Went here to check it out and try a lift for one day. I had a great time being shown around and my questions were answered quickly. Unfortunately one of the sales reps was very pushy in getting me to sign up. The gym sells itself, no need to sell. I was going to sign up for this gym but stated that I currently have a locked in contract at another local gym and would not be able to sign right there. I came in a month before my old membership expired to scope this Xsport out. Yet still! I was being hounded to at least sign up for the lowest tier membership. I don’t understand how I can better communicate that I still have an active gym membership and could not sign up right then and there, the rep would not listen. It was very off putting and when the time came to change gyms, this was not my choice. I went to a local gym who knew that the gym spoke for itself and no pressure to sign up. I ended up going there and referring a friend there as well. Had the sales rep thanked me for coming in and said no worries on making a decision (since I still had a gym membership at the time), I would probably be here.

The sauna was fixed for the four two weeks of January. Makes sense since you're trying to get new members to sign up. Let's see how long it takes to get fixed. Today is 1/15. The other small pool has been out of service for over 6 months. Don't you (xsport) care enough about your members? Or do you just sign them up and fugget about it.

The Manager here with the neck tattoo is beyond the most unprofessional person I've ever had the misfortune of meeting. He outwardly lies and claims members of the gym don't have memberships despite them having clear evidence they do. I just got my membership and he denied me entry claiming the number I verified with other employees was not connected to any account even though again with evidence and other employees word was very much connected to an active account. He has over time falsely charged me non paid monthly fees despite never missing a payment on my end from not only my memory but from the bank statements showing I paid. He has made an otherwise lovely gym and wonderful part of my day a terrible experience. This isn't how a professional should act, even if their personal life is probably very sad so they take it out on paying customers and members.

Cramped and crowded gym. After 4pm get closer and closer to being an overcrowded testosterone zoo. 2.5 squat racks, 4 benches, and a really limited dumbell set that's always missing what you need. Some machines were unstable and could use some love. Overall though the staff are friendly and you'll get the workout you need here. I would recommend going mid afternoon if you're looking to beat the rush.

Total bullies. I had tried the club before and didn't join at the time. They recently sent me an e-mail--signed from this location--saying I could try them again. Cool! So I show up and say exactly that: I've tried before, I have a week pass I'd like to use. One very nice guy starts helping me. Then he leaves. And a new guy arrives and, despite the fact I had a coupon from their location, and had just been told I could use it, I suddenly couldn't. The guy started talking about "Prioritizing their members" and says cuz I wasn't planning on joining I couldn't use the pass. He confused me into saying I was planning on joining then used that against me. If I ever had thought about joining before, I sure won't now. Bye.

Review after 2 months of going here. First I would like to start off with yeah they’re a business and it did kind of felt like I was being pushed to get the membership. Which was not a good vibe but I ended up getting it anyways due to it being 24hrs which is a good and bad thing. Since I get off of work late. If you park in their garage be careful with security at night because a security lady talked to me saying I was here for too long like? It’s a gym? Make that make sense? So that was not a vibe. Now the gym isn’t all too bad when it’s not packed during peak hours but one thing I do not like is the equipment. For the amount of people that go there I can bet you they see like 300 people a day just my guess. With it being a company with multiple locations am sure they make a buck on memberships. So why are the ropes so old and used up? Am sure they have the funds to replace them. And some machines don’t even have pins or have different types of pins that don’t go to it which is unsafe. (Pictures attached) And the only cable fly machine sometimes works sometimes doesn’t. Like come on. Please fix that. But other than that for it having free weights it’s not that bad. Gym is clean and replenished during the mornings but during night times it’s kind of a mess with paper towels and water bottles everywhere. I wish they had more people going around replenishing paper towels and spray bottles more often but hey that’s my opinion. Showers, Pool, hot tub, and sauna are nice but after awhile they seem to not be the cleanest. But over all it’s a good gym for the area. Just needs some tlc on equipment and more staff to clean. Update October: ll i have to say is woah. Disgusting… people honestly do not know how to clean up after themselves.

Walked in with two friends and asked for a tour and info on the gym before possibly becoming a member. The staff was immediately dismissive and rude; they then wanted us to fill out a questionnaire about our health goals and what we thought health was, when my friend said she just wanted to move her body more he said, "what if I told you a lot of unhealthy people move their body". Then he wanted to weigh us and find out our body fat %. When we said no, that's not what our intent is, the sales guy immediately sat back and said "well that's our process" and went back to his cell phone. His rude and condescending attitude was appalling to three potential new members. This is not the gym for you if you are looking for a healthy environment. It's a very cliche gym bro environment and not welcoming at all. We signed up for the Lakeview Athletic Club down the block instead!

