Aug 2023 up date -Something has changed here big style ! Either the chef has gone or they've got greedy -Booked for today to treat my mother to lunch -whoah-the menu has changed to a standard pub type menu -but with ott prices ! I'm sorry but a mince steak and onion pie with chips and mushy peas isnt £17.95 anywhere except here ! Grilled chicken breast with chips tomatoes mushrooms and onion rings -£16.95 -another £3.5₩ for a sauce -really ?? Staff still ok but half empty on a Sunday lunch - no surprise there ! 12 months ago ..... Superb in all areas -from the ambience to the staff -and then food that is on another level again ! No rush - no fuss -piping hot delicious food and very busy too ! Realy can't express how good it is here -go try it yourself ! Highly recommended !! Now I wouldn't recommend-expensive but nothing special anymore !!!

Fantastic place! Such a cozy and welcoming environment, the owners and staff are extremely personable and maintain professional standards every time we have been. Booking is a breeze, its in a super accessible area on a little turn off and is well priced for the quality of the service and food. Would highly recommend here! A hidden gem. 🎉

I would highly recommend The Rose and Crown. We had Sunday lunch which was delicious and portion size was perfect and very good presentation. Staff were all very attentive and friendly. We have previously stopped here just for a drink and always made to feel welcome. We will definitely return very soon.

We had a lovely time at the Rose and. Crown last night. They looked after us again. This was our fourth visit and we were celebrating my birthday. The food was excellent and they catered for all our needs. A three year old a thirteen year old and six adults plus a dog. The staff, atmosphere and company made the evening brilliant. Thanks again we will be back. Xx Sue

Excellent food and good choices. Good service and great value for money. Very polite staff. Busy at lunch time but good atmosphere. When somewhere is this good you need to book in advance.

Called in just for a drink on a Saturday at 15:15...pub was really busy with diners and great to see for a local pub/restaurant. As we were just having a drink, the staff recognised this and cleared a dining table so we could sit rather than stand.... fantastic....waiting at the bar to be served...if it's busy they recognise you, say they'll be with you soon...great...bends the waiting time and you know they know you are there....there was a new starter today called Maria....really attentive, looking for work to do, and we got chatting with her....really hope she is successful as we think she will be a great addition to the team given good mentoring...all in all, a great pub, really busy with food, that shows its quality, and superb service...we will become regulars and it's definitely a place to visit...enjoy..

Had a lovely meal with family. It got busy pretty quickly so it is a popular place. Portions were a good size and a pretty good choice. Service was good, friendly atmosphere. Would go again. Unfortunately as it was on one of the hottest days of the year, they had to close the kitchen due to staff illness, so we missed out on what would be a great dessert. Will just have to go back some other time for that 😊

Everything was excellent on this visit and every previous visit. The pork belly pancake starter was incredible. I'm already looking forward to my next visit.

Very busy with diners at 7pm on a Wed - always a good sign. Varied menu and specials board. Food was excellent and the service matched. Would definitely advise to book ahead.

Fantastic food in a lovely atmosphere. Visit with work once a month, staff are friendly and very accommodating. It's always busy, so recommend the need to book in advance. Prices are on the expensive side but the quality of food is amazing.

To be frank I was a little worried as the car park was full when we turned up but our table for 6 had plenty of room around it. Menu is not massive but it is varied and what they do is good. What really makes the place is the staff. Attentive, polite but not in your face and they were a credit to the place. The only reason I have not given 5 stars is I would have liked a slightly larger menu.

Although expensive, the food and service was really good. I think the drinks are very expensive, large white wine/soda and pint of San Miguel £ 12.80. However, for a Wednesday evening the place was full. Indeed you need to book to go, so they are absolutely doing it right! I would recommend a visit.

My husband and myself came here today for the first time, the food was excellent we both had starters followed by the lamb roast. We will definitely be back. We have booked here for my husbands 60TH Birthday in April, really looking forward to it.

A fabulous dining pub. Excellent food in good portions. Can't praise enough the brisket of beef we had on our latest visit..just fell apart in its luscious gravy. The staff are very friendly and helpful, always taking the time to chat, give advice on the daily specials. Just a lovely place to dine whatever the occasion.

Not been here for 2 years but a wonderful experience. Welcomed on arrival and taken to our pre booked table. Given menus with explanation of soup and pie of the day. Drinks order taken. Food arrived in good time despite being very busy and excellent meals. Further drinks ordered as soon as our empty glasses spotted. Asked for dessert menu. This was the test. 2 years ago our party of 5 waited 30 minutes without success to give a dessert and coffee order. We paid and left disappointed. No such issues here. Double chocolate brownie ordered and delicious. Asked for bill and paid with a most deserved tip. Food excellent and very attentive staff. Nearly forgot the important bit. A choice of 3 cask ales, the Youngs bitter was very good. A perfect occasion we hope to experience again very soon.

Went for a couple pints with my family and dog. Cosy and warm pub on a rainy night we attended. It's very dog friendly and the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend and will try the food next time.

I visited the Rose and Crown with my extended family for an after funeral celebration. It was able to accommodate our large party of people and their other customers. Wonderful atmosphere and the staff worked really hard and we're pleasant. On that ground I would recommend that people book as it is so popular. Thumbs up 👍🏾

The owners were very helpful booking me and my son in on very short notice. The service was exceptional and the food excellent. Would highly recommend but book early because an excellent pub/restaurant are very hard to come by.

Had a lovely early tea on NYE with family. Staff were very friendly and efficient even though it was extremely busy. The king prawns to start were delicious, good size portion with salad garnish and garlic ciabata. The salmon main was a special and had a parmesan crust. Slightly too salty for my taste but cooked well and came with veg and a lovely potato and spinach cake. My husband had the black pudding starter and burger for main, both of which he thoroughly enjoyed. We had never been before but will definitely return. 🙂

About 9yrs ago, I vowed not to come again and after hearing the great reviews, I gave it a second go. I can wholeheartedly say, what a massive change. Food was amazing, great portion size, good choice and a good quality. Staff very attentive, friendly and honest but honouring your space. Lovely atmosphere, very chilled and relaxed. You have turned this place around and I’ll be back again - thank you for returning it back to a great place.

Very cosy and comfortable pub. Greeted by staff on arrival and shown to table. Very good menu with plenty of choice. The three meals purchased were excellent, well presented, hot and perfectly cooked. Great friendly staff. Excellent cask beer at great price. Enjoyable Friday lunch 3rd June.

The Rose and Crown is a lovely place to eat and the food is delicious. The only downside is that there is no seating or area to wait for your table other than standing at the bar and close to tables where people are eating, which isn't ideal. However, that said the food is definitely worth the wait. The salmon with the potato cake and creamed veg was delicious as was the fruit crumble for dessert. I would definitely recommend this resturant.

Visited the Rose & Crown for the first time having received a recommendation from a friend who often eats there. We travelled from Liverpool met up with friends thank goodness they reserved a table as it was very busy at 5pm. The staff are super friendly as are the two owners, the food was delicious, service was first class, the place had a great atmosphere. We will definitely be returning in the near future.
