Fantastic little cafe. 5 Stars for its category. It's not a restaurant. Very simplistic but good country menu & food. Don't go expecting a high grade restaurant experience, it's a cafe after all. Very scenic location. Service and staff was great. Prices average for a cafe. Only downside is it's very popular, especially with the lycra clad, pedal power brigade.

Good views over the lake, outside seating, basic menu with good food. Very popular with cyclists their riding shoes make a clatter which is a noise nuisance. Gives great views over 1 of the lakes but you are not allowed to walk ther as privately owned. Cafe is right out in the sticks down country lanes.

It's a great cafe off the beaten track next to a lake. There is plenty of seating outside so people can enjoy the views. Each of the outside bench tables is equipped with parasols, just in case the sun comes out. There is also plenty of seating inside the cafe. Service was quick and friendly. Once you have placed your order, you are given a wooden spoon with a number on it, and your food will then be brought to your table. Before you leave, the counter you have a little wait while they make your drink. Then you just find a place to sit and relax. Within a few minutes, my food arrived. My bill came to £6.50 for a bap with veggie sausages and a large americano. Both were excellent, and at that price, great value for money.. It was, and I believe it is regularly very busy with cyclists. When I visited, I would say it was 50/50 with cyclists and non cyclists, and it is to see why the place was busy. In my opinion, it is one of the best cafes I have been to for quite some time.

Lovely little hide away location with a very relaxing coffee & cake. Great view which can only be described as a hidden gem. Would recommend an outdoor table on a nice day and staff are lovely. Will definitely be back!!

A very pleasant café. Staff welcoming and friendly. Lovely inside and outside seating areas with a view of the lakes. Dogs allowed outside on leads. We'd a sausage & bacon barm and a hot chocolate. Both very good. A hidden gem and we'll be heading back.

A great cycling destination! The team work hard and are so organised at getting orders out quickly. Lots of space inside and out and beautiful views over the lake. Food is mainly sausage/bacon/baked beans type if fare with some excellent cakes.

Fabulous cafe. Caters primarily for cyclists, but also anyone else who fancies a brew in a lovely location. John is a great host, and the rest of the staff are just as welcoming

What a great cafe ! First time here after completing one of their hosted bike challenges "The Skemalayas". The staff and owner are lovely people very chatty and friendly. Food is very good as is the coffee. Plenty of seating both inside and out. The views outside look over the lakes. Most certainly will be coming back.

A really well set up, clean and very well run eating establishment. Great food, lovely staff. And loads of cycle racks. I loved it.

Called at a quiet time but still a few cyclists evident. Bet it's busy on a Sunday? The cafe is a little off the beaten track. However, we don't know the area very well. It is nestled next to a lake which is very picturesque. Our food was very nice where we sat outside on the benches provided. Very nice! Lots of good fodder for cyclists or anyone who cares to visit.

Stopped for a coffee and toast after a bike ride. Quick service, excellent coffee and toast. Ella took all our orders and got through the queue in no time 🙂 Lovely peaceful scenery outside, with the twin lakes in the background.

Superb café catering especially for cyclists but you don't need a bike to take advantage of this gem of a place.

  • 5/5 Les Quatre F. 5 months ago on Google
A warm welcome awaits at the Velo Cafe. John and Julie are exceptional hosts. A hot Latte to wash down a tasty packed white barm filled with sausage and thick cut back bacon. YUM. This is a hidden gem AND you don’t even need a bike to enjoy a moment to rest after a long walk. 👍

Superb food and excellent service. A great place to stop when out cycling. The kids love their brunch here.

  • 5/5 Eric L. 10 months ago on Google
Dropped in during our 8mile walk, lovely spot, great views, lovely staff, extremely busy with cyclists on our visit, but not surprising. Definitely call again

  • 4/5 Mick H. 11 months ago on Google
Lovely place not 5 stars as the coffee was lukewarm at best. Need to re-adjust the machine. Its a hot drink not a warm drink. Easily sorted, but next time pot of tea with boiling water (hopefully) for me.

I've been here a few times now and always enjoy the food. The service is great - the staff do their best to please. Lovely location and, when the weather is good, you can enjoy your meal outside overlooking the twin lakes. The bacon is particularly good 😋 I'll certainly keep going back.

Great place. Hidden gem tucked away just outside of Croston. Popular with cyclists and has some of the best photo art on the walls. Food is lovely, nicely cooked. Service is great and they even have beers in the summer when you can sit outside and gaze out on the lakes. Highly recommended.

Lovely cafe by the lake, inside and external seating. Very popular with cyclists. Food is good but more on the snack side type of food. Can be quiet as in a quiet location and off the better track. We'll worth a visit..you will not be disappointed.

Quite an unexpected find near Croston. A bikers watering hole handy for the Lancashire cycleway routes. Excellent lakeside settings and good food..will defo return.

  • 5/5 Alf M. 1 year ago on Google
Had a really good experience here during a pit stop on a bike ride. The sandwich hit the spot and the cake was a welcome addition to the energy reserves. Will return

Bad news when beans were the best item on the breakfast.... Plus = Cafe overlooks a lake in a lovely location 👍🏻 Coffee was nice 👍🏻 Staff seemed friendly 👍🏻 Negative = Breakfast was terrible to be honest, everything was luke warm, sausages undercooked and poor quality, bacon full of fat 👎🏻 Snotty fried egg, not sealed on the top 👎🏻 No black pudding, no mushrooms 👎🏻 I ended up leaving most of the sausage which is a shock for me. I was asked if everything was ok, I replied average to be honest, their reply was ok we will take that.. Maybe a better idea would be to find out why a customer was not satisfied and seek to rectify. In my opinion a bit more investment into a decent breakfast here would turn this place into a gold mine, shame I won't return to find out.

Best Cyclist caf in the area(not just for cyclists tho). Awesome food and coffee. Lovely lake view. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. What else could you want? Alcoholic beverages? Oh, they do that too! 👌🏻👌🏻

  • 1/5 Todd C. 4 years ago on Google
Terrible place, I ordered my food and drink and waited. I knew the food would take time as it was busy. But I didn't expext to wait 20 minutes for my drink, when people behind me were being served. So I walked out buying nothing. Either employ more staff or have a proper system for how you get your drinks.

In the nice weather this is a lovely place to have a coffee or lunch especially sat outside overlooking the fishing lakes. You can't walk around them but that doesn't really matter. It is well worth a visit and is not just for cyclists