Awesome gym with lots of new equipment. Rating one star because the GM Casey failed to mention the lowest cost membership that the gym offers when I initially signed up. He then sold me the highest cost membership completely lying and saying that I could try it for a month and then downgrade to the second lowest membership WITHOUT ANY FEE. I have my boyfriend to vouch for me as he was there when I signed up. When I come in to downgrade the membership, I have to pay ANOTHER $50 initiation fee that I just paid 2 months ago when first signing up…. again, the general manager CASEY completely scammed me and it’s surprising and disappointing that he thinks he can do this to people to get a higher commission. Definitely watch out for him.

This used to be one of the best facilities in Chicago but now it has really gone down the drain. I blame the management and hiring decisions. The front desk guy with tattoos on his eyelids rude and unhelpful. Every time I come in the gym it is a process to get inside. I hear him harass other patrons as well. Totally unprofessional and uncalled for treatment of loyal customers. He told me his name is George Hernandez. Not sure if it’s true or not.

Nice, but I don’t like one thing since I start to come. First time I went 1,5 months ago. I asked about hydromassage or any spa. Front desk said me this is closed. I tried to go to pool and it was also close. Last time I went 4 days ago and everything still same…. Why I supposed to pay more and didn’t take any of this services:(

XSport manager didn't provide a tour because I didn't complete and sign the "registration" form on their tablet which she says isn't really to register. Since I didn't register or sign anything, the manager asked me to leave. No one ever said hello, welcome, or how can I help you. I walked to find their employees, and they just told me to register. They were even more unprofessional when I didn't sign the registration form. There were about six employees behind the check-in, no one approached me. I walked behind a circle and asked for a tour. Instead of answer, a manager hands me a tablet with a "Registration" form and tells me to complete it. I explained again that I would like to see the facility and not register. The manager said registering is for liability purposes. She said it will just send me an email for a $1 registration. I didn't want to register, and tried to delete what I typed in already, but another employe took the tablet from me while I was trying to delete my information.

When I tried to sign up for a membership and go for my "free consultation", a person who wasn't a trainer tried to insult me into getting personal training and the premium membership lol. Other than that, the facility is alright. Staff in general don't really seem to care about you (unless they're the personal trainers/group trainers)

I went to this location around 8am and no one was there to greet me or help me. I wanted to sign up for a membership, and even signed up for a 7 day pass online since no one was at the desk to help me. My 7 day pass ended up expiring, and a crew member was unable to assist me, the main issue was he made me feel very rushed and was doing other tasks while talking to me. I wanted to fully understand the membership, and was unable to. I understand this is a busy gym, and you have others to attend to, but, I was ready and willing to sign up for a member plan. I ended up taking my business elsewhere.

Dirty, smelly, and disgusting showers with no soap. The steam room never works, and its walls, ceiling, and floor are covered with nasty, slimy stuff. Nobody ever cleans the steam room, and the tiles become dark from mold. I think that it's unsafe to be there. One of two lights there doesn't work. The locker room smells like sewage. It's been like this for more than a year, and complaints don't do anything. All my emails are unanswered. Also, the price has been increased twice already. It's time to leave the club.

The cost is usually pretty good if you join during a promotion, locations are convenient and the space is big with most machines or free weight equipment that you’ll need. But my one star review is because it seems like everything is always broken: TV’s in cardio equipment are frequently non-functioning or impaired, showers and sinks don’t work or have poor water pressure, machines are worn down or out of commission for extended periods. The thing that really gets me though is that that the locker room is usually disgusting. The gym itself is dirty and sweat covered but that’s the case at most places. The locker rooms are always a cringy combination of wet, dusty, garbage in the floors and over flowing trash cans. The pool and hot tub have mold and the steam room drips water or sweat on you from the ceiling. Basically, at $12/month, you get what you pay for

Gym itself has a lot of great equipment but the staff here are predatory in their sales pitch, rude and condescending. I was laughed at for stating that my fitness goals did not align with the predatory and unrealistic goals of the trainer (an attempt to get me to sign on for very pricy personal training). If you can avoid the sales pitch, maybe this gym is ok. They also charge a sneaky and arbitrary cancellation fee.

Great midrange gym. I’ve found all the staff to be very friendly and welcoming, not sure why so many people saying otherwise. My trainer, Naomi, is fabulous. Good selection of machines, usually not too crowded except during peak hours. Love the spa and outdoor patio. Some patrons don’t put away equipment and clean up after themselves. Not the staffs fault, but perhaps people can use more reminders.

