We happened by this place on chance and had a wonderful time. They have horse rides for little ones and trail rides for teens and adults. Lots of museums, blacksmith working, real old time jail cells, and a small little 1800s town to walk through. We will go again.

Amazing HISTORIC Outdoor Museum and Big Bear Native American Museum! Makes you believe you are back in the 1800’s with Stagecoach, Blacksmith, School, Jail, Court House and more! ALL of the activities and events are incredible! Excellent for BIRD WATCHING since it is right on Lake Pat! Excellent shopping in Historic Downtown Cleburne!!

If you have a chance this is a historical place worth stopping in. History about the Chisholm Trail and some very interesting historical items from Native American Tribes. The staff was very informative and knowledgeable on the history of a town from a bi-gone era that no longer exists.

Yes, this is a must go. People are awesome. We did find out there is a venue for wedding, parties and meetings. Wish there was larger variety stuff for sale. The Teepees didn't have anything but two logs. Wished there were people to speak with in some of the building. Parking was great. Restrooms nice and clean. We will go back for other social events they have a few dates for chilli cooking contest. They have a few reenactments coming soon. See ya there. Was a good museum also. So ya put on walking shoes and bring your pup (on leash at all times and remember to clean up after them😉) they are dog friendly.

My family and I really enjoyed our visit here. There's kayaking, music, food, a petting zoo, and rehab of a school from the 1800s. Eric is the gentleman that you will work with to kayak he is the best! There was also a camel to pet! Definitely a mist visit!

I can not say enough great things about my time at Chisholm Trail Outdoor Museum. Thank you Carrie Reynolds director for the Museum. Anyone who would like to learn more about the Chisholm Trail and it's history should stop by and just enjoy the history of this area. Close to Cleburne and off of Hyw 67.

I love 19th century American history and have read quite a bit about the cattle drives as well as the frontier history in Texas. So, I've wanted to check out this Chisholm Trail Museum for a while. When we got there, we started with the "Big Bear Native American Museum" on the premises of the Chisholm Trail Museum. With no disrespect to the Chisholm Trail Museum, the Big Bear Museum "stole the show" for both my wife and I. I've seen many Native American artifacts and collections and I believe this museum, while being relatively small, is one of the best curated collections I've ever seen. You just have to experience this place to understand.

Amazing experience for the whole family. They host Easter Egg Hunts for the kids(big&small), the have vendors and food trucks during events. And when they're not hosting events, it's still a very nice museum to learn about history.

The staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable! There are a few buildings with AC and several are rustic original buildings. Small gift shop and lots of room for kiddos to run around. Very family focused and educational as well as interesting. Great place for a pit stop!

So much fun, visited on the weekend (Sunday) and enjoyed the Native American museum, the school house, the blacksmith shop, the jail, the gift shop, the law enforcement museum, and the Confederate museum. Educational, but so interesting - and the volunteers are amazing! They took the time to walk us through the outdoor museum and show us all of the offerings, but most important, they gave us a glimpse into the life and times of the people who were here before us. I will be returning on my own - I was with a group and didn't get the opportunity to truly relish in the history.

This is a great place to wander. The Big Bear museum holds a vast array of memorabilia that is surprising given the small size of the building. Chisholm tail staff are friendly and knowledgeable.

Really interesting. And outdoor walking tour that you do on your own. Lots of old building and things to see. I enjoyed myself. I would come back here with little kids and wander around. They have a picnic area where you can go with kids and spend the afternoon

One of the finest Museums in Texas! People in historical clothing help create the atmosphere of an old west town! Step back in time, and enjoy the many family friendly, historical buildings, and artifacts. Join for the Old Fashioned Fourth of July, and other special events like Market Days! So much to see and do!
