Restaurant Italian restaurant

🫤 Pretty basic food at a premiere price. I’ve only done carryout so maybe somehow that yields less food at a marked-up price. Staff seem friendly but seems popular more for convenience and less for quality. Make the 10 minute drive to Downers for better eating. People often mention good, restaurant, time, service, great, ordered, Italian, manager, server, delicious,

Really cool little place. Very bright, modern and fun. I went with the Italian old fashioned and Gnocchi alla Vodka. Drink was killer, little twist on a classic. The gnocchi, cooked perfectly. Will be returning very soon!

I recently dined at Il Mio in Clarendon Hills, and I must say that my experience was less than satisfactory. While the restaurant had a nice ambiance and the staff was friendly, the food quality was not up to par. I found the dishes to be lacking in flavor, and the service was slower than expected. I believe that with some improvements in their seasoning and efficiency, IL Mio could enhance the dining experience for their customers. It's worth noting that my experience may differ from others, so I encourage you to form your own opinion.

We held a private event at IL Mio and it was phenomenal. The service was exceptional. Our server, Danielle, and the bartender were friendly and incredibly helpful. Our guests raved about the food. Our event was on a Sunday before the restaurant opened and we had the space to ourselves. The atmosphere was bright and vibrant. Everything exceeded expectations. We are very happy we chose to have our event there!

Hate to do this, but I feel like I have to. My friend and I went in at 4 PM today. The place was barely busy and I asked to be seated by the windows. The person in charge tried seating us at the corner telling the host to take us to table 44 (not a window spot). I then asked again to sit by a table by the windows and they reluctantly told me they’d check. After making it kind of awkward and with a weird vibe, we were told we were able to. Then, our waiter, a tall guy with gray hair kept on giving my friend and I an attitude. I don’t know what kind of place thinks it’s a good idea to treat customers like this and expect them to return. Not friendly staff at all. The only friendly person there was a nice lady who greeted us with a smile. Everybody else seemed to be having a bad day or something. I am honestly forced to think the reason for this is because my friend looks/is Mexican. I have no other explanation for this kind of behavior. I am very disappointed, because I wanted to spend my Saturday relaxing and having a good time after a long week. But we came in to an unwelcoming place that supposedly specializes in the hospitality industry to be treated like second-class citizens. We honestly should’ve just left because nobody should tolerate rude behavior for no apparent reason; much less pay for that kind of treatment. This is also the reason we spent less money (we were originally going to spend a lot more). Could my assumption be incorrect? Maybe. But then I want an explanation about why these two incidents are ever acceptable. There was plenty of space to seat us but it’s like we were asking for too much. It’s as if being treated with respect is asking for too much. Very very disappointed with this place I was excited about trying but turning into something like this. I can confidently say I will never go back or spend a cent at any business owned by these people. Racism is unacceptable today. These kinds of experiences are precisely the reason terms like micro-aggression and differential treatment exist. There was a table of four people, all Caucasian, that walked in after us and also requested the window seating. They got it right away, I don’t recall them having the same experience my friend and I had.

That is one of the best places that I’ve ever been in Chicago. First the atmosphere is amazing. And now let’s talk about the food… Everything was super fresh and tasty. I would recommend every single thing on the menu. Ayline was always on time when we need something, very helpful and polite. The place was full but it took them 5 minutes to bring all the appetizers and it was the same with the main dishes . Definitely coming back for more delicious food and good time.

Trendy Italian restaurant in adorable downtown Clarendon Hills with plenty of outdoor seating and always good, buzzing energy. We've dined here twice, first time at the bar, second time outside. Both times, service was inconsistent, and on both occasions, we were sitting with empty drinks for 10+ minutes. Outside was understandable since it was busy, however our first visit at the bar was a weekday evening and considerably less people there. Cocktails are well made, and they have a good, but not overwhelming variety of beer/wine options. The food is unfortunately inconsistent. We haven't found an appetizer we like yet. The grilled octopus wa large, unseasoned pieces that had been char-burned. The rolls are good, but obviously they are, they're soaked in garlic butter! The burrata and prosciutto was good, but uninspired and forgettable, which hurts my heart to talk about burrata like that. The gnocchi is good, as is the spicy shrimp pasta. The risotto didn't seem to be made with Arborio rice, and the texture was more chalky than chewy, but the flavors of the sauce were excellent. Overall, maybe we've just had bad luck. We like the atmosphere of downtown Clarendon Hills, so we'll give this place another chance or two.

