This was my first time going there and it was very exciting. The area is well taken care of and can accommodate large number of visitors very efficiently. There is free parking up the hill on the Arizona side but a bit longer walk. Otherwise you will have to pay $10 to park. We did not do any of the tours just walked around and enjoyed all the free views. Visiting the bridge first I think is better. After the dam we were tired. Bring lots of water with you. Two adults and two children under twelve, decimated 6 bottles of water and we ended up getting dehydrated after 45 minutes. The views are spectacular and the walk a very mice one. My favorite site out west by far so far. It is worth the time. Visit the lake view last.

So beautiful! Very cool experience to see. The views are amazing of the Dam and Lake Mead. Part of the dam was closed so we went on the shorter tour but it was still very fun. The tour guide and staff were nice. We watched a 10 min documentary and then got on elevator that went down so many stories. It was hot but definitely worth it. Drink plenty of water!! Mask are still required right now. I suggest when done at the Dam to got to southwest diner (16 min away) very good. Overall great place!!!!!

It was very pretty and the views are great. We didn't do any tours or anything but I'm sure that would be fun. However just know if you go in the summer it is insanely hot.

What a beautiful location. Wish I had more time but the views are breathtaking! Well cover more ground next time. Paid parking is on the left before the bridge. $10. Free parking is across the dam. I paid for parking since we skipped the visitor center. 1-07-2022 Tours are currently closed except for visitor center.

Ave True to Caesar. Here is where we turned the tide against the profligates of the New California Republic, and burned General Lee Oliver upon the cross, Las Vegas belongs to the Legion, and all shall know Caesars benevolence, amazing place to visit if you wish to treat it as a memorial to those degenerate soldiers who died here. Obey Caesar or die a profligate. ❤

Great detour while in Vegas. The visuals in the area are fabulous. Several areas to view from a handful perspectives. The dam itself is impressive. Even more so when you really dig into the engineering. Super cool experience.

A must see! The tour is great! We loved it and the guide was very knowledgeable. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. Even in the dead of summer, it was hot but manageable. We all like the heat though so it doesn't bother us. Not for the claustrophobic.

Hoover dam is one of marvellous modern structures you would see in the world and it was constructed in 1935. You will be astonished after learning more about the dam and its construction, which was a magnificent experience. Definitely recommend taking power plan tour ticket . A guide will accompany you as you explore and provide fascinating details about the dam. It was a great pleasure to tour the power plant and learn about the significance of this magnificent building. The cost of the power plant tour ticket is $15 per person. Near the dam, there is a souvenir shop, cafe, parking garage, and restrooms. Around the dam, there are a number of additional scenic vantage points.

1st time there today and it's beautiful. Drive slowly going up. There one spot with an amazing photo opportunity (have passengers take picture) then there's a few viewing stop you can make before you actually get to the dam.

A beautiful experience. Enjoyed the views as well as just being able to see this dam. Several visitors were here enjoying their day. There are several different areas to park and look at different observation points. I recommend at least 3 good hours to truly enjoy this point of interest.

Such an amazing feat of engineering. Even though there weren’t any tours due to COVID we could see enough to make the stop worthwhile. Make sure to go over the dam and up the hill for more amazing views.

Great time here; however, the only sad part is how poor we manage the earth’s resources. Check out how low the water level is from our own consumption & disregard for this beautiful world.

This dam is so amazing! You got to see this with your own eyes! This dam is way bigger than pictures make it out to be. It is over 700 feet tall! You can also drive over the same because it is so thick! They have many memorials here to remedy all the men who died in the construction of this dam. They have self guided tour you can take here, but unfortunately the full tours are closed as of right now. They have a gift shop and a visitor's center as well. If you are hungry, they also have a little restaurant you can eat at as well. Not only is the dam very amazing, but the canyons surrounding the dam are very picturesque and beautiful! If you are in the area or anywhere near Las Vegas, this is a must see!

This was really a neat experience! Pretty easy to get around and lots of ramps for people that struggle with stairs. I wasn’t lucky enough to go on the tour because I ran out of time but plenty to see here with great history.

Amazing engineering. Nice view from top of the dam and over the bridge (Nevada to Arizona). Roads were amazing. Feel like we’re just floating. Well maintained. Took four years to finish the construction of the dam. Would recommend this place.

I always wanted to visit the Hoover Dam. Loved the visit. It was a super hot day which is expected. We parked in the parking lot on the other side of the dam and walked across the dam. It was a great experience. Please enjoy the pictures. Definitely recommend folks to visit this dam.

Decided to come here early and I’m so glad I did. I definitely missed the crowd. I was going to upgrade to the Dam tour but changed my mind since I still had to head over to the Grand Canyon. The power plant tour was nice but short. They had us watch a mini movie about the making of the Dam which was informative and interesting. Then we were taking down to see the workings of the plant. And that was pretty much it. After that you can explore the grounds and take pictures (you can do this for free without paying for anything). You only pay if you park in the garage and lot 9. All other parking is free but you’d be pretty far from the main area. Those spots are best for picture taking only. I’d definitely recommend. It was well worth the trip.

