Came in for a late lunch and had a great experience! We both ordered the special which was a southwest chicken salad. It hit the spot! Our bartender, Caryn, was so sweet and kept the drinks flowing. I love the feel of Planks. Lots of regulars. Yhe inside has a lot of character and the outside patio is big and covered so you can be out there year round. I am excited to come back and try more of the menu!

Our sever was fantastic but that’s really the only positive thing I have to say. Food was just ok, nothing special and the draft beer was extremely overpriced. I was really excited to come here but was really disappointed. Hopefully other customers have a better experience.

I'm a sucker for old school bars with strong drinks and bar food. Great bar menu from nachos, fried food and pizza that will not disappoint. Dan was a great bartender, we appreciate the attention. Downtown columbus bar with a local feel, you can tell its well established.

Food was great. Gotta get the Pizza! Awesome atmosphere for watching a few games! Clean bathrooms.

A surprisingly large bar and bier garten located in the heart of German Village. This spot can cater to many different styles of patrons. Bring a large group and sit out on their enclosed patio to watch a game on one of their many tvs, or sit at a high top inside for a more intimate date. They have numerous drink options with a rotating tap list, not to mention delicious pub food. I had THE BEST buffalo chicken pizza ever here (pictured). During the summer, get here early because the patio fills up quick.

My husband and I are tourists in Columbus and have been living living here for 2 months . After a busy day we were thinking about the place where we can enjoy the food fully and the main thing was to find tasty beer. We saw this place but we were hesitating cause it was 20 minutes away from us . We ordered fish and chips , German bratwurst and pirogi as we are from Russia and we have similar dish in our cuisine ))) also we took two beers. The beer was served just in 2 minutes and it was very very tasty . Honestly we were very hungry and were worried about the food . Surprisingly , in 5 minutes all our plates were just right on the table! The size of each of them was amazing! Very big! Pirogi were very good with potatoes , bacon and fried onion. Bratwursts were incredible and especially the potatoes sides! And the last was delicious fish and chips with just best fries and salad ! For girls I want to recommend EBC blueberry wheat !!! All in all, so far it’s the best place in Columbus for us ! Believe us, we’ve visited a bunch of them!

Great spot to grab dinner, so many options to choose from. Pizza, burgers, brats. Parking can be a little tricky if they are busy. The service is great!

The atmosphere was great for a mid day lunch on a Saturday. Not too many people around 3, although it did start to get busy around 4 as we were leaving. The waitress, Abby, was fantastic and super friendly. The food was great, I want to bring back my husband tomorrow so he can try it (not because I want to try more things of course lol). We had the saurkraut balls as an appetitzer and everyone loved them. I had a Ruben which was delicious. Two children split a small Hawaiian pizza, which was also good and cheesy. My daughter loved her nachos and my dad loved his German potato salad and sausage.

Awesome American Corner Pub atmosphere. We loved the beer choices and the food looked amazing. We stopped in for drinks.

Pasta chicken pizza and salad... fantastic!

Sat outside on patio, it is enclosed during cooler, colder months. It is a spacious, friendly, clean atmosphere. Service is excellent. There is a variety of food on their menu. I've had the turkey club, which is really good. My sisters love the pizza. Their parking lot is not very big, but there is parking along the street and alley. I would recommend this restaurant location.

Beautiful day to sit outside and feast. Food was delicious. Has ballgames on if you wanted to watch.

The food was really good and honestly really affordable for what you get. It's a seat-yourself style restaurant, which is fine, but there were no signs indicating this. My friend and I had to ask someone if we should seat ourselves, and she said yes. The wait staff was really friendly and impressively quick. They seemed to have a solid beer list (but I'm not a beer drinker so don't quote me on that).

Visited Planks for a quick drink and we were right away impressed with the friendliness of the staff! The beer was cold, suggestions on point and pretzels DELICIOUS!!!! We enjoyed the simplicity of the atmosphere, the shared history of the place and the people. Planning to visit again!

This place is great. We had fast service and the food is good, not high priced and the people rhat work there are pleasant. This one is the best out of the 3 planks. Sorry Tom still like your place

Ridiculously good. We found this place on a whim after the first restaurant we tried was not as family friendly as anticipated. So glad we did! There was nothing we tried that we didn’t like. Highlights were the buttery soft pretzels, crispy fish and chips, and a short rib grilled cheese sandwich that literally melted in my mouth. I already can’t wait to visit Columbus again.

I might visit Plank's Bier Garten a couple of times a year. This most recent visit was on par with the standard 'meh' service we typically receive and the bad parking options, but this time it didn't stop with subpar service; they also had the seating inside of the restaurant closed except for the bar during a very busy weekend day. This was around noon on a Saturday during June, also during softball season where teams from Berliner frequent the restaurant between games. When asked why they had no inside seating, they quoted it was because of short staffing. We had to split our party between the bar and outside seating. Those who were sensitive to temperature sat at the bar, the rest had to sit outside. The outside seating was hot, stuffy, and very crowded. The experience was not pleasurable at all. Service was not remarkable in the slightest. The food was good, but not worth the apparent hassle we were causing the staff, nor sacrificing our comfort for.

