Best vegetarian restaurant I went and enjoyed great food. There light tea (Majority fresh milk with hint of tea) was so delicious and I will definitely order it again whenever I visited this place for nice lunch. Also the customer service is nice and fast.

Located in Bampalapitiya. It's an Veg restaurant. The foods are very tasty 😋 and maintain well. Very crowded restaurant. Needs to take the orders in one counter and after pay the payment in another counter finally needs to go to another counter to get handover the paid bill to prepare our food. All varieties of veg foods available and they provide cow 🐄 milk 🥛 as take away format just for 90Rs, two cups of milk in that pack with one day cup. It's also very good in taste.

Update: Try their kurakkan dosa. I loved it with sambar I have always enjoyed visiting this restaurant for its light tea, which is usually served with thick milk and a layer of milk skin on top, along with a hint of tea. However, I was slightly disappointed the last time I went there, as the milk was not thick enough and there was no milk skin at all. I still appreciate the taste and quality of the tea, but I hope they will bring back the original recipe with pure milk. Apart from the tea, I also like their paper dosa, which is a thin and crispy crepe made of rice and lentils. It is served with various chutneys and sambar, which are spicy and flavourful sauces. The dosa is very filling and satisfying, and I always order it with the light tea. Another dish that I recommend is their bonda, which is a deep-fried snack made of potato and gram flour. It is crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, and it goes well with the coconut chutney. The bonda is a perfect appetizer or snack for any occasion. Overall, this restaurant is a great place to enjoy authentic South Indian cuisine at a reasonable price. The service is friendly and efficient, and the ambience is cosy and comfortable. I would definitely visit again and try more dishes from their menu

This is a pure vegetarian food heaven. Everything is super tasty and fresh. People help with generous serving. All curries are exceptionally tasty- we especially enjoyed a typical green chilli curry and okra fry (all a part of madras meal) with a big helping of rice. And milk sweets + kesari. We asked for curd as it wasn’t part of thali. We also ordered parota (2 parota / parantha served with chutneys, a gravy dish and rasam)- all was tasty. Got some mixture and sweets packed. A ll exceptionally tasty.

Good vegetarian restaurant, not up scale but good quality food and great taste. Has been in the industry for a long time and is a general household name. Value for money, clean but don't expect great service. Food is best eaten fresh, hot and crispy when you dine in, but limited space for dine in options, especially at peak times. If you come with a group or family , they have better seating upstairs. Pro tip - pre-order your items for quick takeaway when you come.

Saraswathie Lodge has been in this location for decades. I remember coming here as a kid with my dad. Food is great and it's quite clean. They have dining facilities upstairs as well.

It's a staple of Colombo city landscape. Quite an old establishment and they do serve solid Tamil vegetarian food for the masses. Ground floor dining area is small but you will find another in upstairs. Staff is attentive and service is very fast. As expected in a similar establishment it's a no nonsense eatery. You order and you will be served soon and you are expected to leave soon as well. Food is as authentic as it gets and they are delicious. Also they have a nice collection of Tamil sweets. Parking is available at road side

This is one of the best place to have an Indian vegetarian meal in the Colombo. This place is not a fancy or extravagant but you can feel the taste of their vegetarian meal. They offer a wide variety of Indian food and serve only vegetarian meals. Finally the place is nice and clean.

Nice vegetarian food. But it would be amazing if they could use gloves. Not cloth ones tho!!!! Cuz the fact that they throw one vadai from one table to another is very unhygienic even when there's no gloves. Also please know to wear the mask over the nose. It may be easy to breathe to wear the mask below the nose but whats the point then????? Please don't put people in risk. Wear the mask OVER the nose!!

Spicy fragrance all over the car... meal was hot and fresh when we reached home. But a Bit mashed up because of the pack... mixed it with the masala sambar curry. How wrong can you get with a Masala Dosai or vegetarian food? Certainly not in the class of eating in a veg restaurant in India. However it will do for us Sri Lankans ..especially if you remember eating here in one's school days and running away without paying the bill!! The memories live on. The foods the same. One of the best places to eat a quick south Indian snack or meal. Nowadays it's not that tasty. Removed 2 stars for lack of parking and due to the fact that the payments could only be done from cash.

This was a great joint of yesteryear but today it has become ordinary. Having stood 12 minutes more, waiting for the doors to open on schedule at 6.30 I asked the steward as to what time they do open doors. Without hesitation he said that, This is the normal time ! May be that is the standard that they maintain. The Paper Dosa was hot and crispy but the 2 chutneys had little of flavours to offer.

This is the first time i tried from Saraswathi Lodge. I ordered Special Masala Dose Its just Rs. 565. That is awesome. They gave 3 curries. The curry portion is too large and the whole meal is enough for one person. Keep it up and always try to maintain the value to customer!

Great place for a south indian food. Dhoosa and bonda to be their best sellers. Clean and fast. Bought ghee dhoosa, got a large potion and with good coating of ghee. 9/10. Bonda with tomato chutney is really tasty.

Value for money with taste. Packed area during peak times. During lunch, some affordable items are not available/sold out. They change prices during inflation instantly. Hope they bring down prices when inflation goes down, too. Parking is a challenge, and unregulated CMC Parking fees are applicable.

Omgg the worst place when it comes to cleanliness, please do not visit it during these days coz they won't even sanitize their tables after each customer. The food is cold. Feels yucky to eat when you see those dirty floors.

I ordered rice and curry, but the plate I was served appeared to have not been washed in a long time. I noticed black residue in the corners of the plate, which was quite concerning. Staff here also have don't care attitude except a girl.

Love this place! The food is simple and consistently great. The service is generally very enthusiastic. When everything is crazy expensive, it's good to have a place in the city that you can eat at without overspending.
