I ubered from across town, arrived for a birthday, and the doors were locked because it closed due to covid. This is just the wake up I need to get my life back on track. 5/5

A hidden gem in Logan Square! A narrow door leads you to a very cool small bar with red lights and interesting electronic music. The drinks menu changes often, but there are always some great options. Last time I had a mezcal, cynar and lime - super refreshing! The staff was also nice enough to make us some off the menu penicillins.

Great cocktails with all price ranges. Definitely check out on their Instagram to see which DJ is playing. Music when I've been is either 90s or house

The whistler is the place to be for a chill night out but still dancing to whatever awesome dj plays. The indoor space feels intimate and there’s also a nice outdoor space with ample sitting. Needless to say, the staff is super friendly. It’s all you’d expect from a slightly more mature place to go out in Logan square.

On OG Logan staple. Only the real ones know. People complaining about beer and brunch don’t understand Whistler is a cocktail and music bar. Sad to see Logan transplants complain about such an iconic spot. Go somewhere else.

Cool joint with great djs and ambiance. Cocktails are unpretentious and good tasting, with a certain je me sais qoui. Fair prices, a artsy vibe and friendly staff. Went early so don't know how it evolves till 3 am but i would think it's a good bet

Cute little place. The outside is hard to find. It’s a white (brick) building with a clear door that says “the whistler” in white, TINY letters 😅 At night it turns into a dance party. We only got drinks but it was nice and relaxing

This is one of my all-time favorite cocktail bar. Amazing cocktails, they do have live music, indie bands so the place gets too crowded easily as it's pretty small place. They do have outdoor patio. Don't be surprised if you see a long waiting line, it's worth the wait. I highly recommend this place.

It is definitely laid back, with a back patio. The bar is small but it works and the bartenders are nice. Went there in an off night and they were sooo friendly and they were dancing too! Love that. Note: it’s hard to find but their front has random themes throughout. Cute place to start the night out!💓💓 The bouncer was very friendly too!

Hot music and hot jazz all night. Great drinks and excellent staff.

One of my favorite bars but was a weird experience last time I went. It was Saturday night and we were hoping to dance but music was quiet and the dance floor was close to empty even at 11pm. Then we left and there was a huge line even tho the bar didn’t feel crowded at all! Hopefully it will be more fun the next time I go!

I went wrong place twice already because don't look like bar from the outside. Pretty good cocktails, fun vibe, very comfortable and great music.

I stumbled in here by chance, and what a surprise! A DJ was smashing out a vinyl set of Funk & Soul, with puunters dancing away and having fun. Drinks are cheap, or less so, depending on your taste. So don't feel wary of coming in if your wallet is a little light this weekend. Top notch spot.

Beautiful, cozy spot. Perfect for a date / quiet night of reading. The rum cocktail was yum yum yum. Didn’t stay for the jazz but heard it’s lovely!

Bartender favors those who spend more so anticipate bad service if it's your first time and look young. Waited in line with friends around midnight just for the bartender Jay to let randoms in before us despite us waiting. Then coming into the bar, waiting to order drinks just to meet the same bartender to not take our order. Service was very rude as he took someone else's order first who just stepped up to the counter before ours even though we were patiently waiting prior. I know you make tips and all but that's not the way to do it and this being my first experience here I don't think I'd come back or recommend to other people. Place itself is also really small so expect a crowded environment.

One of my favorite places to go for live music, bartenders know how to makes drinks are extremely friends and attentive

Cool "hole-in-the-wall" with excellent cocktails, live music most nights and a great patio. A "must see" spot hidden in plain sight.

I love this place! The cocktails are amazing, the Dj bring the heat lol literally which is why I didn’t give them 5 stars. They desperately need ceiling fans or something because when it gets packed and everyone gets to dancing it’s absolutely horribly hot.

This place rocks! Favorite spot to dance and hang out in Logan Square. I love the lighting and the whole vibe of The Whistler.

Great music most nights... very diverse crowd and scene common in Logan square... bar outside and inside with great and respectful bartenders

The Whistler was on my "Cocktail Bars I Need to Visit '22" list for a while, and I finally went on a Saturday night around 8:30 pm. The live music hadn't started yet, so the ambiance was relaxed and chill. After a drink and a half, the music started and it was perfect timing. I recommend the Wildcat drink. 5/5.

Ok, let's talk about the Manhattan here. It's probably one of the best I've had in the city. No surprise since they've been rated as one of the best cocktail bars several years running. They had live music and a pretty big outdoor space in the back if want to take a break from the music, sit down, and enjoy your drink.

Great music and good cocktail and the bartenders are nice

Great spot for date drinks and to enjoy the live music. Can get too loud for conversations though if they have music that night. Speakeasy vibe with quality drinks.

Great little venue. Came to see the Lost in Translation event and loved the music and energy! Bar staff was attentive and never took me long to get drinks. The music was great and lots of dancing!

I'm glad I waited! I got the hot dog with the corn on it with the butter bread. It was delicious. I would definitely go again! All the workers were super nice as well!

Still love this spot after a decade of going there! Best Manhattan and dopesmoker ever! They're such perfectionist that it'll get thrown out if its not perfect when they're making it.

The original. The Whistler is the forefather of any and all decent places opened in the last decade plus where you could get a good drink AND not break the bank. The main reason you can still get a good drink for under $12. Small, often crowded, and not for people who don't love music. If you do, on the other hand, like good to amazing drinks in a real bar with a rotating selection of cool, sometimes out there music alongside occasional interesting panels or events, The Whistler is perfect for you. The people are friendly (so long as you aren't a jerk) and fun, they're an amazing part of the local community, and the owners are legit "the good guys".
