GO HERE! This place is amazing! The owner greeted us and was very friendly the entire time we were there. He recommended the cabeza dish for us to try and it exceeded our expectations. It came with tender meat, tortillas, and consume to make your own tacos. We also got the pastor tacos and those were yummy too. Then we ended our meal with the marzipan flan. This place has ample seating and the food comes out quickly.

Absolutely DELICIOUS! All the flavors were on point! I couldn’t ask for a more authentic taste. All this good food, reasonable prices, AND great service! Perfect. I’ll be back here every chance I get.

Excellent taste and unique experience! I was recommended from Yelp’s Best Tacos in America list, and it did not disappoint. The owner suggested a few things and although it was a bit confusing (didn’t realize we were supposed to put the onions/cilantro mix in the broth in addition to the meat) it tasted great. I think the menu could use more explanation of what to do and what we’re ordering (it seemed like it was all understood by the other regulars) or at least from the server- we only got a small explanation and we were still confused! Whatever it was, it was great. I loved it and will return and try to get more clarity, lol!!

Great restaurant and wasn’t busy at the time that we went around 5:30 on a Tuesday night. Seemed to be only one waitress working but there was a very short wait time for food or service so that wasn’t an issue. It did get busier around the time that we left. The food was tasty and had great flavor. I had the chicken taco, pork belly and head meat. No complaints and would try other things on the menu also.

Great choices! My husband loved the caldo . He said it was one of the best soups he had ever had. Pastor was great too. Great Customer service.

I've lived in SD all my life, and I'm not sure how long this glorious restaurant has been opened for, but I'm glad we discovered it! The food was amazing (try the head meat!) and the staff is extremely friendly. It's not just food. It's an experience! A hidden gem 👍 🌮

One of the most pleasant eating experiences to date! The owner Jesus introduced himself before we were seated and wanted to tell us about the dishes and the service; he wasn’t wrong! We had Gabriela to take care of our table and she was so so pleasant, we were blessed to pick this place from the 5 star yelp reviews for my Mother’s Day lunch. We had the beef soup and tacos and it was so good! They bring it all to the table and your party can just enjoy the food the way you like it put together. The tables were very clean and whatever we needed Gabriela took care of immediately, and that’s not an understatement. The service was excellent! The beef and tortillas were so good but way too oily for my taste but, the freshness of the food just made everything blend in deliciously and it’s not an everyday meal for me. It was a treat and we’ll be back for sure!

Great authentic Mexican restaurant in San Diego, we tried the beef head tacos they were Yummmmy! And for the first time I tried grass hoppers. The lamb head or cabeza en su jugo soup to die for! Awesome place and friendly staff and owner.

We recently visited SanDiego and after asking a young lady who worked in a tourist area Mexican restaurant where she would eat out Mexican if she were going, she recommended De Cabeza. We worked all week to get it into our schedule and finally on our last full day made it there. I will tell you that unequivocally this was the best authentic Mexican food we have had period. We live in a part of the country where we can get authentic Mexican fare, and most is really good, but this place was in a league of its own! The chef heard we had come to check it out and came out personally to meet us and make some recommendations. I never leave reviews but this experience warranted it 100%. Check them out, you won’t be disappointed with the food, the service, or the price I guarantee you.

The best dish here, as the name implies, is Cabeza! Specifically, Res en su Jugo, a special beef stew with incomparable richness similar to pho. Balanced delicately with lime, cilantro, and heartily layered with the ultra tender, savory cheek and head meat of the cow. Definitely a dish for adventurous eaters, but a regional delicacy for a reason. They also offer tacos here with a wide variety of parts not typically seen in your average Mexican restaurant, as well as asada and chicken if you want so stay more on the beaten path.

I just needed something to do while my dog was at the groomer, so I went across the street to this restaurant. I love this place! The owner and staff are friendly, and the food is great! I will be back again 😊

This is a great place to try all types of tacos. The Al Pastor and Cochinita Pibil were my favorites. They also have fair pricing compared to other taco shops in the area.

Delicious! Highly recommended! I had an order of cabeza en su jugo. It was absolutely the best head I have ever gotten. Lol. I also had tacos de chicharron, and I can say it was excellent! I will be returning!