I was lied to when I signed up. I was told I was able to get a refund for my second year.. I called customer service talked with Gabby who wouldn't help me. She claims she's a customer service manager. "Managers" who hang up on customers should be fired.I strongly encourage everyone to use a different gym!

I go the Xsport at Piper's Alley because its inexpensive and close to home. Its dirty and there is no warm nor hot water in the ladies room. Also, the air conditioning doesn't work on a consistent basis in the summer. I complain but nobody here cares. Nobody seems to know how to place a work order to get things fixed. Angel was rude giving me nothing but attitude when I begged her to do a maintenance request. The mens room has hot water ...go figure! All they care about is taking your money and selling memberships. The price has increased twice in the past 3 yrs. Do yourself a favor and spend more money and go elsewhere. Update: Just spoke to Laura who is wonderful. She is a manager and very customer service oriented. She explained that a pipe is broken and this is why there isn't hot water in the ladies room. Why didn't anyone at the front desk tell me this yesterday?!? Of course there's still the problem with the club being dirty. She indicated that she's working on this. I feel better!

I had a 2 year membership starting 2019, Covid happened and I couldn’t use the second year of my membership. I called this location about it and they said they would pause my account until I’m ready to come back in. I called this location recently and they said it was never paused and they needed me to purchase another 2 year membership if I wanted to come back in. So I never got to use my second year and was lied to about my account being frozen. The membership manager didn’t want to make it right with me just wanted to charge me again even though it’s not My fault. Won’t be going here.

It’s a great gym for a really good price. Marcus teaches some amazing classes. Only problem is how crowded it gets from 5 to 7 on weekdays. But if you avoid that time it’s a great gym overall

What an absolute, disrespectful piece of work their membership guy is (bald, tattoos). A friend and I came in to genuinely looking to sign up. We got a tour and we were ready to sign, but this guy…. I don’t know if it’s because we were two guys in our 20’s and he can’t function in spaces with other men, or he just has the worst social skills, but he was beyond awful. He attempted to intimidate us the entire time, was short with every answer, and laughed at our questions. We would’ve 100% signed up if it wasn’t for him.

This location is great. I’ve been coming to this xsport for the last 4 years and I won’t workout anywhere else. The staff (ESPECIALLY LUCINDA) are always super nice, and welcoming with smiles. The ladies at the front desk are always super helpful. I love working out at this gym. Highly recommend!

The equipment is pretty old and the free weight space is very small. After work on weekdays it's crazy busy so you have to wait around a long time to use free weights / machines. If you're just going to use the gym for treadmills / ellipticals / etc, then it's a good spot. Also, the pool hasn't been too busy when I've used it and there is a hot tub. I like that it has a basketball court, but it's also very busy after work. Overall, it feels pricey for what it has to offer.

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!! I came here today for the first time to try out a free week. The consultant asked me for my id, but I didn't have it because I'm just going to get it at the end of January. I asked if my apartment lease and passport would be suitable as proof of residence in Illinois. He said I don't know and told me to fill out a questionnaire with all my personal data. I filled out and signed something like a user agreement, after which he said that he could not register me without an ID. This is just nonsense! Why did he ask me to fill out all these forms if he knew he couldn't register me without id? I've wasted my time! He was also very very rude to me. There is no desire to return to this hall anymore.

Dirty and maybe a hygiene risk. Here’s a pic from just an hour ago of the drinking fountain. Yes, I am also calling the number on the sign. But this is so disgusting that it also merits public shaming with this post. Drinking fountains should be cleaned EVERY DAY. I’ll increase my review once if it gets rectified quickly. Update: I posted originally one star based on the review above. It’s two months later, and I’ve changed it four stars. They immediately cleaned the fountain after my complaint posted and have kept it clean since. Seems like real progress. They seem responsive to customer feedback.

Came in considering signing up and the membership advisor (tall-ish guy with tattoos, never even gave us his name) was rude, dismissive, and hostile. Unfortunate since the facility is decent, but definitely not signing up here. Refused to let us buy a single-use pass just to try it out before putting money down, and instead demanded we give him our ID's. Who knows if it was a power move or incentive for us to come talk to him again about rates, but was not cool and the reason why they didn't get us to sign up.

I really like this location. However, looses points because the showers are in need of repair and have needed for some time. Some don’t have hot water and some don’t even have handles to turn the water on. It’s a roll of the dice if there will even be soap in the showers. Generally pretty clean though with a decent amount of equipment. Nice hot tub and garage parking.

