I have been going to Coffee Emporium for years now and have had nothing but good experiences. Only to be let down and be treated unfairly by this business one Sunday afternoon. I arrived to Coffee Emporium right before they closed and got to the door exactly at 4:00 PM. At first I tried to open the door but it was locked. I was confused because I had no idea they closed at 4 pm and should have checked beforehand. One of the workers putting things away looked through the glass and mouthed to me “sorry we’re closed”. I had no issue that they were closed, and just walked back to my car. As I am in my car looking for another coffee shop to go to, my boyfriend and I witness this Caucasian lady with a stroller walk up to the door not realizing they are closed as well. As we sit there, we witness her look at the door and flail her hands up theatrically disappointed they were closed. Someone comes up to open the door and very happily takes her order. We see her hand the guy the money and soon after she receives her drink. The concerning thing for me is the fact that Coffee Emporium decided that it was okay to pick and choose who they decide to serve based on how the customer looks. I feel like there was an unconscious bias happening in deciding who got service in that moment. I do not understand why me arriving right at 4 pm causes me to 1. not only get no one to physically come up and talk to me, 2. Not place an order BUT when a Caucasian lady comes up to the door minutes after me, she gets served with great customer service. Truthfully I am beyond disappointed in this business. I have contacted the manager about the issue and talked to Sam/Samantha (said manager), and was told that their policy is no one after closed gets served and would be contacted back, after they looked into the issue. I gave them about 1 to 2 weeks to get back to me and still no response. This just proves that they do not care about certain issues and favor a specific clientele. I will not be returning to this place ever again and will be supporting more inclusive local coffee shops.

This shop has all the essentials plus some really interesting seasonal drinks on their drink menu. I'm a simple oat milk latte kind of guy, and their's gets a near perfect score from me. They also serve up lots of good-looking pastries and some breakfast savories. The maple oat scone I tried was pretty decent -- thick with a good balance of richness and sweetness. Service/servers are very pleasant. It's a small shop inside; there's only sitting room outdoors. Nonetheless, the crowds you see here are a testament to how good they are!

As a first-time visitor to the great city of Cincinnati, I was thrilled to find such a cute, welcoming coffee shop. I loved it so much I visited 3 times during my one-week stay. The manager, Chance, was so friendly, and we had a good chat; he even remembered me when I stopped by again. Definitely get the gluten-free banana nutella muffin. I still daydream about it! Also, if you're a mug collector like me, they have a wide selection of beautifully designed mugs that are such a delight!

(Update) • Lot more open inside as second floor completely open to seating. • Great location, neat seating outdoors, cramped inside, decent coffee • This place is in a cool location and offers great seating outside - in front of the shop, on the side and a large seating area behind the "house." The area behind is probably the coolest, it's underneath a tree, so even in hot days you get a little bit of shade. That being said, it's not a place to come when it gets cold, I would think. The inside of the store has both a counter where you order, then a shelf with plastic containers with beans and a grinder if you want to take some home, but it is cramped. If you come in a busier time and there are more than 2 people there, it gets cramped. Can't imagine trying to stand there to enjoy my coffee on a cold day (when you don't want to be outside). Their downtown location has larger seating. • Coffee quality was pretty good. Wasn't the best macchiato I've had in my life, but it definitely was in line with a "specialty" shop quality that is not a chain. Most likely will be back for the atmosphere, rather than the coffee taste (which again is good).

Great cofee and pleasant staffs. A lovely hangout place, has a great charm and character. Tucked into a quiet neighborhood and surrounded by greenery all around, its canopy area gives you a feel of having a sip in a tree house. Great for quick bites and coffee dates.

I love this coffee shop! This particular location is best visited on a beautiful day so you can take advantage of their large patio, since there is little to no seating indoors. The patio in the back is nice and shaded by large trees and lush greenery. The side patio has multiple tables with umbrellas and super comfortable. There are also some tables in the front, right next to the street. Just perfect for people watching. Coffee is great. My favorite drink is the Brew Hoo (Half coffee and half chocolate milk). One of my favorite coffee shops in the city!

Such a lovely spot to sit out and visit while enjoying CE's always enjoyable coffee! It was a little loud from the AC by the pergola, so we sat out front. CE engages in so many practices to ensure their coffee and packaging are ethical - so impressive!

My friend introduced me to Coffee emporium. I was very impressed with the flavor. I really liked the sweetened latte, and the cold brew. I wanted to buy some coffee for someone as I was bringing it back Minnesota. The person helping me was very nice, and knowledgeable. She even gave me a sample of the coffee I was going to buy. I was impressed. I am coming back when I visit my friend again. Loved the location, very quaint and felt very cozy.

Really nice coffee shop, great coffee, twas, food, upstairs sitting area, plenty of outdoor seating. Would definitely visit again if I am back in Hyde Park. Nicely done.

Expensive - Yes. Quaint - Yes. Local - Yes. Tough to find a parking spot - Yes. Bottom line lovely coffee well worth the price and the trouble. Phenomenal service and a Cincy gem. The espressos remind me of intelligentia of Chicago and wow, they have a quad espresso.

