    Horrible LA fitness location. Been to several locations in NY and NJ and this is by far the worst one. Without exaggeration, more than 60-65 percent of the cardio equipment are not working. Those that are working have issues such as stuck belts, buttons, etc. Equipment is old. To top things off, when I went to go complain to management or an attendant a the front desk about this, there was a random member attending the desk; he said he doesn’t work there but was covering the desk while his friends went out to get food, around 9:00 PM. This location needs a massive renewal of equipment and management UPDATE- January 11, 2023 The place has gotten worse. I find more machines broken. The. Rest of the machines are not maintained and dirty. How is this acceptable or hygienic? LA FITNESS CORPORATE, please do something about this bizarre excuse of a gym.

    These pics were taken on Tuesday, 3/22/2022. I've complained to management numerous times about the large number of cardio machines that are rusty, inoperable, and have fallen apart. Nothing's been done. Even some of the weight training machines are missing weight pins and other parts. Also this past Tuesday, none of the paper towel dispensers on the main floor were filled. Only one dispenser on the cardio floor was filled. I did find that the dispensers in the ladies bathrooms were filled but we're still in the COVID pandemic. Honestly, we're in a twindemic because flu season is still lingering. I've successfully avoided COVID and flu infections and I'd like to keep it that way. And although I shouldn't have to ask that the dispensers be filled, I did ask. LA Fitness - Clifton's management tells me through their inactions that the safety and health of gym members aren't prioritized. You can't afford to be lackadaisical when we're not out of the woods with COVID.

    How this LA fitness has 4 stars I don’t know. My guess is that the workers are forcing clients to write reviews upon signing-up, before they get a chance to experience this gym. By far the most dirtiest gym ever. I believed people form Newark, Paterson and Passaic come here. I seen a few people trying to start problems for no reason. The machines are very old and a lot of them don’t work. The useless workers don’t have any pride in their work as this is by far the worst la fitness… coaches keep walking around trying to force shy and overweight people to sign up for classes. Even though they themself are overweight. Please keep in mind that you can get free workout plan online for free that are much better that these overweight and useless coaches. There is a reason they don’t approach people that are fit cause it’s easy to realized that these coaches don not know anything.

    Update: Oct/Nov 2023. Despite 70 people in class, they removed the makeshift AC and there was no circulation of air (until we took the spin room's fan), which results in dangerously slippery floors due to humidity. I have added another photo. I am not sure why the REAL AC was never fixed. I am sure this will be a repeat experience next year. Update: end of summer 2023: please see what we rode the rest of the summer out with in the last photo. Prior to the cardboard accessory, it was a yoga mat! They never did fix the "real" AC this year. [deep sigh] Update (8/20/23) Since my review below on 6/23, the gym leased a large AC machine and humidifier for the aerobic studio in the hope that it would substitute the AC expected from a large corporation. Then suddenly, the lease was up and the machines were gone (about a week ago). Staff claimed the AC had been fixed! And so the same annual story repeats itself! The pictures below provide the ONLY circulation of air: hot air! It's an absolute joke. Side note: the floor is drenched with sweat after a packed class and is rarely washed, making surfaces disgusting AND dangerous! 6/23: For the past 10 summers (bar one), the AC in the studio has been "broken." It is dangerously hot in there, and the added humidity and sweat on the floors make it slippery. Management play the "it's being fixed" or "we are waiting on a part," year after year, to keep members placated. But these conditions will ultimately cause an accident of some kind. Complaints are ignored. Furthermore, because the studio doors must remain open to receive a tiny bit of AC from the main floor during any class, staff have removed the studio speaker closest to this door. The solutions to such backwards issues make this an inferior and classless gym. SAVE YOUR MONEY and go elsewhere.

