Latin Groove has been my home during the last year and a half. I started on intro with Franklin, who is one of the most passionate and hard working teachers I have ever seen. He is at Latin Groove 24/7, taking care of evaluations, management and giving the most entertaining classes. With Franklin you will master your fundamental skills in order to be ready to learn new steps and combinations. After that, i did all the courses until performed in both troupes. It’s been one of the most beautiful experiences I’ve ever had in my life. I need to personally thanks Franklin, Sandra, Chiharu and Nataly, for being wonderful teachers and most importantly, people. If you’re looking for a place to make friends, have fun and on top of that, learn how to dance. Latin groove is definitely the place to be ❤️

I've been going to Latin Groove for almost a year, starting as a complete beginner and progressing through all levels of classes, eventually joining their Salsa Amateur Troupe. The experience has been amazing, not only for learning the fundamentals of dance but LG is truly a community where everyone can feel welcome and meet great people. The atmosphere and team that Jesus Lugo built in his amateur troupes has been fantastic. The practices are the highlight of my week and we've all become great friends :) From a technical point of view, the choreo and shows have pushed me to progress very quickly, and I'm very grateful for all the opportunities we've been given to shine at LG and beyond! Leave your ego at the door, work hard, practice, be friendly and you'll have a great time at LG, both in classes and the teams❤️

Latin Groove offers a great range of latin dance classes at every level. I took the beginner salsa class with Sandra and she is a great teacher. She makes sure to give everyone in the class attention and she doesn't rush students when they are learning new moves. She is a fun and energetic teacher, and Latin Groove offers a great service. I would highly recommend taking a class here.

They teach many rhythms from a beginner level (You can really arrive without knowing anything). Salsa, Bachata, Merengue Kizomba and others. I really enjoy the classes with Nataly (Especially Merengue and Colombian Salsa Steps) and Carlos. Annual membership is around $1000 + taxes. The best thing, they have classes every day of the week!

In general it´s a good school, I started there since almost one year and a half and I have learned a lot! there is a bunch of different class from beginner to advanced, even if you arrived to high levels of bachata or salsa there will be always a different class to try, where you can refine your technique, the quality of the professors is good! If you wanna learn to dance different styles, Latin Groove is your option, also you are gonna met good friends there! I have seen my progress since I started to now and currently I am doing my first Amateur Bachata Troupe with Jesus, which is improving my skills. Totally recommended!

Latin Groove is more than just a dance studio. In the short 4 weeks I was there I took over 80 hours of group and private classes, with every instructor that was available. There is a special energy in that place and every time you go there, a little bit of that energy leaves with you. The instructors are phenomenal as dancers and incredible as people. The love of dance radiates from their eyes. Sandra, Franklin, Francesco, Carlos, Jesus, Nayelli. Thank you for everything. To the receptionists Giselle and Milena, thank you. If I could only go to one dance studio in my life, it would be this one.

I am taking salsa and bachata lessons for 6 months in Latin Groove and I am very happy with my experience so far. The classes are great, the teachers are really competent with a good pedagogy. Each one has its own technique and it’s great to have the opportunity to learn from different teachers in the same school. The is a big choice of classes and many options proposed on the schedule from Monday to Sunday. The staff is overall very friendly and open, always ready to help. Joining Latin Groove, I discovered also a great community of people!

I started taking classes at Latin Groove about 3 months ago, the teachers are amazing and the service is great! I do have to say, Franklin is an amazing teacher and manager! He is funny, stylish, passionate and caring. I definitely do recommend taking his classes as he is probably the best teacher there is. Latin Groove made me fall in love with dancing!

Best thing ever. I am able to lead my partner in just 2 weeks in Kizomba. Every instructor have their own style and you can join them as well. It makes it fun and unique rather than repeating same thing. I will definitely finish every level and frequent often.

Their website is confusing and fees aren't clear enough. I kept calling them for 2 days but no answer. Ended up going to the center. I tried asking the receptionist questions to help me identify what classes are good for me and fees, she was answering with an attitude. Like I get it if she was in a bad mood or maybe she had her period lol, but don't talk to new clients in this attitude. She didn't answer any of my questions and kept telling me to check their website. I told her if your website is clear enough, I wouldn't waste time coming all the way here to ask questions. Her attitude and not helping me just pushed me away from signing up. I’m definitely looking for other schools.

