Very unique wood-construction street, probably the only one of its kind in the area. The city should do a better job maintaining its historic character though.

Cleveland's only wood paved street was installed by Emery Hessler in 1916 for his private use. If you've been to the Hessler Street fair, you've walked on some Cleveland history. It's worth the trip to see this unique piece of our city!

If you have never seen a wood block street it is more than worth the effort to stop by while in the University Circle area to see this marvel of road construction.

When I was a student at Case in the 1950s I lived in the Theta Chi Fraternity house which was located on Bellflower just around the corner from Hessler Court. Each year the pledges were asked to count the number of "stones" in the street. They (including me) were always chagrined and amazed to find out the answer was zero.

👍👍 Great photo op. Snap your pic with the Cleveland skyline in the background. Plenty busy so it might take a while to get that perfect shot. Plenty of picnic tables to just sit by the lake and enjoy the views. Don't forget to take the trails that can take you down to Edgewater Beach.
