Been here 2×now and it sucked both times. I came in a great mood and left in an even worse one. I have had their burgers and I must say they are very bland and flavorless for the pricing of them! It was like chewing on a water filled hamburger patty. If that's even possible! I will say that some of the staff their are ok but others are very inconsiterate and very strung out up on their high horse. And lack judgment and common sense along with empathy and customer service. My second time their was today 8/22/23 and I figured I'd try again cause I had only eatan one burger and had judged this place off of that. So I thought the rest can't be as bad can it? but oh was I wrong. I ordered a large onion ring for me and my wife a small cheesy bread stick and two chicken and fry baskets well kids meal for the little one and wife and a side of coleslaw! And for desert fungus or bacteria filled frozen chocolate covered bananas. "#68 they called and I was ready to demolish this all cause I was starving and hadn't eatin all day. As I walked to the table I eyeballed all the food besides the bread sticks which were in a box and the onion rings all looked way to crispy!(almost burnt) so I sat down and dug in and I can tell you exactly what they did! They turned the temp up on the grease to cook the breading faster nearly burning it and left almost raw gooey onions in the middle trying to speed things up! I've worked in fast food and around food alot I have seen it all and this was one I'd seen done multiple times before . So I tried the bread sticks and they were decent.along with the chicken basket. So I figured I'd get desert and call it a day there so I decided to get two frozen chocolate dipped bananas a past time treat I have loved forever until today. I bought one for my 2 year old to try along with me to pass down the goodness of the combo. As I'm munching on it I notice a difference in taste from what I'm use to and that the middle of my banana is red. only the center though. Didn't think anything of it thinking it was from something they added but I was wrong! I got half way done and decided to look up this mysterious redness in my banana I'd never seen before in the 30 years I've been alive! It was a fungal bacteria.!!!!! Gross!!!! No not harmful to humans if consumed but still none the less gross. So my wife takes the banana up there and asks them for a refund on both and if that was normal obviously knowing it's not just to see what they'd say. The girl at window gets her (my wife) a manager and he explains to my wife that he assured her that it's a normal thing and that it's always like that! My wife being non confrontational doesn't say anything but instead walks away with fungi banana in hand and no refund after she said she wanted it for both. I call a short time later after hearing that she did not receive the refund and the manager after I told him what was wrong with both bananas I bought there still refused my refund and continued to tell me that red centered bananas are normal and trys to assure me that if he had bought something of that nature he wouldn't want a refund. I asked him how many times he has gone to a store and bought bananas and broke them open after putting them in a freezer and found a red center in any of them and the only answer he could muster up was that if he went to the store and bought a seedless watermelon and found one seed he wouldn't take it back cause that's what happens!!! FREEZE!!! What??? Did he really just say that???? So I continued to ask him why if I wasn't satisfied with something from there place that I couldn't get a refund and that's all he kept saying. And then finally told me to call hannafords where they got there bananas from and talk to them and hung up on me! I wasn't disrespectful at all but very polite and straight to the point .guess he didn't like the fact that I knew what I was talking about. But if I see this gentleman again I will shake his hand and thank him for leaving my 2 year old and I a fungus filled banana to eat. Never again will I go back!

Great location, especially with the kids. "It's all good" The chicken burger and fried mushrooms is my go-to.

Me and my son had a great time. Love the ducks that hang out around us. Photos are from my drone over the lake.

Well the food is fantastic but the service was not. The online hours for the 4th read open till 9. However they closed at 8. Not a big deal except instead of telling us, after making solid eye contact multiple times, they just flipped the sign to closed. Never said a word to use. So incredibly rude and unprofessional.

They're open!! The food is good, but I can grill a better burger and Onion rings for the price of a basket. The view of the lake will be much better when the ice is out, the docks are in and not piled up where the picnic tables go... On the right day, this is a great little place... Especially for the boaters who pull up to the docks, to grab a bite to eat and a really nice soft serve ice cream 😋