It has been an year for me at LG and the experience is so far good. I started with salsa & bachata and it challenged me a lot with both technical point of view as well as new sequences. I’m doing my second amateur salsa troupe (directed by Jesus Lugo) with them and the experience is amazing so far. Although there is still a lot to learn, I’ve improved a lot in terms of technicality, musicality and adaptability to each partner that you dance with. Jesus has great vision, planning & coaching to make the learning as smooth as possible. And of course, important to mention that, I met really amazing people here :) Thanks to LG & Jesus for all the great opportunities and memories !! Would recommend this school for sure !!!

Hola! As a Subscriber to Latin Groove for over a year now, these are my impressions so far: 👩‍🏫 Instructors: They're great and I rotate between them all! I even take Sandra's class! I focus on salsa and bachata and occasionally step into merengue, kizomba and chacha etc 📆 Flexible Schedule: 5 week rotation - mostly weekdays evenings and weekend afternoons 🏢 Real Estate: 4 rooms located at Places des arts with a sizeable lounge area 🚄 💃 Clientele: all walks of life who are open and approachable! 🎈 Events: There are usually 2-3 socials per week and occasionally outdoors too. 💲 Value for money: I started with the 1 month and 3 month promo for good measure and eventually subscribed for a year. I usually go three times a week and catch 2 classes per day. Thank you/Merci/Gracias!

I was super nervous to start dance classes because I have had two left feet all my life. Fortunately, after just a few classes at Latin Groove, I was hooked. Carlos was really able to bring me out of my shell and I always leave the studio smiling. I now consider myself a dancer and have also gained so much confidence as a result. In addition to group classes, I have taken private lessons with Franklin. He personalizes each session, is dedicated to making sure you are the best dancer you can be, and of course creates a fun and warm atmosphere. His attention to detail makes an enormous difference. Thank you to the whole LG team!

Amazing dance school, was recommended to me and couldn't be happier with the decision to join. There are so many classes and variety of dances to choose from! Everyone is super friendly and I always have the best time at the studio. Learnt so much already. Also, the owner Sandra is absolutely amazing and really cares and tries to accommodate everyone! 10/10 recommend.

Attending Alex's salsa and bachata classes has been an absolute game-changer for my dancing journey! Alex's choreographies strikes the perfect balance to push us to challenge ourselves, while keeping the atmosphere super fun. The level of complexity of combos help us improve our skills, and Alex manages to make them feel accessible for social dancing. His passion for dance is infectious, and his enthusiasm radiates throughout every class, creating an environment that makes you comfortable to learn, experiment, and grow, all while having an amazing time. Whether you're a beginner or an advances dancer, Alex's classes are a must for anyone looking to elevate their dance game. His teaching style, expertise, and passion make a great experience for anyone attending his classes! Overall, Latin Groove feels more like a community than simply a dance school; the quality of teachers and students attending classes contributes to elevate the whole experience. I could not recommend enough to sign up!

INCREDIBLE! My partner and I decided to have a Bachata private class for our anniversary and it was the best experience. Our instructor, Sandra, was incredible, so kind, and so encouraging. We've decided to add these classes into our routine now and can't wait to go back to improve our newfound skills!

Usually I would minimize the awards on the wall as a top 3 dance studio in Montreal as promotional and debatable subject to personnel but Latin Groove is definitely a physical space to hone ones dance. . Spotless, clean mirrors, padded seats for group events, modern room dividers,, smooth floor, excellent acoustics, my dance experience was a good one. The only drawback to the studio is its downtown location. Parking lots are expensive in the area and meters are often not available. Suggestion take the metro, walk off course, or try that new electric bike with water bottle, dance shoes and towel in hand. I can't speak to the quality of teaching as my teacher rented out the studio during the day. Student activity is apparently extensive after 5pm and if so you can bet that physical plant and teaching offer a satisfactory experience bordering on "ay carumba"

Latin groove is one of best classes in Montreal. The classes are divided into different levels due to which a beginner or an advanced dancer can have fun and learn to their full potential. Right from the owner- Sandra to all staff members are very kind and welcoming. They always do their best to help out the students with their inquiries and concerns. The instructors are amazing, patient, kind and care about your growth as a dancer. I would totally recommend this school to all dance lovers :)

Great school for getting initiated to social dancing. I've been taking classes for the past 4 months now and I've improved so much on my bachata and salsa dancing skills! Every teachers have their own style, so there is much to learn by going to as many classes as I can. They also have unlimited classes packages which we can use to try out as many dance styles as we want (they also have kizomba). Coming from no dance background, I can assure you will progress very quickly, because they want to push us to become great dancers!

