, the food was AMAZING! We were thoroughly impressed with the breakfast options each morning. Would highly recommend Publishing House to others!

What a wonderful cozy hotel with a friendly and very helpful staff. The rooms and the whole house are decorated in a way that shows that the people there love this place and want you to feel at home. Fantastic breakfast with different options every day. Although the hotel is close to the vibrant West Loop bars and restaurants and to Morgan Street L-station, it's very quiet here day and night. Next time we are Chicago there is no other hotel we want to check in.

Our family stayed here for a wedding weekend and it was perfect! We got in a day earlier than everyone and we were able to check into our room super early in the day which was an unexpected pleasant surprise. The aesthetic is so welcoming and cool. Staff were super helpful and lovely. Food was spectacular. Beds were very comfortable. The commons areas were truly the perfect space for our family to spend time together throughout the we eekend. And thanks for the pro tip on Solo Salon!

One of the best places I’ve had the pleasure of staying at whilst travelling! I honestly couldn’t fault it ❤️ The space is beautifully decorated, the facilities were exceptional (shout out to the stunning communal space upstairs), breakfast was on point and the team were wonderful! I felt at home in this gorgeous & luxurious venue my whole stay. I can’t recommend The Publishing House enough for any visit to Chicago!

BOOK THIS FOR YOUR WEDDING WEEKEND! I promise you won't regret it :) The Publishing House best hidden gem in Chicago! We had our families stay here during our wedding weekend and it was the perfect oasis. The living area is spacious and cozy allowing us to chat over coffee or a late night drink. The rooms are impeccably decorated and large to fit all our siblings and parents. The breakfast was absolutely delicious and the staff was so friendly. Our whole family agreed that the weekend would not have been the same without the Publishing House. Highly recommend booking the house for a special event!

We loved our stay here! The rooms have a true loft vibe (expansive and well-designed); there’s a lovely common area where you’ll meet friendly travelers at breakfast; and the staff was responsive whether contacted via email, text or phone. It’s the perfect area to stay in if you’re looking for some of Chicago’s best restaurants, too.

Our stay at The Publishing House was outstanding. It's neighborhood is really wonderful- clean and lively, full of people walking their dogs and eating at the sidewalk cafes and restaurants. Plenty of coffee shops and good food options close by (the restaurant on the bottom floor is really good!). It's close to the elevated train on the green line and is a quick ride to downtown. Alternatively you could take a nice walk to downtown from the B&B. It's a couple of miles, but really easy and enjoyable. Kimberly and the staff are super friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were outstanding. Our room was super comfortable...probably one of the nicer layouts that I've stayed in- definitely beats the pants off of any other B&B I've stayed in. We stayed in the Meno room which I can definitely recommend. I felt sorry for all of the people staying in larger hotel across the street as they didn't have nearly as nice digs as we did at The Publishing House. The communal spaces are light, bright, airy and modern. There's always something to snack on or coffee and tea to sip if you like, and last but not least, we got to meet the resident pug/pug-mix a couple of times. They're wonderful ambassadors for the place! Next time we come for a visit to Chicago we'll definitely stay here! Thanks for offering such an excellent place for Chicago home-base!

Stayed here for 3 nights, have not been to Chicago in 25 years, but was here on work trip. What a great place, out of the norm of usual hotel life and I loved it. Great food for breakfast in a house type setting, my room was amazing, surprisingly quiet for being on a busy street corner and epic heat wave-I was beyond comfortable. This will be my go to place.

I am so glad I chose to stay at The Publishing House! The location was ideal - walkable to a ton of bars/restaurants in West Loop and close enough to walk into the city center. I stayed in Harvey- the room was spacious and included a desk with a working station. The room was comfortable, clean, and well decorated. The breakfast every day far surpassed my expectations. I have a food allergy and the staff was very accommodating and even remembered me from the day before. Coffee, water, and seltzers were available for guests at any time. The whole place is a vibe and was a much more enjoyable experience than staying at a hotel. If I return to Chicago, I will absolutely stay here again.

My wife and I wanted to celebrate our birthdays in Chicago. We had heard about the Publishing House and decided to give it a chance. It was a great choice!! It provided a great location that was close enough to downtown without the hustle and bustle of the crowds. The staff was excellent and accommodating to our needs. Breakfast was an A+ with a unique and tasteful menu that fueled our long days. Overall, I have already begun the process of recommending this location to any and all who want to travel to the Second City. We will be back at some point, there is still much to see and do. Thanks again Kimberly

Five star experience all around! Me and my husband stayed here for a little Chicago vacation for one night. The decor is very lovely and inviting. We stayed in the Audrey room and it was very nice! From the interesting decor, to the large windows and high ceilings, heated bathroom floor and large shower to the toiletries. The breakfast was top notch! We had smoked salmon scramble toast and a lemon strawberry waffle which were both delish! All staff was super friendly and helpful and were hard at work to make our stay special.

A truly wonderful BnB experience. Traveled with two other couples and from what I could see all the rooms looked great. Stylishly furnished, huge bathrooms, (we’re British so used to tiny bathrooms) Breakfast was great, lovely staff. Good location for bars and restaurants. Much better than a big boring corporate hotel chain.

The Publishing House is an amazing experience. Our room was beautiful, the common area was great to lounge in, and you can't beat the location. The staff particularly were amazing - Kimberly, Monet, and Shay were all tremendous and made us feel right at home during our entire stay. If you're looking for an amazing gem in Chicago, definitely check out the Publishing House.

