The views from the ruined church are quietly inspirational within the natural setting. Looking down on the sea dunes, the reservoir, and of course the Margam country estate. Plus a bit of the steel works and the M4 that is far enough away not to intrude. The ruins themselves benefit from being relatively small and untouched, with access via a steep track through the slopes towards Graig Fawr from near the Abbey Fishpond or via a wider path through groves of Rhododendron bushes coming from the track about 400m north of the pond.

Capel Mair was built circa 1300 by Cistercian monks for the benefit of their local community as a place for them to worship. Local farmers and lay people were not allowed in the grand Margam Abbey which was only for use by the Cistercian Order. Great walks around the area, with some great views, which go down to margam park, there's a small Free car park (about 6 cars)which is called Craig fawr, but be early as this fills up really quick.

Easy but steep climb from the road near Margam Park pond behind margam castle.

A pretty ancient church, dating back to the 14th century and now in a ruined state, with great views overlooking Port Talbot, Margam Park and Swansea Bay beyond. The church is accessible via a number of paths which criss cross the mountain, but probably most easily found by following the main road up the hill and keeping an eye out for a track which goes off to the left as you near the top of the main rise. The church is about 350metres from the road, at the end of an undulating and often muddy track.

After a climb through the woods, the views from the top were stunning! The chaple was quaint, and I was able to take some nice shots.

Short walk but steep so gets the heart going. Nice views and can make the walk longer by making it a circular walk.