I began taking salsa and bachata lessons at Latin Groove about three weeks ago. If you are hesitating, I say go for it! Franklin and Jesus are great teachers. If you make a mistake, they don't make you feel embarrassed at all. They give constructive advice and I have learned a lot in only a few sessions. My friend and I look forward to each class.

Couldn’t have ask for more! I have joined the salsa intro classes. Done with 3 classes and feels like I have learned quite a lot. A special shout out to wonderful instructor Mr Francisco Calleja, he makes learning easy and fun at the same time. Gives lot of information about the dance type and teaches individually till the doubts are cleared. He is always patient while teaching and super enthusiastic in the class.

I’ve been attending classes here for about 6 months and I absolutely love it! The instructors are incredible dancers, patient and very knowledgeable about their craft. I’ve learned more going here in 6 months than I have after years at other studios. Prices are also very reasonable and you’ll learn how to dance quick! Highly recommend signing up! :) thanks for everything!

I started my intro Bachata classes here a few weeks ago with one instructor but ended up switching days due to my schedule and ended up with a different instructor for the remainder of the sessions. Nathalie is a great instructor, she takes her time to really teach you the steps and gives students the opportunity to ask questions. I ended up staying with Nathalie because I preferred her teaching method and was very sad to learn she will be away for the next session level 1 classes. I might even wait til she gets back to resume because I liked her so much!

Franklin is the best zumba teacher ever! He takes it to a whole other level, bringing the skills and style of the professional dancer he is, and satisfying even the most demanding students. I've know him for many years and have followed him everywhere, especially to this great school where he is so committed to both teaching and the business in general. I can't wait to try more class types with him here soon.

I joined Latin Groove about a month and a half ago by taking Bachata. Joining LG has really exceeded my expectations! After that, I proceeded to take salsa as well and go to class almost everyday. They have so many interesting dance classes. Now I’m also taking kizomba, partner work, Cuban salsa, and looking forward to taking more as I advance. They also organize lots of great events to practice dancing. It’s so fun and a great way to meet new people. The instructors are all very talented dancers and great teachers who care about the students progress! So much good energy there. Franklin is a great teacher and cares about his students progress and is patient to answers any questions we have! He is able to give us good technical pointers on our dance moves. Appreciate also Francisco’s energy and him telling us about the history and culture of the dances. Truly appreciate each and all the staff there! If you are thinking about it, definitely take a class and you’ll see where it takes you! :)

I’ve been going to Latin Groove for more than a year and I absolutely love it! The dance instructors and the staff are all amazing. I would especially like to thank Alex for his dynamic and fun classes. His teaching method is a perfect mix of technique, footwork and styling. Personally, I see a lot of improvement since I started attending his classes. He creates a super fun atmosphere and challenges us with dynamic moves every time. There hasn’t been a single class, where I haven’t learnt something new. He is really creative and passionate about dance, it is contagious. You can tell that he genuinely cares about his students growth and experience. I always have an amazing time when I come to Alex’s classes.

Thank you Chiaru, Francisco, Carlos, Natalie and Alex for everything; and thank you Franklin for doing an EXCELLENT job on all levels; we love you all ❤.

I have so far tried taking Salsa intro classes, and the instructor has been great in patiently teaching us the salsa steps. He is very friendly and makes everyone comfortable in the class. His classes are really fun especially that we get to dance to music almost all the time during the class and not only repeat the steps. We also review all previous learned steps in each class and learn new ones. My experience so far has been really enjoyable.

