Take a bus (1.5 hours) from Seobu bus terminal (connected with metro line 1, Daegu). From bus stop there's a 1.2 km to temple, green, nice, uphill. You can be able to catch a taxi, if you for instance have luggage for your temple stay. Bus runs every 40 min, bring cash to pay for bus trip back (8100 won). Book café on temple grounds. Cafés and restaurants along the walk. I didn't do a temple stay, but you can book online and pay for it cash at the temple. Very nice that it's a working temple. Hiking paths up the mountain.

I stayed this temple for 3 days due to meditation program. It's bit far from Seoul, almost 5 hours and half. But the nature, heritage, programs, monk, most being in this temple was quite impressive and beautiful, full of joy even include almost people I met. I totally recommend to stay this temple who seeing my review.

Historic place with beautiful buildings. At 10:00 the monks start praying until 11:00 when the drums and bell end the session. All the stored wooden books are simply amazing. Also, the number of visitors seems to be low which is a relieve after the metropolitan areas in Korea. The were actually raising money for a train connection to the temple. Is it wicked to hope they won't succeed?

The most impressive temple I ever visited. Very well maintained facility as well as it is regarded one of 3 gem temples in Korea as Budda's teaching thanks to Palman Daejanggyeong printing blocks.

Haeinsa is a beautiful temple with lots of things to do in the surrounding. Cute Hanok-shaped coffee shops and most of green path ways to enjoy nature. The temple also offers temple stays for those looking to enjoy the full experience. From Haeinsa you can also hike to the peak of Gayasan.

If you enjoy a nice hike, consider starting at the beginning of Sound Road (소리길). I've walked it both in Spring and Autumn. Autumn gave the best colors, but Spring was really sweet after the cold winter. Haeinsa is quite a ways away, but the nature walk to the temple is worth it. The temple offers a temple stay, guided tour, and the option to write on a temple tile!

The temple is beautiful and I highly recommend it if you want to learn about Korean Buddhism. I did a templestay program with some friends and had a great experience. We had a monk teach us the proper way to bow and the importance and history of it. We saw the drum and bell ceremony which was very unique. You could feel the vibrations of the bell shiver through your body if you stand close enough. knowledgable They had the most energetic english guide. He was very passionate and knowledgeable about the history of Haeinsa. We got to enjoy a 3 vegan meals prepared by the monks. The gift shops was nice to buy a souvenir and they even have a cafe that sells teas and coffee with a variety of pastries. 10/10 would recommend if you want to experience something new and unique. The temple is over 1000 years old and has a lot of history to be learned.

I will tell you ablut my Haeinsa experince. I went to Haeinsa with my family. I went there onece when I was young, and it was a new feeling to visit again. Haeinsa Temple is located in Hapcheon-gun,Gyeongsangnam-do,and can be reached in two hours Gwangyang by car. There are many restaurants and attractions in Haeinsa Temple, and The scrnery is very nice. It is also a good place to learn history because there is the Tripitaka Koreana registered in UNESCO. This place where you can eat while looking at the scenery, and study history while looking at the Tripitaka koreana is good to come with your children. I recommend you to go there!
