I'll attempt to summarize our hotel experience in a few words. Upon arrival, we waited approximately 45 minutes before receiving the room reservation made weeks in advance. Check-in Issues: The problems began with a billing discrepancy showing payment for two rooms but allocation of only one. This required correction through A&O's main office, and while we received the correct invoice within minutes, the missing room assignment issue persisted for an extended period. Room Conditions: Upon entering our room, the air conditioning was non-functional. Despite being switched on, the system continuously heated the room rather than cooling it. The room temperature was approximately 30°C (86°F) upon entry, accompanied by an unpleasant odor. Sleep was only possible with windows open. Cleanliness Standards: Room cleanliness was significantly below acceptable standards. Beyond the visibly aged furnishings, dust was present in easily accessible corners that housekeeping should have addressed. The washbasin, shower fixtures, and bathtub showed extensive limescale buildup that had been overlooked. Breakfast Service: We purchased breakfast the following morning, advertised as available from 7:00-10:00 AM. Arriving shortly after 9:00 AM, we found no eggs remaining, only ham available from the meat selection, crushed butter, and merely three rolls left. When inquiring with staff, we were told that since breakfast was ending soon, minimal to no replenishment would occur. Facility Issues: Despite hotel-wide advertising of complimentary WiFi, while connection was possible, no external internet access was available. Two snack vending machines in the lobby have remained non-functional since our arrival two days ago. Additionally, one of two hotel elevators is out of service, while the operational elevator fails to function with more than four occupants, despite signage indicating a 900kg capacity. Conclusion: This hotel experience was thoroughly disappointing and falls well short of reasonable hospitality standards. We will not be rebooking this property and cannot recommend it to others. The combination of operational failures, maintenance issues, and substandard service creates an unacceptable guest experience. -> Would not recommend.
Good value for the money and great location. The rooms are nothing too fancy but after all you get what you pay for. The staff I came across was very friendly.
The hostel looks like a hotel and looks like a&o bought an old hotel and renovated it. I was skeptic from the Google reviews at first but it was way better than I expected. The staff were friendly. Unfortunately some of the things in the other reviews were true regarding no internet connection and in the second day water started dripping a bit from the washroom ceiling.Other than that it was a great stay and I would definitely stay here again.
Business trip, good beds, small room ok, dirty and moldy bathroom, poor fonic isolation, lot of noise from outside and from the hallway.
We were very satisfied. The price was really good for Milan, and the rooms were great for the price. The staff was very friendly, and the coffee was excellent.
For the price it's kind of fine, room is big enough but yeah it smells funny inside when you go in. You can guess they open this hostel quickly to grab cash before opening the other building. Room was clean when I entered, air conditioner ok, you hear the noise from the corridor, wifi is working now and personnel are here to help.
Poor breakfast without any proactive refilling. Any clean service in my room during the 4 nights I stayed. A place where never to be back.
It is a nice stay , I did it from booking.com , later on I saw the reviews on Google I thought I got trapped. But to our surprise everything is good , beds are good , rooms are good, bathroom is good. Near to tram and metro.
For travelers on a budget, A&O Hostel Milano Ca’ Granda presents itself as a reasonable choice. Despite some minor issues, such as occasional leaks in the bathroom ceiling and inconsistent Wi-Fi, the overall experience was quite agreeable. The staff's genuine kindness and helpfulness contributed to a welcoming atmosphere, and the buffet, while not the most economical at €11 per person, offered a surprisingly extensive and enjoyable selection. Furthermore, the hostel's proximity to the metro and other public transport is a significant advantage, with the city center easily accessible within a 30-minute journey. In conclusion, it is a suitable option for those mindful of their expenses or those willing to accept minor trade-offs for a friendly and conveniently located accommodation.
No wifi for our entire 4 night stay. Refused to give any refund or compensation. Staff didn’t know anything and were not helpful. Dirty rooms, weird smell, bathroom leaking from ceiling.
Worse hotel experience of my life. Very poor service and bad behavior from staff. Highly not recommended they have bad ratings because of a reason
A complete disappointment ★☆☆☆☆ It’s hard to believe a hotel like this exists in such a popular city. From the moment we arrived, the staff were cold and disinterested, which immediately set the tone for our stay. The room was poorly equipped and the furnishings were cheap and worn out. There was only one power outlet—barely enough to charge our devices. The bathroom was even worse. Water was dripping from the ceiling through a strange fixture, raising serious hygiene and safety concerns. Housekeeping was practically nonexistent. Despite requesting cleaning in the morning, we returned to an untouched room—crumpled sheets, dirty bathroom, and towels carelessly tossed on the floor. To top it all off, the noise at night from neighboring rooms was unbearable. It felt more like a hostel than a hotel. And with no staff available at reception, there was no one to report the disturbance to. All in all, a terrible experience. I strongly recommend looking elsewhere—this place could ruin your trip.
A complete fiasco - Never again! It is surprising that such a hotel exists in a city like Milan. The receptionist was cold and indifferent at the entrance. When I asked for the wifi password, he refused to give me the password even though there were two different networks in the hotel. Although I repeatedly stated that I needed internet, she said "it was broken" without even looking at my face. It is not acceptable that the internet does not work in this age, but the real disgrace was in the room. The first thing I realised when I got to the room was how inadequate and poor quality the facilities were. There was only one socket - yes, in 2025, in Milan, in a room with only one socket! I had to take turns charging my electronic devices. The furnishings were beyond cheap: used, falling apart. The bathroom was another disaster. There was a strainer-like piece on the ceiling that I couldn't understand what it was for, and water was dripping from it every few seconds. The ceiling was literally leaking. It is not possible to talk about hygiene or safety in the face of such a view. Cleaning service? That's only on paper. I requested housekeeping in the morning. When I returned in the evening, no cleaning had been done in my room, only one or two towels were left on the floor in a hurry. The sheets were still crumpled, the bathroom was dirty as it was. But above all, the hotel's customer portfolio was really deplorable. There was shouting and laughter from the neighbouring rooms all night long. I felt like I was staying in a school dormitory between 2-3 a.m. It was impossible to sleep. Worst of all, I couldn't find a single official to report this situation. The reception was empty, the hotel seemed unattended. This hotel ruined my holiday plan. If anyone wants to stay, think twice. Stay away if you don't want to be disgraced with your money. This hotel is a shame!
Unfortunately, apart from the attractive price, the only positive things I can mention are the friendliness of the staff and the convenient location, not far from the city center. When you read on the website about the opening of a new hostel, you certainly don’t expect that it actually opened in place of some old hotel that used to be there. The rooms have old furniture, curtains with holes, water dripping from the bathroom ceiling, the wallpaper is far from fresh, and the wardrobe smells unpleasant. The Wi-Fi works terribly, one of the elevators is out of order, and the soundproofing is very poor. It would be fair to mention all these details about the “new” hostel on the website in advance, rather than skillfully photoshopping the pictures. My impressions of the stay were completely ruined — this was by far the most unpleasant experience I have ever had in a hostel. 1/10 and never again.
