This place offer range of Indian and Chinese vegetarian foods. Upstairs they have made as family dining area with air conditioning. Seats are not comfortable it's bit high and hard. We ordered: Poori set - it was good portion it comes with Samar, potato Baji (know flavours at all and useless), two varieties of coconut chutneys. LKR 520 they charged for this. Chilly Parat - portion size is average, poor flavours and worth for price. It comes with onion raita. LKR 550 they charged for this. I don't recommend. Wada - before we place the order checked with them can we get hot hot wada and we got as it is. Really crispy and well cooked with flavours. First time ever we got wada without chutney at Shri Vani Vilas. LKR 190 per pcs. Service is average, need to be improved. Their price is mid range.

The best 'Ulundu Vadai' I came across is in South India, undoubtedly. Here in Sri Lanka the best 'Ulundu Vadai' comes from Sri Vani Vilas Hotel, especially when it is served Hot Hot. The Sambol accompaniment they serve is just as classy as their Vadais. Probably 'Ulundu Vadai' is their Number One product, as you will observe every person in the restaurant having one on their plate, irrelevant of what their other orders are as to Rice, String hoppers, Parata, Dosai, Iddily or any other items. The Stewards are very friendly and helpful too.

Good place to try south indian food, tasty and generous portion sizes. It can get crowded sometimes and service would be bit iffy but overall it was a good experience.

The taste of their food is amazing I have recently ordered their biriyani . It comes with papadam and some gravy that’s vegetarian. It’s delicious but I hope it better to add more salt and on the gravy . Other than that it’s safely packed and can manage for 2 people.

Bit overpriced, but authentic. So can't complain. Food was great with zero hesitation. I wish they had more soft drink options, but this is an Indian restaurant, what did you expected 😂 I'm the idiot for looking up soft drinks in an Indian spot. It was a nice experience with family. The 1st floor restaurant was great. Yes price is bit high but we have enjoyed the meal what all we have ordered. Also they need to work on customer service as i have noticed it took around 10mins reached us, since we entered the restaurant. Also some ordered meal has arrived a bit late. Number one Indian food restaurant in Sri Lanka. Vegetarian foods available with great taste. Can taste a best quality dose and vade at this hotel. But no parking space near the hotel need to find a place to park and no safety parking space near the hotel. Any way recommend as a top vegetarian hotel in Colombo municipal Council area

Looks like untidy! Just bought 4 ulundu wades and the color looked terrible with full of oil and even the inside part there were many onion peels inside the batter 👀! Taste is just 20% and bought mini jelebis even that tasted like boondhi only sugary taste! Not fresh and good! Laddus were eatable! But the ulundu wade isn't ! Will not visit again🙌🏻 Ananda Bavan is way better than this!

Used to be one the best South Indian diners in Colombo, but it has lost its spark. The taste is lost. Hospitality zero. Customer Service should definitely be better. Hygiene absolutely zero.

Shri Vani Vilas is always our first option over the generations, We have been always treated well from the period of our Grandparents to present; and it never disappoints. From the starter to the dessert the quality and tastes of everything was outstanding, Vadaa, Parotta, Ghee Dosaa might have been the best meal I have ever been served. Service was delightful and very professional.

Best Indian food in the area. This is an famous and old restaurant with authentic Indian food. Masala dosa, puri, alu bonda, veg biryani are the best. They constantly keep their quality unlike many other places. Family dining area is in upstairs.

Vegetarian food place. Much crowded in busy hours. Foods are great. They have delivery also through telephone call they will deliver to the house. Dine in also possible but at lunch overs and after lunch ours this place is very crowded despite having enough space to more than hundred people. It is not possible to get a whole table to you at that time. The staff is friendly and at crowd times you may have to remind few times about your order.

Very good place to eat your any meal of the day. It's a North and south Indian restaurant and it's a vegetarian restaurant. Price is moderate and yet foods are so delicious and you will not regret. Place is bit old now and upper floor is air conditioned and made like family restaurant. If toilet is more cleaner and and seat are good I can give 5 starts.

My dad brought dosa and ulundu Wade from this restaurant and in both dosa and Wade had stones in it. We couldn't chew them properly and some we had to throw away. Very very poor quality food 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻🤬🤬🤬

Had a great very tasteful meal from here. I enjoyed nice masala dosa from this place actually it was cheap and very tasteful beyond exceptional. I went there with my friend and we enjoyed to Masala Dosa which cost only 500 rupees. Definitely one dosa is enough for one person and it's much larger then nearby competitors.. most of the services were provided by lady waitresses and they are very friendly and helpful and supportive to customers.

Once this was an iconic place to get Indian food in Colombo , but now the place is utter junk. The quality of food is decorating by the day and the waiters are country brutes whose only intention is to pester off tips. They have absolutely no idea of how to treat customers.

Last Two months I have been experiencing a dramatic change that recalls some old memories, that I had with Shri Vani Villas. The food wasn't been pleasant for years, even I couldn't recall for how long it has been such worse, poor grade, inferior and no value for money, and I thought of no longer hope to experience the real taste like old times. But I was wrong. Last two months I have been experiencing a new change, the food was as good as it was use to be. Thank you for bringing back some pleasant memories. As a food critic it is our duty to bring the bitter to light and make others realize the unavoidable truth. Even though we criticize a change of reality should be appreciated. As such, whomever have done this new change have done it exquisitely. Continue doing so. Look forward for pleasant meal.

They serve extremely tasty foods. Can be in the top 5 vegetarian places in Colombo. Only minus is that they don't have a menu for takeaways. And when you ask someone for the prices, they usually don't respond well

One of the best places in Colombo for Indian food such as Thosai, wadai, including Bombay sweets.

When I enter there, it was really crowded and I bit hesitated to enter due to Covid.But however I went there and it takes 10 minutes to receive the meal.I found a stone in Dosa and the experience is horrible.The staff is also not friendly as they think we use their money or free of charge.Prices of foods are also expensive.But as a plus point, they give only the amount you need to eat as to keep away from unwanted germs.