I moved away from Cincinnati a few years ago, but this still remains one of my favorite coffee shops! I love the indoor space as well as the outdoor. The most recent visit I got to bring my puppy and he did really well in the provided shade. I’ve had several of their drinks and pastries and have had only positive experiences! I also came here to study while I was in college and they have a great atmosphere for that as well when they’re not too busy.

Great little coffee shop. Cute outdoor seating area. Stopped in for a Daily drip with Oatmilk. Also tried their GF breakfast cookie. Tasty. Lots of people but will take it as a good sign.

I love this location & I'm embarrassed to admit I didn't realize that they had a second floor until a month or so ago when I last visited here. They have a ton of coffee options & cute merchandise, but my favorite thing to get here is a chaider, which not many places make. I'm also a fan of the downtown location, but this one is my favorite, especially this time of year if it's nice enough to sit outside. Highly recommend for a coffee meeting or friend date.

This is the best all-around coffee shop on the East Side in the warmer months because they have great outdoor seating. They're always just a little too busy, so the wait is always noticable, and it can get crowded inside. They need a larger building in the worst of ways, but the cute little house on the corner motif is part of their charm. I get it. But it does make me careful as to when I'll gamble on going here.

We loved this shop! The 2nd floor seating was delightful and we had a blast sitting by the window watching families, friends and pets come and go. The staff was super quick and efficient in helping all the customers (they were busy!) The blueberry muffin was fantastic. We have been to both locations and they give completely different “vibes” - one much bigger and open (downtown) and this one, much smaller and cozier. Honestly, you can’t go wrong with either!

The coffee is very good and the pastries are fresh very delicious. The place has a patio and the second floor have tables and a restroom. I like to handout with my daughter there and walk in the area. The only thing is not parking lot you need to park down on the street.

First off, the staff is great and has always been super friendly and accommodating to both me and my service dog! They have the best coffee in the whole city, hands down, and the food is outrageously good, especially the seasonal quiches! Please bring back the poptarts!! The main draw though is the absolutely beautiful outdoor seating spaces, especially in the back! It's so peaceful there! They also have ample indoor seating upstairs for super hot or cold days! Literally the only unfortunate thing is the minimal parking, but you can typically find some within a short walk! Overall, 1000/10 all they way around!

Such a quaint, lovely spot to get your day started. Wonderful upstairs to enjoy your coffee and a delicious baked good. Great selection, friendly staff!

Ordered a breakfast burrito. Asked for it on a plate with a fork. Came down to get it and it was in foil in a bag. I asked for the plate and she said they don’t do ceramics. When I told her that I had asked for a plate when I ordered from her she just smiled and said sorry. I was looking at the ceramic plates behind her when she said this. Next time I’m bringing my own fine China, sterling flatware, and a dollop of caviar to top the burrito, since they’re always out of caviar. On the plus side they gave me a big glass for water. A note on the clientèle: there was a three or four year old girl who pretty much drove me mad stomping around downstairs as I waited to order. As I was unwrapping my burrito from its foil upstairs, guess who arrived and stomped even louder. I frankly can’t handle such riff raff this early in the morning, and perhaps THE MANAGEMENT should expand their policy of not allowing dogs to also refuse entry to non adults under three and half feet tall. Mother always said children are to be seen and not heard, and on that one point I couldn’t agree with her more.

Parking is a challenge unless you get there early but so worth it! The coffee is amazing and the place is just super cute and a great place to meet with friends or colleagues. We will definitely be back.

Great coffee. Great staff. Great workplace. I'm in town visiting family and spent the entire day here reading, planning, and working. They kept me caffeinated and gave me a perfect spot to set up my laptop and tune out the world.

As a person who loves coffee, Coffee Emporium is not the best place for coffee in Cincinnati. The beans are very mediocre and highly flavored. This trickles into how the coffee tastes at the shop. Coffee Emporium is also super busy so it takes a long time to get coffee, etc. positive is definitely the assortment of pastries, etc.

Best dessert coffee drinks we’ve ever had. Had the iced mochas 3 of the 5 days we were here. They are that damn good. I’m sure their hot coffee is great too, but only had the dessert. So phenomenal! Most are standard iced mochas, but this… this stuff is something exquisite.

My favorite coffee shop in Cincinnati! Their coffee is always consistently good no matter what you get. They also have great service, yummy bites and a cool atmosphere! 👍☕ This is also my favorite location. It's inside of an old house with a large seating area upstairs and there's a really neat patio out back with a rad viney pergola.

My daughter and I were visiting Cincinnati from Atlanta and she had seen this coffee shop on IG. We went out of our way to visit and we were NOT disappointed! My mocha had spicy Mexican chocolate and it was by far the best mocha I have EVER enjoyed! We are planning a trip back this week and will definitely stop by this amazing coffee shop again!

Good coffee but don't expect to get flat white. They do have good latte which makes up for all else. Great wisteria covered deck. Unfortunately you only get 45 min of wifi, so if you need to get work done, you got a bit over half an hour. It's also a nightmare to find parking place.

Nice place to get a coffee. Great for outdoor seating, and nice area to grab a coffee and go on a walk. You'll have to parallel park, but it's not too bad.

Right across from the Mushroom house! Great coffee. Parking is non-existent, expect to walk a block or two... but it's through an EXTREMELY beautiful neighborhood (drive through it if you're a fan of architecture and/or old homes)