Now-I typically don’t leave reviews, however, this time it’s needed! Made an 8pm dinner reservation, arrived at 7:42pm and was initially told that we would be seated right at 8pm. At 8:10pm, check in again with the secondary hostess, who suggested I ask the primary hostess-which happened to be the owner. I was told it would be another 20-25 minute wait as the reservations were backed up. Ok, deep breathe, and wait. 8:45pm, I check in again, and ask the owner, when we will be seated, and was told it would be another 5-10 minutes while being shrugged off. SIR!?! At this point it’s almost an hour past my scheduled reservation. While I wholeheartedly understand that things happen, in a situation such as this, customer service should be top notch. Anything outside of that-UNACCEPTABLE.PERIOD.

I was going to start this review by saying something nice to establish myself as a reasonable person... but nope I can't do it. The lowest points were when the waiter spilt about 1/8th of the glass of prosecco onto the table, "that was awkward", he said, as he wiped off the table and then did not offer to top up the glass. Then the pasta dish was undercooked and we could not eat it. (they did not charge us for the dish). The food arrived so quickly it would be impossible for it to be anything other than reheated in some form or another, this fact was evident in the taste of the food. A restaurant by definition is a place to go and eat food, I will handle the company I keep and I expect the restaurant to handle the food I eat. I can thankfully say that the decision I made with the company I kept was a good one. I just wish I could say the same about the restaurant.

Great neighborhood spot to dine. A place to be seen. Variety on the menus from appetizers to pasta and fish entrees. Nice wine selection. Two complaints…very loud and the bar should have real cranberry juice, not the junk from a gun. Makes the absolute worst cocktail.

Good indoor / outdoor experiences. Has a lot of solid Italian entress. However when we went we we went with a wide variety of appetizers and loved it. Service was excellent with decent beer and cocktail options.

I brought my family to this restaurant for the first time. I ordered what I thought was going to be a decent portion appetizer, : listed as a grilled octopus", I also ordered rigatoni with bolognese sauce, my husband ordered rigatoni bolognese, and my son ordered linguine all vongole. The food was ok. Mine was overloaded with sauce, and I specifically asked the waitress to make sure they did not put too much sauce on the rigatoni, but they did! I mentioned this to the waitress, and she basically ignored us. Here comes the appetizer, my husband order the grilled octopus...it was not ! It was barely one single tentacle drizzled with love oil and light vinaigrette, for 20 $ you would have expected more than just a single tentacle. We informed the waitress , and she stated she was going to mentioned this to the manager. Now comes my husband's dinner. Cacio and Pepe, there was hardly any pepper on the spaghetti, and looked like a child size portion, or more like Mac and cheese. Again we called the waitress, and instead of addressing the issue, she simply stated " well those are our portion, nothing I can do about it!" My husband had to get another order of the same just to make a full dish, The second plate had more pepper on it, than the first one, my son's dinner was probably the better of the entrees...Anyhow, here comes the bill, my husband ask the waitress if she had talked to the manger about the miserable portions served, and the fact the it was advertised as a grilled octopus, the last time I checked an octopus has more than just one tentacle, or leg, unless was crippled!Again we are given the attitude that she spoke with the manager and there is nothing they can do. In reality she never really spoke with the manager, as we found out later from the actual owner of this place. WE go the bill and cost for 3 people, over 130, not including the tip. I asked the waitress again to have the manager come over, She finally came, and I expressed my concern about the really small portion of the dishes, and the miserable tentacle in a dish, where there was more oil and arugula than octopus. With a typical attitude of a snob manager, she came over sayin : I am one of the owner here, I do not know what to say, but those are our portion", my husband told her that a bad comment or review in the food magazine may actual ruin the business. She reiterated that this is the first time someone complained about the food, and the portions. So what? I expected her to at least apologize for not being happy with either the service and the food, but no,,,she had to give us this BS about the portions being that wa...perhaps for a child, but not an adult....She abruptly took my husband's credit card, literally out of his hands, proceeded to the back to charge the card, after 20 mnts, another waiter comes over to give us the receipt, and he even stated " the manager should have handled this differently, but she did not" I would have given him a tip, if he would have served us, but I did not leave any tip. The waitress never asked the manager when we first requested to, and she never addressed the issue of the overloaded sauce, and miniature portions. I would not recommend this place to anyone, and I have dined in many restaurants before. This is not an authentic Italian restaurant, and the owner has absolutely no customer's skills what soever.A simple apology, or a mere drink on the house for the inconveniencewould have been sufficient, and with something like : sorry you had a bad experience, but if you come back next time, remember these are our portions, so you will not be disappointed again" a good manager caters to the needs of the clients, and goes beyond being cheap! I will give one star at best.

