So having a new baby and a deployed husband I decided to let cafe rio feed us tonight and I must say I am very unimpressed. I was charged 13 dollars for 2 corn tortillas filled with lettuce and a few miniscule pieces of steak. I ordered a burrito that was stuffed so full of rice it broke open and now we have a rice bowl. The queso on the nachos just tasted gross like cheap Velveeta or something even my kids wouldn't eat it so after spending $50 I still have hungry kids because apparently a tortilla filled with lettuce wouldn't suffice. Will not be ordering again

The food is good and the staff is great but the manager working here was just openly complaining and berating the employees the entire time I was in line. Update: the service here just keeps getting worse. Today I went in and ordered a meal and asked for a large drink. When they told me they didn't have a large drink I said okay I will skip it. The lady at the register then clearly annoyed with me said it's only a 20 cent difference just buy it. I had to explain to her that the value on a smaller drink is significantly less than that of a large drink due to the cost difference and the quantity. She rolled her eyes at me shook her head and said "whatever". I didn't want to get into just how bad of a value and how overpriced they are. I think I'm done with this place unless there are no other options at the moment. The employees here clearly hate their job and every one of them make sure you know it.

I've been in here many times for delivery orders, and it sickens me every time to see the cashier handling and helping prepare food without washing her hands, without gloves or proper food safety awareness. She then touched the po system, money, then her face, and then back to bagging and touching food and putting herself on the food line like she's a cook. Disgusting!! I would not eat here with all the germs sure to be going around in that kitchen. Sad because the food is good, but not safely handled.

They have been prepping salad shells on the grill way ahead of time. It may be faster to skip heating them with cheese at the time of the order, but it makes for a very cold, tough, gross shell. Then all the bean juice, chicken juice, salad juice, and pico juice settles at the bottom if they just scoop it all without draining first- I couldn’t eat it last time and was told to “assemble the salad toppings separately if I didn’t like the liquid.” Last night, the new person didn’t put beans, rice, or meat in our salad at all. It was just lettuce, pico, chips, and guacamole. We paid for it to go, so unfortunately didn’t know until we were long gone. All our tortillas were completely burned. I just think they are struggling.

The one lady that was helping me was really messy, and had her arm and half her body all over the lettuce and tomato’s. Kinda gross honestly. And she was super messy with the dressings and sour cream, took a awkwardly long time getting sides together, She looked super frazzled and the bathrooms are disgusting. Paper towels and toilet paper all over the floor. I’ve seen gas station bathrooms cleaner than that. They had extra soap and toilet paper on top of the baby station and outside the bathroom there was something spilled and sticky all over the floors the tray station was a complete gross mess and it made me want to wash my hands before I went into my car. Honestly think the Spokane valley location is cleaner and better🤷🏼‍♀️

It only gets 3 stars because of the food, it was good. Our party ate at 5:30. There was only about a dozen people there at the time seated at the tables. I walked the entire dining area to find out there was not one clean table in this place. I made it my job to clean a table for us to sit at. The floors were littered with food and trash. Where the cashier was that floor in the kitchen area was worse yet. The two big garbage cans that I saw were overflowing. I know they were probably understaffed like very place in ths town. They should slow down slinging food and keep up with the cleaning. Both should go hand in hand. I will try again but if not clean I will talk to the manager and leave.

I love Cafe Rio food, but I didn't like the Coeur d'Alene location at all. Though it is larger than most, it wasn't clean and the service was the slowest I have ever encountered, as they catered to the online orders coming in. One shouldn't have to stand in line for a half hour to order food!

Went with my daughter a couple weeks ago. We both had the nachos, wow, large serving, we could have shared one. The food was great along with the self serve drinks.

Do people not get sick here? I mean this very seriously. First off and the least worrisome, no one is wearing hair nets. Secondly and most disturbing, I visually witnessed 4 of the employees touching their faces, hair, and bodies with their gloves and their arms. It is disgusting to watch and no I did not end up ordering any food here. I will be notifying the Health department.

I ordered Barbacoa tacos and rice. The meat was soaked in sauce that tasted like barbecue sauce. If I wanted to have barbecue then I would have ordered from a barbecue restaurant. The rice was Al dente to say the least. I ate one taco because I hadn’t eaten all day, I wish I didn’t. My hands were a mess and drenched all over the lining of the to go box. I actually threw the rest of it in the trash which made me upset because I paid like $16 for 2 tacos and a scoop of Al dente rice!!

Love the food, the staff is undertrained & painfully slow. They ask questions on repeat because they aren't listening and/or are not ready for the info they are asking for. The checkout person is always the most awkward person in the room. Today I was asked if I wanted my receipt. I said yes. He walked away and I grabbed it for myself. I don't expect perfection, I do expect decency and competence.

Dan is the worker that brings me back day to day. I love the food don't get me wrong but Dan has a smile that could warm your heart better than any of the grills there. The food is also amazing because even if you're there 12 minutes before close (accidentally), he'll cook your food to perfection every time. If a higher up sees this review, give Dan a raise or bonus. Whatever he's getting isn't enough!

We had a great experience here! The service was quick, especially for a Friday night. The service was fantastic, they were so friendly and helpful. The food was great, we loved how much meat they give you per entree! Would definitely stop here again if we were in the area!

