TL;DR
The
gym
has
decent
amenities
but
has
an
absolute
terrible
selection
of
weights.
The
security
system
is
so
abysmal
that
even
the
garda
has
said
to
avoid.
Pros:
-Pool
is
pretty
good
with
some
great
classes/family
friendly
zones
-exercise
classes
are
decent,
routines
don’t
get
swapped
up
but
the
people
leading
it
are
good
energy
-gym
is
great
if
all
you
want
to
do
is
cardio
Cons:
There
is
a
very
limited
amount
of
actual
weights
in
the
gym.
The
split
seems
to
be
about
70/30%
for
cardio
machines/weightlifting
equipment.
As
others
have
said,
this
is
fine
for
a
small
student
population
but
considering
the
tens
of
thousands
of
students
on
campus
AND
the
fact
that
the
gym
sells
memberships
to
non-students,
this
is
unacceptable.
I
find
about
half
my
workouts
there
were
waiting
for
benches
or
squat
racks
to
free
up.
From
what
I’ve
overheard,
the
personal
trainers
seem
to
have
some
knowledge
which
is
fine
for
beginners,
but
not
great
for
someone
that
needs
help
critiquing
form
over
just
planning
diet/workouts.
The
BIGGEST
issue
is
the
lack
of
security.
The
gym
forces
every
member
to
lock
their
belongings
in
a
locker
in
the
change
room
using
their
“own”
locks
(which
I
suspect
was
bought
in
bulk
from
euro
giant).
The
lock
itself
costs
something
like
5-10
euro.
The
lock
combination
can
be
either
picked
in
about
30
seconds
by
a
novice
thief,
or
simply
forced
open
with
mild
to
moderate
force.
Note
that
THERE
IS
NO
OTHER
OPTION,
if
you
try
to
keep
your
bag
with
you
in
a
corner
while
working
out
you’ll
be
asked
to
leave.
If
your
belongings
do
get
stolen,
the
staff
will
“look
over
the
security
footage”
and
by
that
I
mean
they’ll
go
into
a
back
room
and
scroll
through
Facebook/instagram
on
their
phones
for
an
hour.
Hopefully
you
manage
to
find
bus
fare
home
at
that
point
because
the
staff
sure
don’t
care
if
you’re
now
stranded
on
campus.
If
you
try
to
get
the
garda
involved,
they’ll
let
you
know
that
THINGS
GET
STOLEN
ABOUT
ONCE
A
WEEK,
AND
THE
CAMERAS/STAFF
ARE
USELESS.
The
advice
the
garda
gave
me
was
“avoid
that
gym”.
Now
you
may
say
that
people
should
not
bring
in
valuables
to
the
gym.
This
is
fine
for
regular
gyms,
but
considering
that
this
is
an
on
campus
gym
most
students
want
to
go
to
a
couple
classes
in
the
morning,
go
to
the
gym
then
maybe
study/take
the
hour
bus
ride
back
home
since
they
cant
afford
to
rent
anywhere
close
to
UCD.
If
this
gym
is
your
only
option
for
weightlifting,
I
recommend
you
just
do
pushups
and
sit
ups
at
home.
At
least
that
way
you
wont
risk
losing
hundreds-thousands
of
euro
in
belongings
while
the
staff
just
laugh.
