Highwoods is a great country park with meadows, forest areas, a lake and play park. Highly recommend visiting for walks and great with kids / dog.

Nice walks. Different routes to choose. Can easily spend a couple of hours walking. River and lake, benches to sit down. Make sure you have the right shoes as even if it wasn't raining, it was pretty muddy at places. Parking was £1 for 2h and right by it coffee shop with some snacks and toilets.

Highwoods country Park is a vast area covered with woods including large variety of trees & plants, and birds & animals like squirrels, deers, cows. There is a paid parking facility and toilets near to the visitor centre near to the entrance. Lots of people interested in angling spend time catching fishes from the pond. Nice & calm place, suitable for long walks with pets. Thoroughly enjoyed the visit.

Really nice walks. Lovely big area for children to tire themselves out in. Saw deer, woodpeckers, squirrels and lots of little birds. Unfortunately some areas are a bit run down, namely the lake which was full of rubbish with rats and the children's play areas.

Absolutely stunning nature forest park! Autumn is just beautiful here. Our first visit, definitely not the last. The lady in the visitor centre was so lovely, friendly. Great place for kids. Can't wait for the new playground to open soon.

Hadn't visited for a few years and forgot how beautiful this Park is. Lovely area to walk our dogs especially in the autumnal sunshine.

Really spacious and hilly park with playgrounds for the little ones. Good place to feed the ducks on the lake as well.

There are open areas and wooded areas. We didn't see a playground area but we weren't looking for one. Our children looked for birds, bugs and fungus, and vegetation around the stream. The lake area is interesting we can find ducks, door mice, fish jumping out the water, people fishing and things I forgot about. Dogs are expected to be on a lead around the lake to avoid them swimming in the lake. They're is a restroom in the visitors center but it's only open between 8:30 & 16:30. We visited the be park twice, the first time was on a really warm day, the wooded area gave us respite from the heat. The seconds time, the wooded area sheltered us from the rain. The children loved it and be we had a pleasant walk. Well with it.

This is a family fun place. It's also good for regular exercise in the form of walks and running for keeping fit. The cafe will provide refreshments. With places to sit and admire the views. Children can have a whale of a time. Might need the wellies!!

Our dog loves this place. Some good walks. There is somewhere to get a drink and eat if you want. Toilet facilities are near the car park. There is a playground for children and a picnic area. You have to pay to park.

Lovely park with nice walks, a lake where you can fish under licence but you have to put the fish back. There are toilets that are clean and a cafe of sorts both shut at 4 30 pm. They could do more with the cafe as only canned drinks and ices from a fridge. This Lovely park is just across the road from the Primary care centre and a short walk to the Colchester General hospital, at one pound for two hours parking a great way to while away the time whilst waiting to.pick up friends visiting the hospital. More could be done with the cafe, which could make a great afternoon tea etc. If you want water to drink it comes Al the way from Austria in a can, not sure why we cannot have water from the UK.

What a beautiful place to walk and spend time in. The oak trees are beautiful and the buttercup and wild flower grass lands are so pretty. I really loved it! The bird song shows that there is an abundance of wildlife also. Really really lovely, and definitely going to visit again.

Absolutely beautiful place, brilliant for a walk. There's a lake with a large open grass area. You can find sculptures along the paths. There is also a playground area with some good equipment. I believe there is an allotment area too.

Beautiful place to visit for a long walk or just for a picnic. Vast open spaces for ball games etc. Children will love it. Small visitor centre where food and ice cream can be purchased. Large carpark and toilets. Children's play area and a communal garden as well. It would be easy to spend many hours here. So much to see and do.

Nice place to visit for a stroll on a Sunday. Plenty of friendly people around and lots of lovely dogs to see. There is a lack of bins, though. Plenty at the entrance, but around the trails there aren’t any at all. I found a piece of glass at the beginning of my walk and still had it at the end due to not finding a bin… God only knows what the dog walkers do when they pick up deposits.

We live fairly close so come here a lot! Great for walking/ running/ cycling/ dog walking! Some lovely views and secret places to find in the woods. Looks lovely in spring with lots of bluebells. Picnic by the lake and see the fish and ducks.

Parking was easy. Surprised that toilets are locked at 4.30 in the summer. Nice walks, fishing lake. Really disappointed that with the school summer holidays starting the play areas are still closed and not expected to reopen until the end of the year.

Wonderful massive park with lots of walks and a super visitors centre with gifts / drinks/ ice creams. Touchy table for little ones and plenty of toys for dogs if u have forgotten yours!! Car parking is very reasonable at the visitors centre . Staff are lovely and polite. Clean everywhere and a beautiful lake to sit and enjoy. Park for children and lots more on the way for the future.