Cafe Rio Staff are incapable of not smothering everything in cheese! This has been an issue since this location opened up years ago. Unless you proactively tell them "No Cheese" they will smother your food in cheese. In fact, even after telling them there is a 50/50 chance they will still attempt to smother your food in cheese. The number of times I have had to raise my voice and say "Stop! No cheese! No cheese" just to get a dumbfounded, deer in the headlights, stare of shock even though they were told beforehand not to add cheese is astounding. I get it, plenty of people love cheese, and for those that do they probably never have an issue here. I am also aware that the staff probably makes hundreds of meals a day and muscle memory probably takes hold at some point. However, this is a genuine problem and has been a genuine problem for years. Today is a snapping point though as Cafe Rio has removed their "No Cheese" option on Grub Hub and instead replaced it with an add cheese option. That, in it of itself, should not be an issue except, as mentioned, the staff have a penchant either through muscle memory or simply not caring to obliterate anything in their path with cheese. The fact you can no longer specify no cheese means you are basically doomed to have all your delivery meals come with cheese regardless of if you can eat it or not. Normally I would leave this feedback only to Grub Hub as really it's their website. The fact that Cafe Rio has a bad track record of having extreme difficulties not putting cheese on an item however makes this worth saying. Something needs to be done about the presumed desire or built up muscle memory of dropping a block of cheese on every item instinctively. Not everyone enjoys cheese, many can't eat cheese due to either Lactose Intolerance or a Dairy Allergy. The food here is good, great even, when it's prepared accurately however the accuracy leaves something to desire. If they could provide more accurate orders without the pressure of watching food preparation like a hawk and frequently having to shout "No cheese!" even though the preparer knew not to add cheese then it would easily be a 5 star establishment. As it stands, Cafe Rio has a real issue with handling cheese.

Did an online pickup order here. Everything was correct and it went quickly. Food wasn’t very hot- slightly warm. Great food quality and flavor. Got the chips and salsa and they tasted stale though.

First time here & I was pretty impressed. Everything is made fresh daily & their handmade tortillas are so good! Portions are generous & fair for the price. They give samples if you're unsure what to order. The sweet pork is a crowd favorite!

I used to love avocados, after my experience here I can no longer eat them. A bite of avocado here sent me to the restroom where I vomited several times. Didn't finish meal and left. Since even the sight of avocados reminds me of this place and turns my stomach. Perhaps a bad avocado that day but enough to stir me from this place.

The communication here is terrible. Management especially. I applied for a job over a week ago, had the interview and was offered a job. I was told she would call me back. However over a week later, I have called multiple times to get an update and to make sure the welcome letter was sent to the correct email. And the manager continues to tell me "I have to run it by my Gm and then I will give you a call back. It's been well over a week without giving me a call back. And no welcome letter. Why would you offer me employment and then just stop communications?

I did an online order for curbside pickup. I waited in the pickup spot for 45 minutes, No one came to the car and I had to go in and get my food and the wait another 10 minutes. There were about 4 other people that were also upset at the counter. It was a terrible experience the chips I got were extremely old and impossible to eat also horchata I got tasted rotten. Trust me I wish I was over exaggerating at this point. I had kids in the car and that is why I did curbside pickup in the first place. There is no point in offering this and it’s a complete waste of time. Looking at other reviews it doesn’t look like I am the only one that experienced this. This place was good a few years ago. Now I can think of plenty of other places to go for the price. Sent from my iPhone

The food was okay (their tortillas are very good) however this is my second time ordering from them and the second time they missed things In my order. My taco had neither rice nor sour cream, and the burrito had black beans when no beans were requested. The guacamole was also brown (which can be normal) but it tasted as though it had gone bad. Unfortunately I didn't find out until after I put it on my tacos. The staff seemed nice and I'm sure they would fix it had I noticed, however the last thing someone wants to do after picking up dinner is drive back down when I wanted the convince of a takeout order.

I haven't gotten food from here in a little bit, but tonight I had gone in since I had bought gift cards a while back. While being rung up we had issues with the gift cards not loading so the manager comped our meal for us! Everyone in there was super nice the lady and both gentlemen who helped us were awsome.

I have found flies and bugs in my food multiple times. I have heard the same report from others. The cleanliness of the restaurant has definitely declined, which is a real shame. The staff are always nice and get the orders done quick, even when they are short staffed. I hope the cleanliness and food safety of the cda Cafe Rio improves.

We have eaten there before and enjoyed it but not this evening. The whole place was filthy. Not like they had a busy evening but like it had been a long time since anyone wiped anything down. The trash cans were filthy from long term neglect. The floors were filthy. The the soda machine was partially out of order and the special drinks they serve out of machines were not taken care of and leaking. The little bar where they usually have hot sauces was full of bottles that were empty. I was very disappointed because in the past this place was very clean with good food and good service. The manager had better get a hold of this place or it won't be around much longer.

Cafe Rio is my favorite fast food Mexican restaurant. I usually go for the sweet pork burrito or salad, but I loved when they had the spicier hatch chili pork (was only for a limited time). They make the tortillas by hand in the store. Love the mint limeade. I also love the additional hot sauces they keep on hand by the napkins. Sometimes they get so busy the trash bins get pretty full. That's my only bit of criticism.

I have never experienced anything like it! Tortillas and food was basically prepped, prepared and cooked as I watched. The staff even though were extremely busy made me feel as if I was the only customer. They even have somewhat authentic hortchata. I would recommend trying out the Grub Hub delivery service. Neat place good food be prepared to wait.

My Daughter and I and My Grand Daughter went into Cafe Rio and did I get myself in for a treat. We bought two salads with two different kinds of Beans and they loaded them to the top! It was so large that it would have made two meal out of one salad. The Staff knew what they were doing and the Restaurant was neat and clean. Thank You so very much for an Amazing meal.
