Sad day for the public and families that used to enjoy this public beach. It is being taken over illegally by a private influential person and being used for their own personal gain. We have used this public beach for many many years including our parents and grand parents. They say once they block the public beach access road the illegal owner will charge us a fee to enter the beach which is free for the public. To park we have to pay another fee where its free for the public. The food stall on the beach which have been there for year have to pay a rental fee and commision on sales to this new illegal owner to sell on the public beach where they had remained for so many years. Outside food and drink won't be allowed to be brought to the public beach and have to be purchased only from the hotel.How can land which has been used by the public for so many years be taken over by a private person. There was no tender or public notice for anyone else to bid or request the land and it was given secretly to a connected person. How can anyone block or restrict a public beach access road? How can anyone restric use of a public beach? They mine sand from the beach sell it and build a hotel then block the public beach with containers and build walls and boundaries inside while the authorities watch and the the public loses their favourite beach spot.

Safe place to have a sea bath. But very polluted water. Not recommended for bat. Lot of familyies were there. Safe to bath with kids. There was navy camp too. No problem with the protection. But there was no life guards there. There was few shops where you can buy some sea foods such as crabs, prawns , fried fish Not only those things it is able to buy some soft drinks , ice - creams , rotee , wade like foods too. It will be easy with a private vehicle or with a taxy. Public transport is not so good. The best thing is can watch wonderful sunset. Thank you

Crowded in holidays, there are shattered bottles in swimming area, so be careful when you're swimming. Very polluted water, Average Parking area in entrance, you can try fried fish for evening snack.

Not a good place as a beach. One of the worst beach in Sri Lanka I guess. The crowd is also not good most of them come here to for getting drunk. Huts which sells food there are also not up to the standard. Overall this is not a place for your family and kids.

Visited the place during morning hours and it was a lovely place to have a peaceful and relaxing morning. More crowd starts to come by evening hours. Beach was very clean.

Really nice beach, has natural barriers and artificial ones so tide is minimum, but beach is dirty. Would have been an amazing beach if wasn't for plastic and remains of food wrappings. So sad to see some low level Sri Lankans destroying these kind of beautiful landmarks.

Good Clam place out of colombo . You can sea the Colombo Port and a endless horizon view through the bends in the beach . Go and enjoy it you only live once 🙂