The location is great. As for the gym, it's typical. Pretty dirty and way too busy. I'm not sure how they were able to sell as any many memberships as they do. There are only a few hours a day when it's not too busy. I've seen lines of people waiting for machines before and have also walked in when there weren't free weights to pick up and use. If you try and go angtime between 5 -7 pm plan to do body weight movements or plan to be there for a few hours to get your workout in. Between these times, ive seen every single cardio machine full and no space in other parts of the gym. Several of the machines are not upkept. You can guarantee that anything with fabric is ripped or damaged. It doesn't seem like the managment of this location has any intention of fixing this. I've been a member for almost a year. I've gone at all different times and go to the gym almost everyday, and I have seen staff members cleaning MAYBE once. Spray bottles and paper towels for cleaning equipment are often not refilled. Meaning that members also are usually not cleaning after themselves. Several sections of the gym are closed off for personal training or classes. Use of that gear is not permitted even if it is not being used.... There are always staff in the building, but again, never staff walking around, picking up, or helping members. If you are looking to sign up, do not pay full price and even then be weary. There are lots of other options in the area that are competitive cost wise and that maintain higher standards.

I don't think any gym at this price point would get a five star review. However, for a neighborhood gym with these amenities and this equipment, I couldn't ask for anything better for this price. The staff is friendly, helpful, and the facilities are clean. Just wish they'd bring back the towels!

This club gets two stars because it has free parking via the Mariano's garage. But let me give you a guided tour of the place and then you can make your own decision Enter off Broadway. You can wait for the elevator, one of which has been out of service for a week prior to this review. Or, you can take the stairs. But make sure you say hi to one of the homeless guys who may be sitting on the steps in the alcove during cold weather. Once upstairs, check in and make your way to the locker room. I can't speak for the women's but the men's locker room has an abundant supply of shower stalls containing half empty water bottles and other trash, luke warm shower water, empty hand soap and paper towel receptacles and, in my case, one guy who hit on me in the sauna. It's lacking in benches to sit on while you change Ready to work out? If you like a TV w your cardio machine, good luck finding a machine that has one. And, if you are fortunate enough to find one, it most likely only offers one channel or is frozen with captions on it that are also frozen. I like to spin so I took a spin class. My bike was great. Well, my fourth bike was great. The first two had non-adjustable seats and the third was missing a pedal. The instructor was very helpful, informing me that "most of the bikes don't work" when I asked her why the numbers on my screen kept disappearing My yoga instructor was great too, especially when he showed up on time, which was never. But hey, if this sounds appealing, give it a try. Just remember that, if you cancel, they will charge you 10 bucks. To CANCEL Continued good health to you

We just entered the building to start our first day at the gym, we changed because it was closer to our apartment, we bought the most expensive monthly fee and received the worst service from one of their employees, with a rude and racist attitude. , it's not fair, that person lives off our salary... I was really dissatisfied and I do not recommend this place due to customer service problems. Gym is good in most regards except the whole place is smelly, and the locker rooms are especially gross. I would not use the showers, or steam rooms since it looks like that whole section is never cleaned. The smell alone is awful. Did the $20 a month w/ 2 year commitment but now regretting it after coming to this gym for just a week now.

They just try to rip you off, they send you every single details about pointless spas, but forget to inform you about membership extension, I took an yearly plan which ended in August, yet they charged me for 2 months of membership and yearly maintenance, When I asked for refund, the answer was we cannot do anything about it, also my mail was just aired, Even though I am out of town for six months, I thought of renewing my membership when I come back, but not now! I hope they make their customers service as good as their machines. Disappointed!

I switched from the Planet Fitness on Broadway because it was too small. Xsport has great equipment, the sauna is great and their additional spa features are a bonus…. But I’m giving it the low rating because of the crowds. My one hour workouts are now at least 2 hours, sometimes 2.5 because of insanely busy this place is. I’ve been an active gym go-er for 5+ years and I’ve never in my entire life have had to wait for every single machine. I’ve literally had to stand in lines, ask people to find me so I know when a squat or bench has opened up. My gains have declined because of having to stand around and cross your fingers that not every single dumbbell you need is missing from the rack. I’ve never been one to ask if I could step in or use equipment during rest periods, but Xsport on Broadway leaves you no other option. I’ll try going at 5am- busy. 9pm-busy. It’s non-stop and the after work rush is unlike anything I have ever seen. I don’t know how they can change this and I don’t fault them for having a booming gym, but this is not sustainable or enjoyable. I cringe on my drive here every morning, knowing that I’ll be forced to stand around and spend too much time waiting. Your time is worth so much more than the cheap fees you’ll pay to go here. I can’t wait until my membership expires so I can RUN, not walk, out of this place.