What a wonderful place to learn dancing… I had 2 left feet and in 15 weeks I’m at the last step before advanced Bachata. Teachers are great, speak 3 languages and always make sure you’ve got the steps. And if you see Franklin, don’t be shy… he’s such a bundle of joy that gives the best feedback ever during evaluations so that you can improve yourself. Keep on shining Latin Groove, such a pleasure to see your beautiful smiles week after week!

I started a month ago, the classes and instructors are super fun!! Each instructor brings something different to the class so I recommend taking the same class with different instructors. Franklin puts emphasis on technique and explains clearly what to do. He also teaches us to have fun and FEEL the music as you dance. Chiharu has amazing energy and breaks down the steps for us to understand. Francisco has a great sense of humour, you'll always have a laugh in his class. I highly recommend Latin groove 💃🏻❤️

I had subscribed to a monthly package in a week but I couldn't attend for a month due to personal reasons. They refused to move my entire classes since I was a day past the first class date. I paid $100+ for zero classes. It's too money minded.

Not the best experience overall. Franklin is a good teacher but other than that, after noticing their customer service, I was definitely deceived by the way they acted and handled a situation. Would personally not refer that place to anyone.

  • 3/5 John S. 1 year ago on Google
Very good teachers: Francisco, Carlos, Nayelli. However, students are not explained conception of dance and that's why they think the higher level you are taking, the greater dancer you are. So, there is ridiculous situation: students who are not able to count & do basics properly go to Salsa 3 & 4, and classes are overloaded by people; so, it is even impossible to dance. And 90% of these people from Salsa 3/4 are supposed to be in Intro or Salsa 1 classes. On the other hand, Salsa 1 classes relatively empty, because all these students, who are supposed to belong to these classes, are on Salsa 3/4. Teachers & management are supposed to explain students that salsa dancing it is not turning girl to the point that she starts to vomit, but to be able to dance even basics with grace & beauty. For this Body Isolation/Styling/Turning Techniques classes have to be promoted. However, who cares...as long as they pay...I guess...

I'd been taking dance classes at LG for almost a year. What I like about it is the people I met and good teachers. Unfortunately, I had to cancel my subscription due to some unprofessional manners of the owner which repeatedly happened during that time. What she enjoys doing, is coming to observe the classroom in person, even though there are cameras all over the place to do the job, and threaten students that if they don't know the steps, she takes them out of class and sends them to a lower level. The final bullet was that one day, she stopped many students from getting into the class, and we were mostly people who had done that certain level multiple times. Her excuse was that we didn't have the evaluation certificate. Most of us had no clue what she was talking about, since we did an evaluation months ago with Franklin, the co manager. She was also discriminative about it, so some students got in even without the paper, and her explanation was that they are coming here for years and I know them. Long story short, even though I think she has the right to reevaluate students, she did it in a very insulting, humiliating and disrespectful way and she put a lot of stress on us for no reason. And as I mentioned before, I could see that she's enjoying it. So I chose to stop being with LG.

I took a salsa dance class for the heck of it there. I already had been dancing for a while. The classes are fun. The dance Instructor even complimented me and how I teach the follower during the lesson. For my first time visiting Montreal I have to say this was my best experience in a Salsa dance class. I encourage it this Dance School will change you in a good way.

I've tried their social for the third time recently, and just like last 2 times, it was a disappointment. Even if they PAID me $50/hr to be there, I wouldn't spend another minute in there. This could be just a personal opinion/ preference, but here we go: I've traveled and danced in multiple different countries. Attended thousands of socials in the past 6 years of my dancing journey, but this one is even worse than some random Tuesday night social at a dirty pub with reggatone playing every second song and bunch of drunk people...sorry To Start, they had an announcement on some website about their Friday weekly social with a wrong address on it (1184 St Catherine instead of 372). A bit of a waste of time, but it happens. Music was just old and bad + overloaded bass that just killed the main rhythm of music. A random Spotify bachata Playlist would probably sound 100% better. Most dancers are from Latin Groove, at least those that I asked. And no offense to anyone, but I'm not sure what exactly is being taught at those classes as 95% of people didn't have a basic frame taught to them, let alone some basic hip movements or even weight transfers. Total waste of time in my eyes and I hope there will be other socials in Montreal on a Friday night. Cheers

The place and the teachers are not welcoming at all. There is a lack of connection with the teacher, it feels very manufactured unfortunatly. Also the classes do not have the right levels, they let in any level in the advanced classes. It's a pitty, because when you reach a certain level of dance, you want to improve and evolve.

