We have turned into our parents in the sense of having Indian food 1-2 times during our vacations. While on our one night layover in beautiful Coimbra we found this gem and we weren’t disappointed. Hearty servings and friendly staff! Would recommend to anyone.

This is a little diamond in the rough, we did not expect to find this lovely and very secluded Indian restaurant as the main cuisine but, also offering Italian food as an alternative, "Lucky" the owner ( short for Luckvit) is fantastic host and made us feel very welcome. The chicken Biryani I had was absolutely tasty I could choose my heat as in chilli heat, I went for medium and it was brilliant, Anna had Chicken and Mushrooms in a garlic and ginger sauce again very tasty. I had a garlic Naan with condiments again very tasty, overall presentation brilliant!! Good table service. This place has an upstairs part to it, where it can cater for much larger groups with ample space clean and a bar service also available. We give this restaurant 5 stars as it ticks all the boxes. Oh and we noticed they do a takeaway service but in the Coimbra area only!! Bon appetit to those who venture in this little gem ❤️❤️🙏

Wonderful restaurant, very welcoming staff, delicious vegan food and an huge offer of plant based dishes! The hard part is actually what options to choose 🤗Totally recommend it to all vegans and vegetarians that visit the beautiful city of Coimbra !

Great Indian food - not too strong, surprising flavours. I would go into different variants of chicken and shrimp curry, like Chicken Madras - delicious. They adjusted the spiciness for our kids. The staff is nice and they served us very quickly. Typical indian ambience but with plenty of space and light. Affordable prices.

The best Indian food we’ve had! The owner is very attentive and welcoming. The food is absolutely delicious with many choices for a range of diets and preferences.

While the flavour of the Palak Paneer is not the most authentic we’ve had outside of India, it was pretty decent for Portugal’s standard. Our favourite was the cheese naan and the lassi was good too.

Fantastic food! Very accommodating for those with food allergies. The chef made excellent gluten free and dairy free food. The server was excellent and spoke English for us visitors.

The service at Taj Indian punjabi Restaurant was exceptional, with attentive staff who were eager to explain the dishes and offer recommendations. They made sure that every detail was taken care of, ensuring a memorable dining experience. I will definitely recommend you to dine in this restaurant. Interesting flavors, different from what we are used to. The sweet tamarind sauce was a really nice touch. The portions size is ok, even generous. The staff are friendly too!

Very delicious plates! Butter chicken was superb and the sauces offered with the naan have particular and mouthwatering tastes. Friendly staff, clean and fast service. Will be visiting again for sure.

Authentic Punjabi food in the heart of Coimbra. Service was fast and food was hot. We ate on the patio and were delighted. I had the boar and my wife the chicken tikka masala. Excellent - highly recommend. Good value at 48 euro with 1/2 bottle of wine , 2 shared appetizers , 2 mains and a shared dessert.

It was a pleasant surprise. The staff is very friendly and the food is very tasty, good tamarind sauce and the portions are also generous. I definitely recommend and would like to visit again. The best Indian restaurant in Coimbra

We read some of the reviews, and they are CORRECT! The food was incredible. We have been to Indian in the UK, US (many cities), and Taj rivals all of the best Indian we have had. We are thrilled that it's only a 10 min walk from our rental!

Absolutely fabulous! The food was first class, the service friendly and courteous and the prices reasonable. Great value for money, with good-sized portions. For vegetarians and vegans, there is an extensive choice, and we were asked how hot/spicy we wanted our food. I've been to a lot of Indian restaurants in my life, and this one ranks right up there with the best. Miss out on this gastronomical treat at your peril.

Delicious food, delicious wine, good prices. There are many vegetarian dishes. You can choose how spicy the dish is, but remember that it’s Indian Restaurant so it might be very very spicy! Went there 2 times and will come back for more! Tikka Masala is great ❤️
