This is a very famous Buddhist temple in Panadura. It was built in 1810 and then it was called as Galkanda Viharaya. In 1890 it was renamed as "Rankoth Viharaya". The shrine room is very beautiful and all the walls have wall paintings on them. Eminent English poet and scholar Sir Edwin Arnold had visited the temple in 1886 whence he discussed the idea to restore the Buddhagaya back to Buddhists. #LetsRecordMonuments

This is one of the oldest and most beautiful temples in Panadura. It's worth visiting here. Please consider wearing white color clothes that are comfortable and not too tight clothes when visiting Buddhist temples in Sri Lanka.

This is NOT a foreigner- friendly temple. There is NO monk in it. It’s run by local ‘gangsters’ . There are in-temple dogs which don’t bark but DO bite. It occurred that foreigners were bitten. Be careful!

It's one of the oldest temples in Panadura. You can locate it at your right hand side of the road when moving towards Galle, after passing the Pnadura clock tower junction.

Calm place. You can find architecture related to english era. There are steps around 30 for upper part in temple. Think about this when taking disable people. There is small car park infront of the temple and bigger one in behind. To find the behind one you need to go around the road.