This is an update to a review I posted several years ago. And here's an addendum (added one week later) with more great news! The new owners have done a marvelous job in taking over at The Landing! This is my new GO TO PLACE! 1) 🦞 LOBSTER ROLLS! Get the Lobster 🦞 Roll!! It's a BARGAIN, full of fresh, sweet, juicy lobster packed into a (properly split-top) toasted roll. They ask if you'd like mayo or butter, which is grest.👍 I am thrilled with their lobster rolls, excellent value for the money! Spend $25 here or twice that at the place down the road....choice! 2) DAILY SPECIALS ARE A BARGAIN! The daily specials are indeed a great value, so check the outdoor sign for what's being offered that day. 3) MUCH BETTER THAN McD, and MUCH LESS EXPENSIVE!! CHICKEN BASKET + FRIES Today's special was a chicken basket with French fries, for $8.95. This chicken sandwich is out of this world delicious! I am sorry I didn't take a picture for you, but it was SO tasty I refused to get up and go get my phone -- I just wanted to keep on enjoying eating it. The breaded breadt cutlet is GIGANTIC -- way bigger than the large bun it is served on -- super tender, moist and fried to crispy perfection. (The last chicken sandwich from McD was all tendon and completely inedible, I fed it to the dog it was so lousy. Complete waste of $!) Ask for it just how you'd like: I got mayo, real fresh tomato slices that tasted like tomatoes!, fresh large whole leaves of iceberg lettuce -- not that shredded mess of limp lettuce. I added raw onions, but if you want sautéed onions, all you have to do is ask! 4) FRENCH FRIES!!!!!! The accompanying French fries (no extra charge w/ basket deals) are...CRISPY! Hot! Delectable! Not one flabby,, dead, soggy fry. Worth the price of admission right there. 5) SERVICE IS GREAT! The service has always been great, even when the lines are long. The lines do move quickly so don't despair, it goes FAST! 6) LOUDSPEAKER TO CALL YOUR ORDER IS READY They will call (announce) your order # is ready via loudspeaker. So, do NOT stand beneath the damn loudspeaker, or you will be sorry. The loudspeaker is located on the very lefthand side roof edge overhang. People congregate there, underneath the speaker. It is so damn loud, beware! You have been warned! 7) ICE CREAM, SERVING SIZES And the ice cream servings are huge, so again the value is there. I only get soft serve, so I cannot speak to the huge variety of hard flavours they carry. Supposed to be incredibly delicious!! 8) DOGS + ICE CREAM!! My dogs are trained to put their front paws up on the counter to order their own "Pup Cups" of soft serve ice cream crowned with a milkbone biscuit. Bella B could fork over the cash or credit card to pay for her order, Aspen is still learning how to do that part. Both of the dogs know how to TIP your server! DOGS Dogs are welcomed with open paws, uh I mean arms. They should be on a leash or under very good voice control. Please don't let the dogs attack the ducks along the lake's edge, especially when there are ducklings about. (And please don't feed the ducks!!) A word about TIPS from a former wait staff person: Please people , TIP!! The workers are performing 99% of the work you receive at a sit-down restaurant. Waitstaff workers are not paid well, their income is dependent upon tips. Owners of eating establishments structure the pay rates, to include the anticipated tips! as how they determine how little they can get away with paying workers. Just because I put your food on a tray, or into a bag -- doesn't mean i didn't work on your order, that I didn't do my best to enhance your dining experience. So please TIP! Think about it -- an extra $5 or $10 to you isn't that big a deal. But to a waitstaff worker, it really means a lot. Becharitable, makes your ❤ feel sooooo good. Thank you!! ***LOCATION ON THE LAKE!*** Plus you can't beat the location!! Right on the edge of China Lake, come on! Water! Ducks! People! Doggies! It's wonderful!!!

We ate there this week. Juicy burgers, and delicious ice cream shakes, pleasant and accommodating staff, very quick service and great picnic area view. We will certainly return.

Great food. Beautiful view of the lake while eating. Picnic tables to eat at. Prices are good. The apple turnover is amazing and the Fried Oreo Sunday is unbelievable.

It was pouring!! Mr Right had 2 hotdogs plain, he was perfectly satisfied. I had fried dough, it was awesome, served with butter, cinnamon & sugar.

Having stood the test of time, The Landing has been an iconic cornerstone in our community for several years. The longevity of this establishment speaks volumes about the consistent quality, passion, and dedication they pour into every facet of their business. One of the standout aspects of The Landing is its commitment to freshly prepared food, made-to-order. Each dish is a testament to the culinary prowess of the chefs, who evidently take immense pride in their work. Ingredients are fresh, flavors are robust, and the presentation is always impeccable. There's a palpable difference when you're served a meal that has been crafted as opposed to merely assembled, and this difference is evident in every bite at The Landing. Another admirable trait of this restaurant is its rootedness in the community. Owned and operated by local business owners, there's an authenticity and intimacy that permeates the atmosphere. The staff, most of whom are local workers, brings warmth and familiarity to the experience. They treat you not just as a customer, but as a guest — a friend, even. In a world where chain restaurants are becoming the norm, places like The Landing are a breath of fresh air. They remind us of the importance of community, of taking a moment to savor the food, and of the genuine connections that can be forged over a shared meal. If you're looking for a dining experience that feels both personal and gourmet, look no further than The Landing. Their longstanding reputation is well-earned, and their commitment to quality and community is truly unparalleled.

The outdoor dining is very nice over looking the lake. It should be noted that there is no inside dining. However, they closed down for the season in late September or early October.