    Don’t be fooled by the 4 star rating when you sign up they give you a discount for a good review. Workout takes twice as long cause I am balways searching for them. Half the equipment is broken or due for service as well. 8 am on a Saturday and the garbages are full and no toilet paper half the machines are broken

    Came here today for a trial and was super disappointed. More than half of the treadmills are out of service and the one I found that was working kept turning off every 5 minutes. Every other weight machine wasn't working and the ones that weren't marked for repair were either missing parts or had bad cables that felt sketch to use. The whole place felt grimy and unclean, especially the pool and locker room areas. It doesn't feel like anyone is maintaining this gym at all. I've been to the Wayne location and it is SO much nicer, I was really caught off guard by how gross the Rt 3 location feels. I was considering joining but I'm probably going to join another gym and just use my brother's guest pass in Wayne when I want to swim.

    I recently had the pleasure of visiting the LA Fitness gym in Clifton, NJ. It truly exceeded my expectations. The facility was well-equipped with state-of-the-art fitness machines and a variety of workout options to cater to different preferences. The cleanliness was impeccable, creating a welcoming and hygienic environment.

    I am currently having a very frustrating experience with this gym regarding the cancellation of my membership. I made it clear that I wanted to cancel back in August, followed all the procedures outlined in their policy, I went and spoke to the manager personally and yet my membership was not canceled as requested. The lack of communication and follow-through from the gym's manager was disheartening even after he acknowledged my membership was canceled and I would not be charged for August. It's disappointing when a business doesn't honor a customer's request to cancel, especially when it involves ongoing financial commitments. Not only was I charged for the August membership but now September as well. I attempted to speak with the manager today but I was told he was busy and unable to take my call. His refusal to speak to me about my concerns or assistance in this situation clearly outlines his lack of basic managerial skills. At the very least he could had spoken to me and sent out an escalation email regarding the error of my cancellation. His refusal only confirms that this wasn’t an error but more of a sneaky attempt to continue the membership charge. I hope they can improve their customer service and communication in the future, as this experience has left a bitter taste in my mouth. I would advise others to be cautious when dealing with membership cancellations at this gym.

    This is a large gym with a lot of potential. The problem is it would be an excellent gym if the upkeep was better. I had to try 4 different elliptical type machines before finding one that was fully functional. Today two out of the three rowing machines downstairs didn’t have straps on the footpads, thus, they can’t be operated. A lot of machines need to be fixed. Separately, some of the members are pretty inconsiderate- primarily for re-racking weights, and sometimes for leaving garbage laying around. I hope the staff could make sure the machines are safe and operable and be more on top of gym etiquette.

    My husband and I have been member of this GYM since the first day they open. During pandemic we froze our membership. Today we went back to talk about our membership options. Operation Manager “Ryan” and front desk person “Emily” was there. I have never been mistreated like this before. He was totally ignoring us and he didn't even want to listen our problem. Meantime i asked if there is any other person or manager to talk. It seems like nobody was above Ryan. At some point Emily was video recording our conversation thru her phone. I asked her to stop video she called me with f…… word. Ryan the manager didn't do anything about it. Didn't even apologized just looked my face and smiled. I had to leave before it goes further. I am going to cancel my membership and i don't suggest anybody this GYM.

    I have a membership over a year , and Some of machines have being waiting over years. We are really wondering when the all machines will work properly at gym. Because there is certain machines and many people at same time in the gym. If the machines are broken, gotta wait on line for 15-20 minutes. As LA fitness, I guess this location reserve better management teams who can solve the problems in time and much faster to get customer satisfaction!

    Tried out this place with a guest pass and loved it. It’s less crowded than the Secaucus one and has newer equipment. The pool is with clear warm water. The hot tub is a little cold, considering it's called a hot tub.

