I didn't know that Koreans printed publications hundreds of years before Gutenberg. This temple is a storage for 81 258 wooden printing blocks. Beautiful temple and nice country mountain road trip. Nearby restaurants have interesting mountain vegetarian food with close to 20 side dishes.

An impressive collection that nowadays has to be looked at from too far away. The interior photos in this review were taken by reaching the camera of a mobile device through the grille. You can't actually get that close, but you have to marvel at the collection from outside the buildings. However, I don't regret that I spent a day of my life to stop by here.

One of the most valuable historical stuff of Korea proving how seriously Goryeo dynasty considered Buddism... It's pity that you can see the printing blocks only through the wooden cages.

Amazing history. Roots of Korean culture. 80 000 tablets stored in this location that spread Buddhism to many locations

The temple is a large space with slightly confusing parking but well worth a visit. After paying to park at the gate there are numerous stops and restaurants/shops before reaching the temple proper. Be prepared for a short walk, disabled access throughout though this may involve longer distances. The temple itself offers the usual temple stays, educational programs or for a short visit photo opportunities and coffee shops. The views are stunning and UNESCO did well highlighting the importance of this place, much quieter in winter for those looking for reflection.

Beautiful temple in the mountain. Visitors are required to make a moderate hike on paved path from the parking up to the temple. Spectacular fall foliage in early Nov. Not sure when visitors are allowed to view the actual Tripitaka Koreana.

This is an enjoyable set of temples in a nice mountain environment. You can spend many hours, walking around and letting yourself live the place's calm. I liked the meditation maze.

The place I want to recommend is Haeinsa Temples's Tripitaka Koreana. It is located in Hapcheon, Gyeongsangnamdo. In my experience, it is more convenient to go by car than by public transportation because it is located in the mountain. Admission is 3,000 won for adults, 1,500won for teenagers, and 700 won for children. The place is one of the top three temples in Korea, so I felt grandeur as soon as I saw it. If you walk while looking around the temple, you will see Temple Janggyeong Panjeon with created in the 11th century by engraving the teachings of Sakyamuni on a scripture plate to prevent the invasion of Kitan. Maybe that’s why I felt the history of that time when I saw the Tripitaka Koreana. There is a theme park for the Tripitaka Koreana near Haeinsa Temple’s Tripitaka Koreana. You can see about the Tripitaka Koreana and the culture of the people at that time and watch videos there. It was nice to have on experience where I could stamp a scripture plate on paper and try on Hanbok so that I wouldn’t get bored. I was impressed by the Tripitaka Koreana because I felt the history of our country, and there are places where I can experience it, so I recommend going here!

An incredible site to learn more about Korean tangible and intangible culture. An extremely compelling instance of Korea's Buddhist history and national preservation.

Kind of unostentatious looking if you don't know what it is, but if you do, it's an incredible sight to see, and amazing to be able to get so close to such a treasure.