Been here a few times and every time has been great. Staff is super authentic (not overly nice, just "real"). Food is super good and a pretty decent value. Atmosphere is great. Bar area is very "neighborhood bar" feel. Indoor patio area is spacious and chill. Probably my favorite "bar pizza" (gluten) in town generally. Crust is thin and crispy, but not too thin and still a little chew. But hands down the best gluten free pizza I've ever had period. Like seriously it might even be better than the gluten version! (I'm intolerant, not celiac, so tried a little of the regular...but LOVED the gluten free)

I always order a meatless sub. And it is perfectly made. The onion rings are delicious. All the food is good. Place looks great. Nice staff.

I absolutely LOVE their house salad, their pizza which has thin crust and sweet sauce- it's amazing! Pretzel bites, everything! I've never ordered anything here that I didn't like. I'm a vegetarian and I'm able to find fulfilling menu items. Great atmosphere. Great service. Great food. Reasonable prices. I definitely recommend!

Usually we really love going to planks because their food is good for the price and typically the service is fast and good. However, our most recent experience was very lacking in customer service. I have been working in customer service (specifically the hospitality industry) for the past 18 years and know what it’s like to deal with customers on a daily basis. That said, you still have to show up to your job and do the job you’re paid for and at the very least show a moderate level of respect for your PAYING guests… After all, that is how you make your money. Tonight, my family and I were sitting on their covered patio, trying to enjoy a dinner, but the music was so overpoweringly loud that we couldn’t even hear each other over it. We asked several times to turn the music down and we’re told that because it was trivia night they weren’t going to be able to so - we understood that, but asked before trivia started at least can we get the music turned down so that we could hear. After all, trivia was about 30 minutes from even starting. What was the harm? After waiting about 25 minutes for it to be turned down to a reasonable level we walked in and asked the bartender. The bartender literally shook his head and said it’s not going to happen, and then walked away. That was it no other explanation no taking the time to listen or care or show respect for your customer. “It’s not going to happen.” But truly what’s worse than that is that he just walked away… What a terrible way to treat someone who’s paying to dine at your establishment. Again, I understand havjng bad days and difficult customers, but a simple request to turn the music down did not illicit that response. I will definitely not be returning to planks, when previously we had gone at least 1-2x a month.

Walked in, sat down, got served quickly. Order was accurate and the food was hot and tasty. Didn't have to wait for the bill. Our waiter was friendly and on top of things.

Love this place! My husband and I are from GA and frequently visit our daughter here in Columbus. We have been to Planks before and returned on this trip to enjoy wine and beer, and eventually order pizza to go. The wait staff is friendly and helpful and prices are not too expensive. The pizza is amazing! We will continue to return to Planks.

Good brats and good German potato salad! The place smells like pub (not really my thing) but I guess it adds to the character of the place?¿ Overall it was a great experience and a lovely outdoor patio.

Took a little while to get a table during lunch, but we also requested outdoor seating. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I ended up getting one of the burgers, and it was a monster. Loved every bite. Decent selection on beer too, a bunch of craft beers and the normal stuff. Highly recommend if you're in the area. Keep it up guys

Pitchers of beer (they have the Truth mmmm) and great pizza and food. We went on a Wednesday and got to play Columbus Trivia Challenge... It is about to start!!! Servers are great and I like the covid/distancing measures.

They wouldn't allow our small dog (In his stroller)on the big patio and we were the only people out there. Front patio (where they do allow dogs) was tiny and did not have enough seats for our party to sit together. We ended up going to Gresso's down the street and ate, drank and hung out. Spent $198. We had so much fun and the beers were nice and cold.

We were in German village decided to try planks out. Good food great choice of different beers. They have a covered outdoor section, and an indoor area. Staff was attentive, and polite. Will return again.

Decent American bar food with a slight German twist. Definitely on the greasy side, but sometimes you're just in the mood for food like this. The staff was nice enough and the food came out at a good pace. Nothing specific to complain about.

This is one of our go to neighborhood pizza places. Great atmosphere, delicious pizza, and they have a good selection of beers on tap. I can't speak for the other menu items, which look great because pizza is the reason we come here. The sauce is saltier than Plank's cafe on Parsons. We prefer the saltier over sweet. The service is good, and the outdoor patio as well as the enclosed area with the roll up windows are great when the weather is nice. I highly recommend Plank's Bier Garten.

Nice spot! Great outdoor and indoor seating. Kellie was a great server. Everything we ordered was quick, accurate and delicious. The pretzels and Cubano are on point!! Will definitely return.

Good beer, good food, good service and decent prices. Wouldn't plan on taking a first date here, but definitely a nice change of pace. Parking was a bit cramped. Would plan on walking a little unless you get lucky and find a spot in the small parking lot behind them.

I love planks! Had a great Reuben and German potato salad. They have outside seating which was perfect on the day we went. It's all shaded but it's open to the fresh air.

First time eating here. Area was clean and open. Large dining tables. Waiter was great. Asked him to surprise me. Brought me a cuban with fries. The fries here are some of the best fries I've ever had. Top three for sure. The sandwich was simple, served with mustard and pickle, and the meat was tender and juicy. The winner was the grilled Flatbread that held it together. They didn't hesitate to make a meal for me when I asked them to surprise me. Definitely worth the money. Around 15 for the meal plus an unsweet tea. Couldn't finish. A lot of food for the price.

Great atmosphere! We were out on the closed in patio and had a relaxing dinner. Everything was hot and fresh, the potato skins were fantastic. The beer selection is varied and interesting. We’ll be back!

Great service. Battered fries are great. Pizza fast and delicious. Really great indoor/outdoor covered patio area with TV's.