    I've been coming to this gym for about two years. I love it. It's a very nice community. It's diverse, and the customers and staff are warm and friendly. The environment, a large flagship, is great. The classes are great. Darrell and the managers are motivating and care about requests. Aiden and the front desk team are great! openers. I think Aiden is the best. He's super cool and friendly

    The gym is overcrowded and some of the equipments are poorly maintained. They made me sign a one-year personal training contract without explaining to me that I need to pay for 50% OF THE REMAINING OF THE YEAR to get out of the contract(the dude who sold it to me said something like:”If you want to cancel, we can cancel it for you.”), which makes me feel scammed. Most of the trainers do not seem very devoted and knowledgeable and $260 per month for 25 minute sessions weekly is not really worth it.

    Messy gym. Dumbbell rack was all over the place. Many machines missing pins or attachments. On the phone I was told I could get a 7 day trial but the owner refused to give it to me. When I told him I was only in town for 3 months he continued to try to sell me contracts I didn’t need and tried to make me feel stupid for asking basic questions after he continued to contradict himself. I was fairly obvious he was trying to upsell me and insulted me while doing it. I don’t typically leave negative reviews but this was abhorrent. 0/10

    I signed up to LA Fitness last year when NYSC Clifton closed down. The only pros of this gym are the amount of equipment available and it’s convenience. The cons are plentiful, such as: always crowded, not clean (most people do not clean the equipment after using it), the entire gym smells terrible, very disorganized (equipment is all over the place and it’s difficult to find matching weights most times), a lot of equipment has been broken for months (such as the stair masters and elliptical machines), there is no social distancing implemented (even if you choose to wear a mask, you will still have people on top of you. This is especially true of the cardio machines on the second floor in front of the racquetball rooms as people will constantly come in and out of those rooms and begin leaning [yes literally] on the cardio machines you are currently using), and there are often large groups of guys taking over equipment for extended periods of time for their workouts and photo shoots (smh). I am ending my membership as soon as I find a better establishment. Update added on November 4, 2021: 8 ellipticals and 8 stair masters, yet none are working!!! Terrible Update added on November 5, 2021: displaying the poor feedback received. How dare they lie and say that their equipment is maintained on a weekly basis, when the same machines have been broken/malfunctioning for the last 11 months?! Update 11/9/2021: even the older ellipticals are malfunctioning. There are 12 of these models, yet only 2-3 seem to be functional. The main issue is that these machines are pulling when pedaling, which will cause injuries. I find it hard to believe that the cardio machines on the second floor are maintained since the same machines for all of the elliptical models have been pulling since I signed up 11 months ago. I also want to highlight that 1 of the 2 torso rotation machines is broken. Update from 11/11/2021: 3 more machines that are broken and can’t be used due to missing pieces (3 pictures added) Update 11/12/2021: it’s sad to see their own trainers hogging the machines when they aren’t even using them. Attempted to use one of the EMPTY leg press machines. One of the trainers was next to it with 2 of his clients while 1 client was doing push-ups on the floor. I kindly asked if someone was using it to be courteous, and they claimed that they are. A trainer and 2 clients should not be claiming machines that they are not using. You’re working with 2 clients; why not have 1 use the machine instead of leaving it empty and blocking others from using it. Given that most of the equipment doesn’t work properly, this is ridiculous to hog machines that you aren’t currently using.

    I enjoy attending the LA fitness franchise gym. The staff is always nice. Of course like any gym they have their peak hours !! But for the most part they have a variety of machines and when something is broken they are pretty fast in putting up a sign to let us know.

    The worst gym I have been able to go to in my life, the staff is very rude (Mateo) I asked him for help and he started yelling at me. The 60% of the machines are broken, the pool area and the whirlpool are dirty and closed most of the time, but the worst thing is that I tried to cancel my membership and it was not until after 1 month that I was successful because they happened to cancel it when it was already the next charge, they are scammers, no one should go to this gym.

    The gym has great lighting, plenty of space, and a relatively good layout. So why two stars? A good 20-25% of the equipment is broken and has been since I signed up over a month ago. Simple things like replacing a pedal on a bicycle or replacing a tension band on the abdominal machine. I'm not sure what's going on with maintenance here, but Corporate should step it up.

