Tommy’s has really gone downhill since the pandemic. While other restaurants have bounced back, Tommy’s quality has suffered. Dine-in is lunch time, Monday to Friday only. The rest of the time is carryout only. I get there’s a staffing shortage but maybe raise your wages. We ordered cheese balls, fried zucchini and a medium pepperoni pizza. Both the cheese balls and zucchini were way overcooked. The pizza crust was not crispy. I picked it up as it was coming out of the oven so it was still hot. Terribly disappointing.

Literally the BEST and biggest meatball sub I've ever had. The pizza was so, so, so mouth watering delicious. I can't believe it was my first time. It definitely won't be my last!

Still the BEST pizza and subs in town! Their fried cauliflower is also delicious. A true institution!! Call ahead for dine-in times or order take out.

Formerly the greatest pizza in Columbus, this Tommy’s is absolutely abysmal now. My family and I completely avoid this location and will go out of our way to order from one of the other Tommy’s Pizzas. The UA restaurant is riddled with quality control issues, from over cooked pizzas, under cooked or cold pizzas, too much salt in the sauce (I don’t know why else a pizza would be salty so I assume it’s the sauce??), and just overall low quality food that you would expect from a highway exit McDonald’s. It’s so unfortunate to see an iconic Columbus pizzeria go down the drain like this one has but its the sad reality. Heed my words and avoid this Tommy’s…I say this as someone who’s been eating at this restaurant for the last 20 years and who worked here for my first job. This used to be the only pizza place you would go to. Now it’s the last.

Tommy’s was a household staple growing up and now there’s not a location close by, so when we were near campus, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to get some. Never dined in before (we always got carryout before), but decided to switch it up. The pizza is still good, hot and cheesy, and the appetizer sampler was good too.

Though my family and I have been Tommy's customers for 50 years, we won't be returning. I called for a carryout order and was told my pizza would be ready in 1 hour to 1 hour and 20 minutes. I understood that they were busy and placed my order. I walked in after 1 hour and 8 minutes and was told it would be be 2 to 2.5 hours. When I stated that I was told on the phone that it would be 1 to 1:20 I was told "that was only an estimate ". When I asked to discuss it with the manager, she said she was the manager. When I asked to discuss the inaccuracy of the "estimate " with her supervisor, I was told "it's my mom and my Aunt, so good luck with that". She then cancelled my order altogether. In my opinion, one needs to beware of the wildly inaccurate phone estimates and rudeness of the staff.