  • 5/5 Darryl P. 10 months ago on Google
Now that I have been dancing at this school for a solid year, and experienced all the current levels of classes offered, I feel I can share my opinion/experience properly. The people both staff and students have been nothing but friendly, making it a fantastic place to learn if you have never tried dance before. As well as taking group classes, I have had the privilege of being able to afford to take private lessons, which helps immensely if you are looking to push your dancing to a higher level technically. I currently take private lessons with Franklin who is an amazing passionate instructor, who truly shows he cares about improving your dance if you show you want to learn. I will continue to do so as I feel it is so beneficial for me. I also took some private lessons with Jesus who is fantastic as well. There are different levels of classes that you can reach, and an evaluation done between levels to make sure you are okay to move forward, which is nice as it makes for a nice experience for those who should be at those levels. It's nice to have different instructors who have different styles teaching. I would like to see some more classes dedicated to a higher technical level for those looking for more competition/performance technique at all levels, as I know that is hard to do in mainstream group classes as many are there to just learn to dance socially. I very much look forward to spending more time at LG, and encourage anyone who wishes to learn latin dance to try it out. Fantastic school, fantastic instructors and friendly welcoming students which creates a dance family oriented experience for everyone involved.

Latin Groove Dance School, particularly with instructor Franklin, has exceeded my expectations. Franklin's passion and devotion to dance are evident in his teaching style. He not only focuses on the technical aspects of dance but also encourages self-expression. I highly recommend Latin groove! Their instructors are talented and passionate, creating a welcoming and supportive environment for dancers of all levels. With diverse dance styles, state-of-the-art facilities, and performance opportunities, this school is a must for anyone interested in dance. Lucky you if your instructor is Franklin, he gaves the best and must have basics and Technics to start dancing bachata and salsa

I started dancing at Latingroove in February 2023 and it has been an amazing experience for me so far. The school has a great interactive atmosphere with very experienced and passionate instructors in diverse dance styles. There are different instructors for various dancing styles spread through different levels, each of them transferring a great deal of knowledge and experience to the dancers throughout a very well-established curriculum. I started my intro classes with Franklin, one of the highly experienced, passionate, and professional instructors at the school. His passion, commitment, and care for little details in dancing which are of high importance are exceptional. Even after taking intro classes, he always gives dancers very helpful comments through the evaluation sessions that strongly help them to integrate their dancing skills in a solid way. Also, Franklin helped me a lot to boost my confidence in dancing through his supportive mindset and commitment to the learning process specifically since I had never danced before. You can also see similar motivative characteristics in other instructors which I believe it is one of the key factors that makes this school highly distinguished. Overall, I found Latingroove super helpful in creating an undeniable passion in dancers, specifically with a very organized and highly efficient curriculum throughout the learning process that helps dancers to progress fast and more importantly fundamental. I look forward to taking more classes at Latingroove and highly recommend this dancing school to whoever wants to learn Latin dancing in a very organized and well-established way.

In particular, I must say that Franklin is an excellent teacher and manager who is always ready to give good advice to improve our dance steps and has a lot of common sense to organize and manage the beautiful events that take place on site! I've been attending Latin Groove for my Salsa lessons and it's been an absolutely incredible experience. Franklin, my instructor, stands out with his unique teaching style. He not only breaks down the steps in an easy-to-understand manner, but also evaluates with a keen eye to help improve my skills. What's even more commendable is how he maintains a perfect balance of professionalism and friendliness. It's evident that he's passionate about dance and genuinely cares about his students. Highly recommend Latin Groove to anyone looking to dive into the world of dance!

Wonderful dance school and even more lovely community! I've done one whole session taking classes with Francisco. He is always organized and makes sure that we are learning to be our own unique dancers. His teaching is clear and classes are always fun. The staff as well as the owner Sandra is so kind and generous and makes sure that everyone feels welcome. If you want to learn how to dance and to meet lots of lovely people, come to Latin Groove!