Hoover Dam is one of America's great engineering marvels. This massive structure, completed in 1935, crosses the Colorado River, linking Arizona and Nevada. It is 726 feet high and 1,244 feet long. Lake Mead, held back by the Hoover Dam, is the largest artificial lake in the United States. It is 110 miles long, and holds the equivalent of two years of flow of the Colorado River. You can drive or walk across the dam for free, although there is a charge for parking. Another option is to take a tour of Hoover Dam or the Powerplant. The visitor center provides information on the dam and tours, and has a café with some basic food options.

The Hoover Dam of course is historical and a beautiful place that I’ve been to several times. This visit during the pandemic was a bit different just because people were wearing masks. Unfortunately though some people were being irresponsible and not wearing masks and a lot of people didn’t respect the six feet distance. I believe that a lot of people are not following the rules and it’s very unfortunate.

Whilst I fully respect the history of this fantastic landmark, personally I'd skip this for the trip as its extremely congested and difficult to park. However, the history behind it, is absolutely excellent.

Hoover dam is a great day trip if you are staying in Vegas. About a 40 minute drive away. Pictures don't truly capture the magnitude and scale of the dam. Take time to read the posted information around the dam. It gives some interesting insight into the history and construction of the dam.

I did this tour about 10 years ago and did it again recently with my son. Good both times. Definitely go for the longer option which takes you all the way inside the dam. Our guide this time was great - lots of knowledge and a fun personality. Incredible structure and engineering.

Missed out on the tour within the dam because of what time we came, but still a very cool sight to see for free! It’s just something that leaves you awestruck! I loved being able to walk right across the bridge above it.

Beautiful scenery and the best part is that it is free! To get free parking, make sure you park passing the Arizona side and then you can take a 10 minute walk down towards the main attractions of the Hoover Dam. Also, if you are coming on a weekend make sure you get there early as parking can get full.

The grand innovation and magnitude of this project is 100 stars. Professionals where ever you are, y'all did amazing! 👏 The functionality of getting a peak of the Most bluish & pretty water for a river, I've ever seen; during 103 degrees is next to a star. Some of the closest access were closed. Get comfortable shoes, watter, hat and avoid the hottest months. They do have cooling stations, food and a parking fee.

Took the power plant tour and it was very interesting. Just to be inside the plant and see the generators was worthwhile. In summer, be prepared for extreme heat if you're going to spend any time walking across the dam. There is very little shade and it was eye-roasting hot.

Nice historic site to visit when you're in the area. It can get quite crowded and busy, so its probably best to visit during the less busy time of day, season, etc. If you do stop by in the summer, the tour inside the dam is a good way to get out of the heat since it's much cooler in there.

This is truly a spectacular feat of engineering. It makes you truly appreciate all the work and hard labor that was endured to make this place possible. The tour was a must, very informative and also special to be able to go down into the dam, walk the tunnels and see the generators and hear the water rushing through the massive pipes. It is also nice and cool down there which is a nice break from the 100+ degree weather.

It was an amazing experience from start to finished. We made the right decision by joining the tour, it was really awesome, super amazing facts about the engineering of this Dam, the highest standard of workmanship done during those times, which is still considered to be at par with the modern engineering standards. This is located at the border between Arizona and Nevada. Our tour guide is funny and well versed, 15 years in the job..

(Translated by Google) Monumental and overwhelming! I had already seen the dam from the helicopter twice before, which was also great, but you can only grasp the real size if you stand on the dam and look into the depth. The visitor center could be modernized a bit. Therefore only 4 out of 5 stars.

I had a brief stop there on my way to the Grand Canyon National Park. It was not too busy, so I was pretty much alone with the dam. It is in a very beautiful desert location and I really enjoyed the environment. The dam is huge, but obviously rather functional. It makes you think about its history and future. The mighty Colorado River tamed by man! Clean, green energy for all! However, people with depressions shouldn't go there for their own good. Wear the mask😷. Protect Nevada.

Awesome place to visit if you are bored of Vegas. It’s about a 45 minute drive and stunning views. You can park at the bridge overpass and walk the bridge for some exercise to see the dam from a distance. Or you can go further down and pay for parking and actually walk the dam. See the statues and history and even take a tour (not operating due to Covid). You can see the dam close up and take pictures. There’s also a gift store for magnets and souvenirs.

My wife and I had shown up here about 20 years ago. The water appeared quite low this time and we experienced different areas for lookouts which we almost passed by and we are happy we stopped before we left going out. The next time we come here we're going to make sure we have more time to hike around a little, walk through the tunnel that you can see over to the left wing at the lookout where you see Lake Mead. We were staying at the New York New York in Las Vegas and went to the Grand canyon and then checked out The Valley of Fire and Hoover Dam.