Where to start with Tommy's Pizza? Well I've lived in the Columbus area for over 18 years and have never eaten at any of their locations - I know that's almost blasphemous. To my defense I've always lived on the NE or E sides of cbus. I decided to make the trip on 01/25 to the Upper Arlington location and give it a try. I called to order pickup at 6:30pm, the line was busy - didn't even think that was still possible in 2019. Called back a few minutes later, phone rang 10 times then someone answered and said "Tommy's can you hold." I said sure, then was on hold for another couple minutes. Not a great start so far. I ask if I can place an order for pickup, the person said it'll take an hour, to which I replied no problem. So I place my order - a large pepperoni and pineapple, a large sausage and green pepper, a meatball sub, broccoli bites, and cheese balls. The person doesn't tell me how much the total is and just says bye. Not really a big deal, but they're not off to the best start. So I wait an appropriate amount of time and set out on my drive, trying to time it so that I arrive after an hour has elapsed. Based on my GPS it looked like I was going to arrive a couple minutes early, so I stopped and got a car wash. I finally reach Tommy's and it has the old school charm from the street with their old fashioned sign and building. However I quickly noticed their parking lot was packed full, so I double parked at the pet supply store next door, figuring I'd be in and out since at this point it was an hour and 5 minutes after I ordered. I walk inside, pay my bill and the cashier says "We'll let you know when it's ready" Hmmmm perplexing considering it's already been longer than an hour. So I stand there, 5 minutes pass, then 10, now I'm getting worried about parking at the pet store, figured plenty of people do it and they probably get towed. So I nervously walk out front and very quickly check on my car - it's fine, no tow truck in sight. Walk back in and continue to wait. Another 5 minutes pass, I repeat the check on my car and walk back in. Finally after waiting a total of 20 minutes they have my order ready, which makes it an hour and 25 minutes after placing my order. So at the point I'm pretty irritated and thinking to myself this pizza better be worth it. I get home and check the order, it's all correct which is a good sign, pizza looks great, has ample toppings. All the additional stuff I ordered looked great as well. Now to the good part, despite the issues with ordering and picking up, it was absolutely worth the hassle. All the other reviews I read said the crust was cracker thin, and this is only sort of true. When I hear that description of a crust it makes me think of Rubino's which I didn't particularly like. Tommy's crust while thin, was crispy, flakey, and delicious, definitely a bit thicker than cracker thin. The sauce/cheese/toppings were all fresh and excellent quality. The meatball sub was awesome, you can definitely tell the meatballs were homemade. The bun was a bit soggy even though they double wrapped it in aluminum foil, but that's easily rectified by just toasting it at home for a little bit. The cheese balls were golden deep fried and tasty. Lastly the broccoli bites - it was like eating cheesy broccoli casserole inside the same golden deep fried shell that the cheese balls had. The pièce de résistance, however, was their ranch. Hands down the best ranch in the city. It's homemade and spectacular. I recommend getting a pint with your order if you carry out so you have extra at home. Overall the quality of the product far outweighs their customer service and was totally worth it. My personal rating for the pizza is a 4.9, ranch is a 5, sides are a 4.7 and customer experience is a 4. Overall I would rate Tommy's a 4.8. Since Google doesn't allow decimal reviews I rounded up to a 5. I will definitely be back in the future and will just plan on their quoted pick up time being off due to how busy they are.

It breaks my heart that Tommy’s has forgotten what is important-good pizza and customer service. We were in Columbus for a game (we now live in Texas) and wanted our usual tasty Tommy’s pepperoni. I won’t go into what it took to finally get one (from the Dublin store) as the west Lane Ave location was a disaster. We were treated poorly by a rude person at the counter and then basically kicked out by a security/police officer when we wanted a few minutes to talk about ordering a pizza in person. Just so sad. Tommy’s, please sell the business if you can’t hack it. Or just close.

Update- changing to 1 star- still tasting it 12 hrs later. Original below: Super crisp, super greasy, super efficient. Pick up was fast and the lady behind the counter was on it. I got a small pizza 1/2 pepperoni. Crispiest cracker crust ever, tastes like the butter crust on Home Run frozen pizza. Only super thin and super crisp. And soaked in grease. Cheese - not great. It tasted like a blend with cheddar but was probably romano on top. Way too many pepperoni on the half with pep. Still burping pepperoni 5 hrs later.

Great Pizza but the place needs help in the Sub Department! I love the pizza here and the Subs could be just as good however they never pay attention to the customers order. If a customer pays for double meat and well done the sub should be double meat and well done. Instead, they rush the subs out in a hastily fashion and not only do they not provide the double meat the sub is also cold and not fully cooked. This has happened on 4 separate occasions at the Arlington location. You can do better Tommy's! If want good pizza they still are on point, if you want a good sub head to Iacono's where the subs are great and the staff listens to their customers.

I ordered pizza for takeout last week using the “order ahead” feature on the website. I received a text a half hour later that it was ready. Called and was told the order ahead option “shouldn’t be part of the website” and they can’t actually delay an order. I asked if they could remake the order later, for a refund, or future credit and was told no. What prompted me to leave this review was how I was brushed off by the employees for the mistake. I hope the owner sees this because if it were me I would want to know how my employees are treating customers.

They don't pick up the phone. They put you on hold and forget to answer. Online ordering system sucks. Been going here for 40 years. About to throw in the towel on this place that has given up on its customers.