    I love this gym and the workers. The person who helped me understand how things work and had great communication skills was Marcela. She showed me around and told me the everything about the gym. The way she spoke to me was phenomenal she made me feel welcomed. I almost wanted to cry because this was the first time I ever felt welcomed in a gym due to my weight which is a VERY sensitive topic for me(235 Lbs).And I ABSOLUTELY appreciate Marcela for that.

    I received a call by an employee named Nicholle And she was so nice and offered me a 3 day trial. She was able to accommodate with scheduling me according to my work schedule. I arrived the day of and she welcomed me and gave me a tour throughout the gym. Great experience, definitely signed up

    The place is very spacious. Plenty of machines. The problem of this place is machines is getting old and needs maintenance. The management never invests in machines. Machines can be out of service for several weeks. The place have a lot of potentials to be better if they organize it little bit. The dumbbell are need more attention it is in chaos. There is a room all the way in the back to the right side, this room is a disaster, it has many machines and once it is crowded you can smell the sweating, it is extremely terrible. This is not matching a big name like LA Fitness. The gym can be much better than this if the management insist in new machines

    No air conditioner in the studio room again for like 3 year’s consecutive. Promise and promise that it will be fix. Last week I drove 1 hour rushing from work and I had to go out of the room 5 times because I thought I was going to faint. We don’t pay $10 a month, we pay way more than that and we expect better service. This is so frustrating

    I went to this gym and was pleasantly surprised by how good the customer service was. An associate named Nichole helped me throughout my time in the gym and offered me the best possible deals for a membership. The facility was clean and up to par. I really enjoyed myself there and look forward to working out there.

    The sign up process was easy and the equipment available for use is top notch. Not many gyms have so many rooms and so much equipment to use. No matter what kind of activity you do you'll find a good spot to do it between the studio room, stretching room, terf, punching bags, and weight areas. If you need anything at all definitely see Nicole or Darryl (the assistant manager and manager respectively) they're both wonderful and make you feel welcome and taken care of from day 1. The gym equipment will get you through the door but the management will definitely make you want to stay.

    Signed up with a friend today! Excited!!! and big thanks to Nicole for helping us sign up, the vibes absolutely great in here.The tour around the gym was professional/upbeat. Met the other staff members they were as well knowledge as Nicole . I would definitely recommend to sign up and have Nicole as their agent. Thanks again girl!

    So much good about this LA fitness, including nice staff, juice bar, and a well-maintained pool, but overall cleanliness and repair leaves a lot to be desired. It seems to open in the am without being cleaned from the day before. There is daily cleaning but mold in the showers, insects in the pool shower from an outside door with a damaged seal, and dirt under machines doesn't give confidence. There are multiple areas throughout the gym so always a place to work out but many treadmills are in poor repair (often go through 3or 4 treadmills to find a good one), rusty machines, and missing pins mean I need to change up my planned workout. Even so it's still a good gym, just needs more attention.

    These people are scammers. I called to cancel my membership. I applied for the 2 week trial and never went in that gym once. I called to cancel and they never told me about a cancellation form and never canceled my membership I’ve been charged over $200 for 2 months and RYAN the terrible “operation manager” who didn’t allow me to speak to anybody else that can actually help me , had an attitude and was nasty. I spoke to someone else in that gym who informed me I CAN receive a reimbursement for never entering somewhere and being scammed into a membership. I’ll be calling corporates and seeing what I can do to resolve this issue. If you get Ryan on the line ask to speak to someone else because he WONT help you and owes not care.

    I love Cycle classes with Barbie H.! She's my favorite instructor and truly brings such great energy to EVERY single class! The music is fun and diverse and totally keeps everyone hyped through the whole class. She's there four times a week so you can definitely make sure to join the fun!

