not a small peripheral museum. This place is fairly big. And very interesting with all kind of archaeological findings from the area. with many sculptures and potery. Quite impressive the macedonian tomb on its yard. its exhibition is turning rather old and has to be renovated. a nice place to visit unfortunately no photos are allowed. Photos are not just a touristic action its an essential part of a museum visit. The people in charge of the museums in greece have to be forced to understand that the exhibits are not theirs to keep and "rule" but part of the (world) cultural heritage.

While visiting the museum, somebody constantly followed us. I wouldnt say that i was visiting happily. When i asked the grey-haired (probably person in charge) about this situation, she told me it was a normal procedure. this is the first time i see something like this and its not nice. anyway the museum is small but nice archaeological museum.

This is an ordinary and very small archeology museum. As a museum I didn’t expect too much but still it was really very poor organized. But all of these still doesn’t matter. What matters is that two ladies there always followed me everywhere. I understand that they’re supposed to keep an eye on the museum. But as a person who saw many museums in Turkey and Europe, this was the first time I felt being chased, stalked and treated as sort of smugglers. This was very rude, I just want to say it and not to go with further assumptions.

(Translated by Google) The Museum is close to the port with disabled access from the street which is definitely extremely useful given that it is built on a hill and has quite a few steps. It includes exhibits from all eras and from all the archaeological sites of Chios. The statuette of the goddess Cybele with the two lions stands out. There is also the skull of a young man who has suffered a cranioversion. The staff are polite and willing to explain given that there is no more printed material. I was impressed by the presence of the museum guide in Braille. Definitely worth a visit!

Amazing pieces of history. I saw lots of archaeological museums so far but here some things I saw first time and very reach of history island. Worth to visit in Chios. P.S: island have lots of old beautiful buildings around and many of them abandoned/not restored. You need more work on that in Chios