I've sworn by Tommy's Pizza. It was one of my favorite pizzas. However, the last pizza I purchased was overcooked and very dry. When I called to inform them, the person who answered the phone was very rude. Because I experienced that, I will NOT go back to Tommy's Pizza UA or the Campus location. Good luck Tommy's your quality of Pizza has declined.

Wanted to enjoy a classic Columbus-style pizza and decided to try Tommy's for the first time as someone who grew up in Columbus, eating this style of pizza often. Holy salt! I have no clue if it was because I requested "extra garlic" on my online order, but the pizza I received was so unpleasantly salty, I was trying to wipe it off before eating a slice. Not sure if they're using garlic salt, but it was rough. Underneath it all I felt like there was a good pie to be had and I'd like to give this place another shot since so many folks enjoy their food, but tonight's pizza really struck out with me.

Last night, I had the pleasure of dining at Tommy's Pizza, and it was an experience I won't soon forget. As a pizza aficionado, I'm always on the hunt for that perfect slice, and Tommy's did not disappoint. From the moment I walked in, the aroma of baking dough and simmering tomato sauce filled the air, setting the stage for an authentic pizza experience. The ambiance of the restaurant was cozy and inviting, with a charming Italian decor that made me feel like I was dining in a little pizzeria in Naples. The menu at Tommy's is a delightful mix of classic and innovative pizzas, each one sounding more tempting than the last. I settled on their signature Margherita and a specialty meat lover’s pizza. The crust on both pizzas was exceptional – perfectly thin, crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside. The toppings were fresh, flavorful, and generously applied, with the tomato sauce striking a perfect balance between sweet and tangy. What really elevated the experience was the staff's warmth and attentiveness. They were knowledgeable about the menu and happy to make recommendations. The service was prompt without feeling rushed, adding to the relaxed dining experience.

Best pizza ever. Consistent flavor for decades. I live in a different state so I am lucky to get it once a year and it is deliciously consistent.

There's only ever going to be ONE Tommy's Pizza and when it's gone, there will never be another. I'm still sad the Tommy's I grew up with on the far east side no longer exists. The Pandemic and its sad aftermath had me terrified we would lose Tommy's Upper Arlington. I hope this store can get back up to speed with a full staff so people don't think they're closed and so they can keep up once people know they aren't. I'm still not 100% certain that what happened to eastside Tommy's won't happen to Upper Arlington Tommy's. The tastes are the same (the taste of MY childhood) at these two locations. If this one goes, it would be so terribly tragic. I'm starting to feel like the old man in a Barry Levinson film (Avalon, 1990): The old man returns to the old neighborhood and everything's changed. He begins recounting all the places he loved that are gone now until, at last, he sees that one of those beloved places is still standing. "Thank God," he says... "I was beginning to believe I didn't exist." Please people, keep this place existing. In the meantime, and until this store is once again fully staffed, this is Tommy's Upper Arlington's post-pandemic schedule: Mon: 11am - 4pm* Tue: 11am - 10pm Wed: 11am - 4pm* Thu: 11am - 10pm Fri: 11am - 10pm Sat: 4pm - 10pm Sun: 4pm - 10pm * Subs must be ordered BEFORE 3:15pm on Mon & Wed.

This place is racist. We’ve tried comin here twice two years in a row for a graduation dinner and both times (‘21 and ‘23) were turned away by there service. If you want to celebrate your family and their accomplishments with a pizza dinner do not come here.

Went on a Friday at 1p. There were 5 of us. Sign said no groups of 6 or more…(??). Ok asked woman we will just sit at two tables no big deal. (Had 3 more coming). She said no. You can’t. We only have two servers. Umm what? There were maybe 5 others there eating. She literally would not allow us to eat there. 🤯. Poor doesn’t describe this.

Tommy's is old-school Italian. The smells as you walk in remind me of Italian places in NYC! GREAT pizza and subs. Entrees are really good as well.