I wanted to go to the dam but was worried about all the people (because of Covid) and I assumed we could just drive over it and that would be it but we not only drove over the dam but on the Arizona side we were able to pull over and there was no one in the upper most parking lot. We got photos and a beautiful view. We didn't have to deal with tourists or possibly getting my folks, my 4 month old and myself sick. It was a beautiful day and not crowded at all, even though Google said it was "busier than usual" for that time of day. No matter how many times we visit, I love seeing the art deco architecture. I grew up coming to lake mead and I can't wait to bring my son (maybe when he's old enough to remember, next time). If you're already in Vegas, lake Las Vegas or Mead, it's worth the trip.

Very close to Phoenix/las Vegas. I love more on the Arizona side as it’s quieter and more scenic

Simply amazing. Tours and tourist center were closed so you're only allowed to walk the dam and visit the gift shop. Still a sight to see.

This is a must if in Vegas. Only about a 30-40min driver from the strip. Only wish the tours were open. Like a lot of review stated for free parking driver over the dam and past the first lot, all lots after that are free and it is not a fare walk.

I always was like "it's a dam, no big deal" ha! Boy was I wrong. The size and scale of this dam is astonishing. You feel so tiny on the top looking down. Really glad I decided to go.

Such an interesting place to visit! Lots to do and see, tours, walking the bridge, driving the bridge, history, Cafe, gift shop, trails, and more. The parking is easy and there's a lot of it. Great viewpoints of the dam, the lake, power plant, and more.

Wonderful view. You can see much water now but you can see the water marks. Causation Very hot don’t forget to have enough gear to get hydrated.

We just did the free stuff and were perfectly content with all we saw. Amazing how well build this is considering the age. We enjoyed it and would bring the kids back.

This was such a fun and memorable area to check out with the kiddos. Waking across the dam and looking overt both sides was amazing for they kids and we enjoyed it also. Make sure to try pouring some water over the side of the dam. The wind blowing up the side of the dam will lift the water droplets anywhere from 10 to about 30 feet into the air! Most other visitors don't mind the light shower on a hot day but do be respectful and make sure you're not spraying people that don't want to be or aren't expecting it. My kids had more fun with the water over the edge than anything else. So much great history here though. Unfortunately most of the tours are shut down due to covid. Free parking on the Arizona side with s very short walk to the dam. Cafe had good food and even better service!

Such a marvel feat of engineering especially during the time it was built. If you got the chance to go please do. Truly a wonder.

A must visit, I waited far too long to enjoy this. Tours are good and the whole thing is ran great. Don't go in summer months, the is the same as outside temp. Security check was no big deal and you can still drive across the dam.

Nice pit stop on the way to the Grand Canyon, not really out of the way. Free to park past the parking garage if you are willing to walk a bit. Great piece of history to explore!

Beautiful views. Lots of parking in the lot, $10 per car, easy walk across the bridge. There are restrooms available and the view from the restrooms is great too! Even during Covid times, there is a lot of information but no tours currently.

Great experience! I recommend the full tour and also expect to spend a majority of the day here. Much to see and enjoy. Drink lots of water. Dam tour is accessible for regular wheelchairs. No ECVs.

Great place to visit! well worth it ! there is a Visitor Center with several tours to choose from. 2 of them you don't really need a reservations, but if you want to go deep into the dam, you need to buy ahead of you arrival. The visitor center looks nice. at the time of my visit they were installing 2 new electrical scalletors to access the visitor center. The visit to see the generators and the observation deck was very nice! i was at the end of the day so the sun was illuminating the wall of the dam!

Engineering marvel. It's just huge. Notice the vehicles atop the dam to feel the magnitude of this dam. They say it's twice the size of a football field and has eaten up in its construction enough concrete to cover our planet earth!

VISITED NOVEMBER 12, 2023 Wow, what an experience! Now mind you, didn’t do the tour. Pricing is steep for me and I most likely would’ve gotten bored. So opted to check out this historical man-made landmark instead. My twin and I drove from Vegas early morning (about 8-ish). Only a 1/2 hour drive. Glad we did. For a Sunday it was quite the tourist attraction! Hot you don’t have a fear of heights bc you will be on the dam and on windy roads. There is not one bad photo spot on here. It’s majestic. The best part, you can tell anyone willing to listen that you visited two states at one time! This will take you about 1/2 a day if you desire to visit. So much to see and take in. There is plenty of parking. And a good and gift shop. Be sure to have plenty of moolah. Overall: An amazing, beautiful experience. This

I held my birthday by bringing a cake on this location and blowing the candle on top of the dam. Such a wonderful experience with my family who are accompanying me on a road trip to Utah for our vacation. This is my first time celebrating my birthday on the road and this experience is memorable.

Decades later this is still one of the most impressive sights in the US. There's plenty of parking and the area is set up well to accommodate lots of traffic. Highly recommended.

Hoover Dam is an engineering marvel that left me utterly impressed! The sheer magnitude of the structure and the stunning views of Lake Mead are unparalleled. The guided tour provided fascinating insights into its construction and significance. Standing on the observation deck, I marveled at the blend of human ingenuity and natural beauty. A concrete testament to human achievement, Hoover Dam is a must-see destination!