    I have been working out there for at least 7 months now. I have to admit LA has it's down. Some machines would be out of service, weights would be scattered everywhere and the women showers/bathroom could be a lot cleaner. However the staff/ management are friendly and the trainers (including my own trainer Angelica) have been very helpful throughout my health & wellness journey. So despite all the negatives it hasn't stopped me from getting my gains.

    Love the gym thats located in Clifton. They have a great staff, awesome gym and equipment and not to mention the perks that they offer. Definitely recommend LA fitness especially if your looking for a multi state club gym. The prices are also flexible and affordable if your in a budget. Thanks for reading.

    I enjoy LA Fitness for years now for their variety of equipment, the sauna & the juice bar. Shout out to Omar R. Who always greets me with a smile and enthusiasm whenever I enter the gym. He makes sure that I along with other friends I work out with are good & if there’s ever any issue - he’s always there.

    Facilities are great: weight circuit, pool, hot tub, sauna, functional strength area and classes. I can’t speak highly enough about my trainer Angelica. She’s masterful at creating a customized plan unique to a gym member and start where you are. I returned to the gym after a lengthy break and she has steadily worked with me yo make gains in my strength and stamina, and always with a major focus on form. Angelica’s detail yo girl ensures a better workout and noticeable results. If you join the gym or already are a member, she’s a great trainer to get started with or continue your existing program.

    I was recently trying to get back in the gym and now with kids thats not so easy. I stopped in the Clifton location and was greeted by Jay. He explained all that LA Fitness had to offer over the other gyms. I didnt sign up that time , however his pitch on your gym did not make me feel as though i was being pressured. Into it. I told him this is a process for me and he understood it and just assured me if i did choose this place. I wouldn’t regret it. He explained how the whole family would benefit from being there also. Once i get everything together i would consider coming there. Jay is the best. As a former District Sales Manager, i would definitely try to get Jay on my team. His raw natural sales skills are what you look for as a manager. Look forward to seeing you soon.

    I’ve been going to this location off and on for about 4 months now and nobody ever greets me, offers me any help, etc so I was very much so suprise when one of their staff from member services offered to assist me during his work out while he was off duty. He said that his name is Jay. To me this kind of customer service is indicative of a dedicated staff that cares about customer relationships. I sent my sister there the following day (last week) where she got her membership with the same rep. Thank you Jay!

    I have been a member since it opened and for the last two summers there has been NO air conditioning in the workout room. Last year, they finally put some big fans to try to help but that very little. Today it is 92 degrees. The only reason I come is because of the instructor, if she leaves so will I. I pay too much for conditions like this.

    I recently had the pleasure of working with Jay, an LA Fitness Manager and in my opinion he's a fitness expert, and I can confidently say that my experience has been nothing short of stellar. I can appreciate the staff but it's noteworthy to comment that Jay's expertise and passion for fitness are truly unmatched. He not only possesses an in-depth knowledge of the operations but even offered his intellect as a former athlete in how various workout techniques offered can be tailored to achieve my specific needs and goals. A gym is a gym if it has the equipment... but, Jay and people like him are a determining factor in the places that I choose to endorse with my own earning but also promote to my friends and family. Meeting with him at such a low point in my fitness journey was the burst of positive energy that has been infectious, creating a dynamic and uplifting atmosphere that motivates me after long days. From our conversations thus far I have no doubt that Jay's expertise will pivot him to a promotion and could be exemplary in training on operations, customer service, fitness and a strong emphasis on holistic well-being. This level of dedication demonstrates his genuine interest in the success and well-being of his clients and LA Fitness Clifton.     Jay helped my decision to start my weight loss journey a very easy one. I had plans to get a pass to try the facility out at first, but after meeting with him, I immediately signed up and cancelled my other gym. It was a no brainer for me. I’m even more excited to be a member of L.A. Fitness now.

    Jay was extremely professional and kind. He provided with a personal tour of the facility. Also, he made me feel very comfortable, in order to join. He is a true asset to the organization!
