Small but insightful place of information. This museum will tell you a lot more than you might imagine. Did you know there was an electric street car going from San Francisco to Chico. There were steamboat ferris coming up from SF ( to Marysville and as far as Red Bluff). There was a big Chinatown- whose inhabitants were harassed, killed and eventuell driven out of town. Museum features beautiful altar of the Chinese temple and many more beautiful small windows to a past era. Don’t miss the police exhibit with hilarious description of a wanted criminal ( see video). They also hold special talks - check their events calendar.

A simple small museum that did not shy away from the ugly past of Chico. A beautiful piece of history here.

Small museum. There is a Chinese temple altar but did not say where it came from. At that section, there are some Chinese artifacts. The other half of the museum are bits of pieces of Chico history. Its quite small and probably will finish in less than hour. Staff is welcoming. Museum is free.

I came here as an elementary school student over 30 years ago and now brought my own kiddos here on our visit. Wonderful bits of Chico history. I love that they have the Chinese temple exhibit that I remember from when I was young!

This is a well organized small historical museum. There are displays related to railroads, the Chinese, the dairy industry, the fire department and the police department.

Nice little place. I have been to two or three exhibits there. My favorite was the Chinese exhibit.

They do different venues every few months. Have seen a few and they did a very good job. Last one was someones photos of the history of Chico, and it was wonderful. It is not a very large museum, but they managed to get lots os things displayed. Plan on spending a hour or two. The building is old and love the tiles inside.

This place is so worth checking out! It amazes me how many Chico locals have not been in. I enjoy the exhibits and appreciate what the museum offers our town. Take a peak and learn a bit of Chico history! Great location and easy parking as well. Affordable donations.

Nice little museum in town that has a lot of history about Chico. Would be nice to see sole more information about the natives. Keep up the great work.