I used The Publishing House as a getting ready space before my wedding, and I am so happy that I did! The space is clean, well furnished, and a perfect backdrop for photos. Kimberly was so great to work with from my first inquiry, and made me feel so at ease working with her. She was extremely communicative, and so fantastic to work with. The morning of the wedding, she was present and made sure that everyone had what they needed, and that everyone was comfortable. It was the perfect amount of space for us to get ready in (I did also rent the media room for additional space). We had space for catering, our belongings, and hair/makeup set up. It was the perfect space for getting ready, and I am so happy that we booked with her!

The words "hidden gem" get tossed around a lot in the context of online reviews, but the Publishing House is an establishment that really deserves it. Can't recommend highly enough if you're looking for a stylish but comfortable and down to earth place to stay in Chicago. The common spaces are all excellently thought out and give the place the relaxed feeling of a fun European hostel (in a good way!). Also Fulton Market is basically the center of midwest restaurant universe. It's a great place to stay if you want easy access to all the downtown tourist sites but with a bit more of a neighborhood feel. Can't recommend enough!

We booked the Publishing House Bed and Breakfast for our son’s wedding weekend and it was incredibly special having immediate family and the wedding party all together in this unique 11 room BnB! We had the Rehearsal dinner catered there for 27 people and a brunch for 50 the morning after the wedding. Other guests were able to stay across the street at the Hyatt House Hotel. The service and food at the brunch which was provided by the Publishing House staff were truly exceptional! The vibe is creative and cozy. We were able to provide alcohol and snacks for our guests and the West Loop/Fulton Market is a fun neighborhood to explore.

Our stay at the Publishing House was truly wonderful. It is among the most memorable places I have stayed at. The decor is beautiful and relaxing. Clearly, a lot of thought went into every detail. One of my favorite aspects of our stay was attending the breakfast. The food was delicious and we were seated at a large, family style table with other guests. This arrangement allowed for extremely interesting conversation with people from a variety of backgrounds and career fields. We were very impressed with this place and would love to stay again.

I loved the decor and architecture, especially the inviting common rooms full of vintage furniture and exotic houseplants. Very comfortable and cozy rooms. Earplugs were provided for sleeping, which was perfect because the location gets a little noisy. The breakfasts were fresh, delicious, and creatively prepared. Five out of five stars!

The Publishing House is among the best hotels I’ve ever had the pleasure of staying at, and I don’t say that lightly. The vibes are immaculate; Kimberly and her staff are kind and helpful; the breakfasts delicious… heck, even the other guests were a delight! I don’t typically post reviews—certainly not when I want a place to be “Chicago’s best-kept secret” or whatever—but with almost 300 5-star reviews before me I figured one more couldn’t hurt. If you’re looking for a place to stay in Chicago The Publishing House will exceed your expectations; words and pictures alone can’t capture its dynamism and spirit.

If I could give higher than 5 stars, I would. From the moment I walked up to the blue door, I knew my stay at The Publishing house was going to be special and the experience did not disappoint. I stayed in the Everleigh room and immediately felt at home. The room is stylishly furnished - if I was going to live in a studio in Chicago, it'd be this room. The enormous bathroom featured a cast iron claw foot tub and a steam shower, I availed myself of both. The bath products were top of the line - I smelled great the entire trip! The staff was friendly and the vibe was comfortable and homey. Breakfasts consisted of freshly baked muffins, coffee cake, or scones, cut fruit, granola, yogurt and a selection of 2 made to order options. Plus, my own french press or pot of loose tea. There were even two pugs that made their appearances after breakfast. When I return to Chicago, I won't stay anywhere but The Publishing House.

We booked the entire Publishing House for our wedding weekend in October of 2022 and it was one of the best decisions we made! We had all of our immediate family in one place where we could spend time together and get ready for the big day in beautiful accommodations prior to heading to our rehearsal dinner and wedding. Everything about the B&B is a dream. The decor, food, staff, and service are perfect. The team was available to us when we had questions, helped us to get settled, and went above and beyond to ensure it was a memorable weekend. It is also perfect for getting ready photos with the colorful, thoughtful, and unique decor. We will definitely be back for future anniversaries!

This was my first stay at a bed & breakfast; and might I just add that I don't know if I'll ever go back to a hotel. The coziness and hospitality at the Publishing House was nothing I could have imagined. It's SUPER clean and very chic. It felt like I was literally a new resident there. And it is perfectly located in a great area of Chicago; with many restaurants and events in walking distance. After just a one night stay, I didnt want to leave! Don't pass this place up. ITS A HIDDEN GEM and WORTH EVERY PENNY.đź’Ž

My husband and I loved staying here. It was a 5 minute drive to the United Center and surrounded by restaurants and activities. Our room was very quiet, comfortable, and clean, and staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Parking was very easy! We parked on Randolph St both times and had no trouble getting in or out.

Hands down one of the coolest hotels I have stayed it. It’s styled immaculately and has everything you need to feel spoiled. My room had a claw foot soaking tub and a stocked canister of bath salts. It feels cultured and curated in a way traditional hotels cannot hotel. Five stars for this boutique B&B.

We rented out PH for our wedding weekend. We are so happy we did, it was the best idea. We loved it, our wedding party loved it, our vendors loved it. Just the perfect place! We used it on Friday to have our rehearsal and dinner. The space is very welcoming and also versatile. They prepare delicious breakfast, beds are so comfortable, great ambiance, everyone was truly amazed at how perfect the place is. We are thankful to the PH team for making our dream wedding weekend. Support local business and rent this place for your wedding weekend!