I moved neighborhoods and this became my new closest xsport. This one did not offer the same priced membership as my old one. I was gouged into a premium membership from $10 a month to $500 for two years ($21 a month). But whatever. The equipment is fine and the that's all that really matters. Friendly folks , Issac can keep it in his pants and their are some weirdos but that's every gym. The worst part is the radio station that makes my little baby ears drip blood hyperbolicly. But they did play AJR today and I had to finish my set early.

Decent gym, has everything you could ask for in a gym and membership isn’t expensive. It beats the only other competition (LVAC) in this location, though this isn’t saying much. be ready to wait for anything you’d want and if it’s broken, expect it to stay that way. It easily has 50+ people on the floor after work and has 3 power racks and 3 benches, which is very silly for a gym with this many sq ft.

Ever since I joined Xsport Broadway I have had the best experience. The manager Casey has gone above and beyond for me whether it be setting me up with an amazing trainer (Marcus❤️), helping me any time that I ask for something, and just making me feel really comfortable. Keep up the good work!

Kayla (personal trainer) has made my gym experience pretty amazing. She is genuinely committed to keeping me on track to hitting my fitness goals. We talk about my nutritional challenges and she suggests options. I discussed my plans to hike in the mountains next year. She immediately discussed what we need to do to get me ready. Kayla is an important part of why this gym is successful. I have already extended my appointments with her at this location (lakeview east).

Casey is a great general manager! He always says hi whenever I walk in, which makes me feel welcome, especially when I’m dragging. I also really appreciated his strict enforcement of the mask mandate, because it keeps all of us safe! When I first joined the gym, he set me up with my incredible trainer, Dayana, who motivates and supports me. I haven’t been to the gym in so long, and I am so glad to finally have a gym home again.

Outside of after work rush hour when it's busy, can always get a good workout in doing everything I need. Nice staff

Marcus was a great trainer to help get into shape and reach my fitness goals. He always kept the workouts fun, different, and challenging. One thing I always appreciated was his attention to detail to help teach me the best ways to lift so I could continue my progress when we were not working together throughout the week. Highly recommend!

I Love going to this Gym! The Front Desk people are Amazing & definitely made me feel welcome every time whether it's with Buying my basic Workout Supplements. Even cool to know a place that's selling Awesome Workout Towels & Shirts. I Always feel refreshed when coming to Work Out & I've gotten the Best Bang for my Buck as far as my Membership Services. The Walls are Great, but more importantly as a whole including Leticia, Mary, Jordan, & George are my favorites going out of their way to either greet or answer any concerns I may have. Casey does a Great Job running this Gym as their GM & he should be commended for the Hard-working & Dedicated Staff he has!

The staff here are all very knowledgeable and friendly! Casey was able to match me with the perfect personal trainer and I’m beyond happy with my results so far. I’ve had an extremely positive experience with the group classes as well, they really push you to your best. Overall, the gym is very clean, well managed, and reasonably priced!

Went here on the 18 of September at 7:45 pm I thought xsport was in the business of health, well-being and fitness. Not this one. They are in the business of sickness and death. Nothing like going to a super spreader event. 80% of the people working out were not wearing masks including the guy behind the front desk. Other xsports are much safer.

This is the best of all the XSport locations I've been to. However, there are some minor issues here and there. The staff are friendly and do their jobs well. However, I wish they didn't allow people to solicit to us outside of the locker rooms. I pay money to be here. I don't need random people trying to sell me a time share or some fitness pills. It's an accepting atmosphere. Patrons are very friendly. I've met a lot of cool people in their classes and sometimes just randomly while doing a set or taking a swim. I have had people get the wrong idea at times, and had to politely step away from situations that may or may not go down in the locker rooms. You really wouldn't notice it unless you seek that kind of thing out though. Or are oblivious like me. Parking is easy. So many places in Chicago require a firstborn before you can put your car in park. No so here. Parking in the garage is free for two hours. I've kept my car there for up to three hours without a problem. Their pool is nice though sometimes there's a wait to get in. I've spent a lot of time pruning in the hot tub waiting my turn. But, there are worse ways to pass the time. I will say their classes are hit and miss. Sometimes the teacher is a no-show. And there's usually no warning. I've been kicked out of a room while waiting for the instructor to show up. Nobody seems to be able to provide an answer for what's going on when this happens. So be prepared for a regular workout just in case that happens to you. Overall, it's a nice place to workout. The place is clean and the equipment gets the job done.
