Penedo da Saudade. It is said that the Stone of the Winds was the place that Dom Pedro I, then prince, used to visit to mourn the loss of his beloved Dona Inês de Castro (Queen posthumous of Portugal, executed by order of Dom Afonso IV, who did not approve her relationship with the future king). Since 1849, this area, the highest point of the hill, has been a wooded park with a belvedere overlooking the Mondego Valley. Its garden still houses commemorative stone plaques with verses that exalt the longing for the city and the student times of those who passed through the University of Coimbra. If you're curious about what's in the region, take a look at the free audio guide at this link: https://izi.travel/en/c125-coimbra/en I hope you enjoy your time in Coimbra!

Great view at any time of the day. Been here multiple times usually after getting take away to just eat and enjoy the view. Great spot to have an overview of the city of Coimbra.

If you are in Coimbra, you should go there. Easy to get there, only 3 km from the river and spaces to park.

We absolutely love this area. Great views, lots of shade in some areas and it leads to a wonderful green, shaded trail that leads to an area close to the back of the Alma Shopping center.
