Delkanda
is
one
of
the
busiest
junctions
in
Colombo.
One
reason
for
it
is
that
via
this
junction,
one
can
access
many
major
towns;
if
you
go
straight
up,
you
will
approach
Nugegoda,
through
which
Kirulapone,
and
then
greater
Colombo
lies.
To
the
left
is
Rattanapitiya,
Boralesgamuwa,
Piliyandala
and
Kesbewa.
To
the
right,
again,
via
Nueggoda,
one
can
reach
Nawala,
Rajagiriya,
and
Borella
further
on.
You
are
coming
from
Maharagama
and
Homagama
side,
in
this
case.
The
town
of
Delkanda
itself
has
many
amenities;
Delkanda
Sunday
โpolaโ
or
market
is
very
popular
although
now
itโs
moved
to
a
place
in
Rattanapitiya,
not
far
but
walking
distance
from
the
junction.
There
are
schools,
several
supermarkets
(Keells
in
Gamsabha
junction,
two
Cargills,
Glomark
and
Laugfs
down
the
Gamsabha
junction
road,
towards
Pepiliyana),
Salons
(La
Passion,
Cutsโฆ)
etc.
The
Highelvel
Plaza
in
the
junction
itself
carries
a
post
office
and
the
Nugegoda
Land
Registry.
There
are
also
many
shops
within
that
building.
Traffic
can
get
very
hectic
in
the
morning
and
evening
hours.