Just visited for the first time a few weeks ago and the food was amazing! They have a wide variety of dishes to choose from- it was so hard to decide what I wanted because everything being served to surrounding tables looked so delicious! Definitely would return again!

Finally a great new restaurant in downtown Clarendon Hills! Lovely interior decor and vibe. The place was hopping on a Friday night! We had a drink at the bar while waiting for our table and both were delicious (Il Mio Mule and Peach Beach Frose). Then we sat outside where we enjoyed the Caesar salad (only minor complaint is that the lettuce could have been more crisp), the Branzino and the eggplant parmesan, which were both perfectly cooked and came out nice and hot. We also ordered a side of truffle fries (not too heavy on the truffle oil) and then the lemon cake, which was like eating a tasty cloud, for dessert. We had local celebrity Krista as our server, who was fabulous of course. All in all a great night at a place we can walk to. So excited to come back!!!!

Really good food! Have been there twice now and enjoyed everything ordered both times. I wouldn't say it's the best Italian but it was great. Only issue with the place would be that the general atmosphere feels cold/loud. Outdoor seating is a lot more pleasant.

We recently moved from city and have been to this restaurant twice. The food is good and it has a city feel not empty at 9:00. My complaint is that my husband who had back surgery and is recovering is getting hounded by these people Everytime he comes in. First visit the woman at the stand ask if he needed help walking to the restroom my husband politely told her no. He turned and noticed she followed him to the restroom and waited for him to come out. Our visit yesterday he walked in and she asked him several times if he wanted a chair again the answer no. I walked in and she started on me about him. I find this appalling. He needs to stand he needs to walk to recover you don't know what's going on leave people alone. I think maybe they should be concerned that they are not wheel chair compatible. There's no room in there. Also telling me that she's moving a bench in that most likely will block the door so he can use it wasn't good idea in a crowded restaurant. I was shocked to later find out that this was the owners wife. We go out alot and this sadly won't be at the top of our list

Place was nice, food was average. Service was less than average and alot of bees roaming around both inside and outside. Staff didn't make any effort and just acknowledged that yeh we got quite a lot flying around today. Disturbed what was supposed to be a quiet lunch as they kept coming at us mid meal. We rushed through our lunch and bounced.

Amazing flavors. For appetizers, the arancini was excellent. Perfect crunch with a soft inside of goodness. We also ordered the meatballs which were just as good. The gnocchi alla vodka was so delicious and combined with the appetizers and desert was very filling. The service was outstanding. Our server was very helpful and made us feel welcome. Will definitely be coming back.

Always a great meal with a fun vibe and excellent service! Very accommodating as well - called last night at 9pm for a 5 top and they were able to get us right in. Krista is the BEST server as well, we love her!

The food here is quite good. Really cannot go wrong with any possible choices. Strong recommendation for the unique and tangy Chicken Peperoncini. The service though kind is rather slow to get attention from your assigned server. There were long waits to get refills on beverages. Also be mindful of the bill as we had another table’s round of drinks thrown on our tab. The fellow clientele is rather bougie, if you are not wearing your latest A-game attire you will be out of place, but then again it is Clarendon Hills. Even saw a guy wearing a popped collar on a button down shirt 👔 which was beyond weird.

Pasta. Wine. A family-friendly atmosphere with a Vespa hanging from the ceiling. The meals are always delicious, but the welcome you receive walking in the door from every member of staff is what truly makes this spot a gem. If you're in the southwest suburbs, make a stop in! If you're not, book some reservations and make the trip out!

Grilled calamari was excellent. Meatballs were great, but the polenta was very bland. Rigatoni with short rib ragu lacked depth and flavor. Could have used more salt/pepper, tomato sauce and wine during the preparation. Should have been dressed with parmesan at final presentation.

Very cousy and inviting place to be visited, highly recommended their vodka sauce gnocchi , phenomenal service, not the biggest fan of their drinks prices, it does have a bar feel and I was missing motivation to have 2nd drink. Everything else was perfectly fine and wonderful. Will definitely visit again.

Great vibe and great food. We loved high energy and louder environment on Saturday night at 9pm Yes families and bar scene. I say true Italian style. Food was just not run of the mill but passionately prepared. We ordered grilled calamari. It was really good! And the pepperoni flat bread . Wow it was spicy hot ! Good too

Love. Love. Love. Awesome food, truly authentic Italian food. As an Italian, I have extremely high standards, but this restaurant has just set the bar at a whole new level. Great job IL mio.
