From
a
staffing
perspective,
the
pool
lifeguards
are,
I
understand,
also
charged
with
responsibility
for
the
Tepidarium.
In
this
regard,
and
despite
the
many
signs,
they
only
tackle
noise
and
noisy
students
if
specifically
asked
(and
then
pushed)
to
do
so,
and
it
is
a
daily
issue.
The
lifeguards
are
extremely
reluctant
to
talk
to
their
peer
group
where
the
lifeguards
are
also
students
-
somewhat
surprisingly,
the
boys
are
slightly
better
than
the
girls!
A
number
of
the
lifeguards
occasionally
join
the
students
in
the
jacuzzi
“shouting
match”
adding
to
the
noise
or
where
some
are
throwing
ice,
presumably
for
fun
-
the
latter
represents
a
health
and
safety
issue:
if
a
member
got
struck
in
the
eye
(for
example)
by
someone
throwing
ice,
UCD
will
get
sued,
make
no
mistake.
Training
and
some
oversight
(of
the
lifeguards)
is
badly
needed
here
to
deal
with
both
issues
and
ensure
the
lifeguards
are
actually
doing
their
jobs
......
Similarly,
come
closing
time,
the
lifeguards
stroll
in
but
show
the
same
reticence
in
getting
students
out
of
the
jacuzzi,
particularly
if
there
is
a
group
of
them
talking,
the
lifeguards
make
no
attempt
to
get
their
attention,
none,
and
they
remain
as
long
as
they
like!
There
needs
to
be
one
rule
for
everybody
here.
Again,
this
should
be
covered
by
training
and
oversight
(of
the
lifeguards).
Additionally,
while
UCD
spent
a
lot
of
money
on
an
expensive
fit
out
for
the
Tepidarium,
the
maintenance
needs
to
be
vastly
improved.
Both
the
window
frame
in
front
of
the
Sauna
and
that
in
front
of
the
Jacuzzi
is
covered
in
rust
and
the
beds
in
the
Jacuzzi
are
also
rusting
badly
on
the
underside
-
this
can
actually
be
cleaned
off!
The
plastic
surround
of
the
jacuzzi
is
filthy
and
the
hand
showers
in
the
Steamroom
and
shower
area
are
broken
for
quite
a
while
now
....
similarly,
the
door
and
door
handles
going
into
the
male
and
female
private
members’
changing
area
are
also
covered
in
rust
........
again,
this
can
be
dealt
with
.......
The
maintenance
matters
are
things
which
only
require
a
limited
amount
of
effort,
are
low
cost
and
would
make
a
huge
difference,
especially
when
the
Sports
Centre
is
competing
for
members
with
the
likes
of
Westwood
Club,
for
example
......