Love Tommy's, but ordered a large onion rings tonight and there were literally 6 in the box. Outrageous for almost $6. What would I have gotten if I'd ordered a small, 3?

Pretty disappointing that Tommy's Pizza closes at 9pm on Thursday and at 8:35 they tell us the kitchen is closed! My husband and I just wanted a sub to go. Still love the "nostalgia " with Tommy's, but disappointed in the service. Just close your doors if you don't want anyone coming in.

Best pizza ever. So thin and flaky, crisp and delicious. I ate a large by myself. Didn't even have time to take a picture.

Ordered online around 5:15. As I placed the order, it said 50-60 min. No biggie. Got a text after placing the order and it said 85 min. Again, no biggie. Went to pick up pizza and was constantly told they were understaffed due to call-offs, or it would be 15-20 more minutes. Except it ended up being another 45 minutes. While at restaurant waiting heard them say they take orders online, over the phone, Door Dash, and Grubhub. This place doesn’t need the extras. They need to pay their staff and open their darn dining room. Tommy Iacono would be embarrassed if he saw todays operation.

Waited 5 min before being asked if we wanted a table. Then told 20 min wait which is fine. Well we ordered to go still 20 min wait came in to get order and saw several tables available and no one on the list so we asked if we could sit. Was told no tables avail and others were waiting on them. Food was half overcooked also. Ruined our lunch so i will not ever go back

I'm really sad to write this review. I've eaten at Tommy's for over 20 years and it is still the best pizza in the Columbus area. However, they've outsourced their menu and delivery services to third parties. If you click "order online" it isn't Tommy's, it's DoorDash and not immediately apparent. If your order gets messed up and you call Tommy's, they tell you to take it up with DoorDash, and DoorDash is going to take at least an hour to fix it - meanwhile your food is cold or you aren't eating dinner until 9 PM. Tommy's is out of the picture and unwilling to help. In the last 4-5 orders I've done online, only one has been successfully executed without some sort of error. Also, they are hit-and-miss with making their awesome subs available. Tonight I just decided to drive down to the store and order subs directly becasue we all wanted subs from Tommy's. They are the best, and nobody makes them like Tommy's. I walk into the store to see a skeleton crew. It's been this way since COVID. But now, with all the restrictions lifted, they seem to be sticking with running the restaurant as solely a pizza factory. The only people coming in the door are DoorDash drivers. I wait for 5 minutes before anyone acknowledges me at all, and when I finally walk up and state that I'd like to order some subs and I have no problem waiting, they tell me they aren't making subs tonight. I ask when they are making subs, and she states that they make them during the week but not tonight. Tommy's needs to embrace the 20th century and get a real online ordering system and be consistent for their customers. The only reason they are getting away with this current model is because they have multi-generational loyal customers and great food, but that won't last if they keep operating this way. I'm so sad to write this review. I love you Tommy's. Please try to get back to making it easy to get your food. I'm happy to give you my money. But if you are making it this hard, I'm sorry to say I'll be spending my money elsewhere. :(

Columbus has no shortage of incredible pizza places, and each one seems to have amazing similarities and unique differences. Tommy's is an old legendary favorite that shares the amazing cheese with a stretchy bite, pockets of bubbles of delicious, chewy, pillowy dough and tangy sauce, with other amazing pizza parlors. Where Tommy's really earns a place in my memory is the crust, chewy on top but so crispy, buttery and flaky on the bottom with just subtle hints of char. I don't get back to Ohio much and haven't had a Tommy's Pizza in almost 30 years. Decided on our trip to share this place with my daughter. All the taste and memories came back and she was very impressed by the flavors and textures. Great place for a good pie.

We didn’t even get to dine in bc the servers couldn’t handle more than a 6 top and when we offered to split up, she said oh I’m sorry we can’t do that either bc one of our servers is going on break. Ummm what?!?! When I used to serve, we didn’t have “breaks.” It should be noted we were the only other people in the business besides the staff. This business should be ashamed of themselves!!!
