It’s a very typical restaurant in Portugal, where you can find simple and tasty food for a fair price. The portions are good and the staff was friendly (this is a highlight, because this isn’t very common in similar places). The white wine is a must have, really good and fresh. Worth it. There is only a few tables available, so around the lunch time there is a huge line forming up, it’s better to get there early. Overall was a nice experience!

It was OK, and very small indeed so you have to come early or wait in line. No reservations and cash only! We ordered the pork with potatoes and the grilled octopus also with potatoes. I liked the marinade and the sauces, but both octopus and pork cutlet were quite chewy. Desserts were yummy, but only 2 choices that day. Also very irritating to be seated next to the toilet. Clean kitchen, wacky decor and a friendly host. Low prices.

Awesome food and friendly staff. Keep in mind that you should be there at least 30-40min before opening if you want to eat in as there are only 6 tables. Otherwise you have to wait until a table is free. Anyway, was worth the wait. The portions are huge and the prices are awesome

Here at the end of December and able to get in right away around 13:00 but a small line up came behind us. Be ready to wait at least 15 minutes during off season. There are only 6 tables. The owner/waiter was very friendly. He joked and laughed with all customers. When he brought dishes to the table he made a point to explain the dish and the traditional/proper way of eating it. We had 2 (half portion) dishes between the two of us and it was A LOT of food. One dish probably would have been enough. My favorite of the two was the Feijoada boar. Amazing flavors!

Unique and very particular restaurant in Coimbra, serving OUTSTANDING traditional Portuguese cuisine. It's quite a famous restaurant, it doesn't accept reservations, so get ready for the queue. We had to wait about an hour and a half, but it was absolutely worth. The food is something serious here, everything was perfect, well seasoned, not too salty, just perfect. It's a proper definition of comfort food, home made food that makes you feel at home. There is a very welcoming atmosphere, all the staff were very friendly and cheerful. They seemed passionate about their job. Great place with great people. A must in Coimbra. Highly recommended.

Unique and very particular restaurant in Coimbra, serving traditional Portuguese cuisine. It's quite a famous restaurant, they don’t accept reservations, so get ready for the queue!!! The food is something serious there and you have to try the ossos(the bones ). It was tasty and well seasoned. All the staff were very friendly and cheerful. They seemed passionate about their job. But be ready for a small place with too much noise!!! Recommend for once to try it :)

It’s quite a small restaurant but we love everything about it, from the decorations to food and service. The food taste so good, and the portions are big. The chafana is so tender and the meat falls off the bones. I was a little skeptical when ordered the pork chop but surprisingly it was also so tender and well seasoned. People there are very friendly and Dow to earth. The guy even explained to us how we should eat the pork and rice. It’s definitely one of my favorites in Portugal ir Coimbra so far and we will definitely go back more often

Best meal we had in Portugal. Delicious, simple, cheap, and unique. Go early; we arrived 30 mins before it opened and there were already 2 parties before us. By the time it opened, there was a long line, and they have limited seats! The service was friendly and quick. the waiter stopped us from over-ordering and gave great recommendations. We had the bones and boar ribs which came with tomato rice stew. We ordered half servings of everything and were full for 2 people. All that + wine came up to 25euros. Please note they only take cash.

Good food but not worth waiting over 30 minutes. I would recommend to get the white the house white wine with the goat stew. I waited an hour for this but it was because I got seated in the second round of seating. So I think if you walk past it and get the opportunity to get seated first, it is definitely worth trying. But if you're going to have to wait over 30 minutes I would say go check out other restaurants and cornbread because there are also other very tasty options here. House white wine was so worth it

Staff is freindly, the food is very good. I storngly recommend to try. We were there little before the opening time, the tables were almost full. Seems like there are waitings on the weekends for sure.

A true hidden gem. We met with a local and she suggested that we enjoy a meal here. We arrived before they opened and a line quickly formed behind us. We were warmly welcomed. The food is so fabulous. We enjoyed the bones (Ossos), pork belly, beans and rice and chocolate mousse. The staff knows what they are doing and the place is packed with locals. The cost of our meal was extremely reasonable. We will be back to enjoy the food here again.

Best food in Coimbra. Small place, doesn’t make reservations, be there 15 mins before open. Also, must try Manel’s wine.

I was in Portugal for a 10 day trip and this was the best dinner of the trip, no contest. Small restaurant but friendly owner that speaks English. Everyone there was a local and very friendly! Usually you need to wait at least a half hour to wait for a table for 2 or 4. Parties of 5 or more will need a longer time. Ossos, octopus and pork belly were all fantastic!

Awesome finding in Coimbra! Follow the Google maps directions and you'll find the restaurant. We arrived at 2:30pm without a booking and they still accepted to serve us. We ordered half osso and half feijoada de javali. That was more than enough for the two of us. Service was great and the food delicious, I really recommend if you're in Coimbra and would like to try some traditional food. One small detail is that they don't accept payment using credit card.

Best restaurant in Coimbra, very tasty and great value (less than €10pp). Very small space, recommended to queue a few minutes before opening time. Totally worth the wait

Lovely atmosphere. We went for the dourada instead of the house specialty meat plate and yet we were not disappointed. We had to wait around half an hour to get in but we soon forgot about that.

This is a gourmet hole in the wall in Coimbra. They specialize in grilled and pan seared meat and fish with delicious sauce. Skip the appetizers and go straight into the Ossos (the slow braised pork bones). A half portion is plenty to share between 4 people as a starter. We loved, loved, loved the grilled pork belly with garlic vinegar and olive oil sauce. It comes with rice and beans. You will be instructed to top the rice and beans with pork belly and sauce . The umami sauce makes everything A-MAZING! Any dishes after seems to fall short even though they are outstanding in their own right. We had veal with potato and spinach last. I'd switch the order and have the veal b4 pork belly next time. We arrived at noon, and were 2nd in line. The restaurant opens at 12:30 for lunch. Only 6 tables inside. This is a gastro experience not to be missed when in Coimbra.

Always a line up, seems to only do two seatings per night. Delicious but be ready for the meat sweats! Large portions . Fun and very different atmosphere!

Very small, charming and 100% worth it. Not only were we treated like we’ve been here 1000 times but the food was absolutely delicious and the host gave us several recommendations and then showed us how best the food was enjoyed. Cannot recommend it enough!

We waited about 40+ min to get seated. They got about 3 small tables on the first floor and 7 small tables upstairs. Food was amazing and portions are BIG. We got Ossos and rice/bean and pork combo? Well seasoned and cooked! Wish we had ordered a salad to go with the meat. We also noticed they will randomly pair you up with other parties. So come open minded! Good idea to bring snacks for your wait 😂 The host/waiter will work with you when you order. And do not forget their house white wine. Bathroom is very very old. Overall, a very unique experience for some cheap comfort food.

This place is very very cool. The food is super tasty and the owner is the master of the room. First come, first served so be mindful to come early or come the day after.