Great place! PLEASE give them a chance to earn your business, you will not be disappointed! Extremely attentive, clean and organized! We did not have to ask for anything at all…mind you , this took place on a busy Friday night! They really make sure and, see to it personally that every customer walks out happy and 100% satisfied! Each and every one of their employees does this! Best traditional food north of the border! Definitely not just one more bellow-to average-mediocre restaurant ! Had not tasted anything this good in many, many years! It brought me back to my childhood years, eating down in Mexico at a local food joint, you can taste the real Mexico in every bite! Worth every penny and then some! Cannot thank Jesus and his crew enough for making our dinner a very memorable one! I saw this food place for a long time from all kinds of bloggers and finally decided to go with my friends after a hike. Small place n parking lots were small but the food was so so good. So go early if you want to park on the spot, otherwise you have to park a little farther away. Will definitely go again n try their sheep head.

Tacos you can taste the quality. We tried 5 different meats and each one was perfect. Even tortillas were more flavorful. Gotta get the consume, it's packed with savory flavor and lots of meat. Towards the end of our meal the chef came out of the kitchen and chatted with us about where the dishes originated. Made us feel like we were old friends. :)

Wow this place is amazing. Customer service was the best, our waitress explained the whole menu and recommended what food to get. She was also very friendly and had great energy. The cook Miguel also greeted us and welcomed us to the restaurant. The sheriff which is the owner of this place also greeted us and welcomed us. The energy of this place is fantastic. The food was 10/10 the best I ever tasted. My mom mentioned to them it is my birthday, so they decided to celebrate my birthday by singing Happy birthday and giving me a flan cake with Happy birthday written on the plant. They made me feel welcomed and part of the family ❤️. Keep in mind this was my first time here. I will be back for sure. If you're having a bad day I would recommend coming to this place, their energy will lift you up and you will leave happy, I promise you. This place is a must try.

First visit for us, Father's day and it was packed. Got a table after 45 minutes of waiting. It is well worth the time, great food and prices are reasonable. Had my first giant michelada, perfect mix. Full lamb head will feed 3 big boys easily, ordered beef soups on the side.

Awesome tacos, served & priced the way that they should be, not the exorbitant prices some "taco shops" are charging. You will get unique cuts of meat that are not even offered in most places because none of the beef goes to waste. From the head (cabeza), cheek, tongue others too exotic to name. They also offer pork & chicken for more mainstream fare. I had a small bowl of broth (consome) which was filling & delicious. Going back today for more.

Friendly staff, and the food was really good. We had a small miscommunication with our order, but everything was good so no complaints. Pollo tacos, pollo plato combo, and chicharron de queso. We are from up north, here for a week and we will come back again before we leave.

We stopped in after having some business in the area and reading a local list that the restaurant is on. Usually not a huge fan of list but in this case the restaurant was exciting and new. Different types of Mexican food we haven’t had very frequently in Southern California. All prepared very well and we tried four different dishes. Even finished with some fried cheese shaped in a roll to go with guacamole. The owner is equally as pleasurable to spend time with and super excited about his food which makes it even better. Definitely give the price to try

If you are looking for authentic tacos de cabeza LOOK NO FUTHER!! They offer mouth watering delicious meats that are in my opinion the BEST tacos in San Diego. They also offer other meats like Al Pastor and Lengua but they specialize in Cabeza. If you like a beer with your meal, they offer your favorite Mexican beers only in Caguama size (40 oz) at the price of a pint any where else. This place is super clean too with a friendly and fast staff. 10 out of 10.

I just ate here for the first time and these tacos were so good, I can't even describe how juicy and flavorful they were. Not to mention the drinks were so delicious and the waitress was super patient and kind as well, I'd absolutely recommend this place

My husband has been here before and he kept insisting that we come by. I am very glad that we did. The food is delicious and the staff is very polite. We went with the chef reccomendation and I dont regret it. The meat was tender and perfect and their conzome was very flavorful. Oh and they are not shy about the tortilla quantity they give you which I appreciated very much. I will be coming back again and I will be bringing my parents.
