No vegetarian options. I had the mushroom omelette and it was delicious.

Very much a pub-like atmosphere, darker and time-worn. Their Southwestern Salad with Chicken was excellent, and Dempsey's, also, offers a wide-variety regarding entrees and sandwiches, perfect for a quick-lunch or a full-meal. The staff is friendly and attentive, even once the crowds gather within. Their prices are moderate, as well, considering this is a downtown, Courts District location.

The atmosphere was great. It was a nice place to hang out and have a conversation over dinner. The staff was friendly and the service was exceptional. Food is typical pub food, i.e. burgers, fries, etc. The shoe string fries with queso and bacon are addicting!

We were traveling and needed a bite to eat before our next stop. We stopped at Dempsey's and were please with the food. My turkey club was great. The bacon 🥓 😋. We would definitely stop back the next time we are in Columbus.

Great Irish pub across from the courthouse. (Wonder how many deals were made there?) Ordered the potroast and it was very tender and delicious. They have live Irish music on certian nights including folk and bag pipes. Parking is a bit of an issue but worth the walk if you need to park a block or two away!

The food is absolutely amazing. The atmosphere is laid back and relaxing. Connor, the owner, is one of the nicest people I have met in a long time and made my first experience enjoyable. My picture does not do the dish justice. You have to try the Irish Totchos if you like Reubens and the Sweet Potato Poutine (Pam's Poutine🤣). Definitely going back for the brunch and bottomless mimosas on Saturday and Sunday. Edit Went back 8/30. It was better than the first time. The cottage pie was flavorful and piping hot. The garlic mash potatoes under the gravy was heavenly. To top it off...the Bua Brownie. No words. My soul left my body. Sorry I still don't take good pics but PLEASE GO TRY IT FOR YOURSELF!!! You will not be disappointed.

We have been to Dempsey’s twice for Sunday brunch. Our first experience was not so much delightful. The waitress was a piece of work. She did all sort of crazy things. From being sarcastic when asking for a coffee refill to bringing the check in the middle of your course. The place was clearly not crowded and she was not leaving anytime soon. The food we ordered wasn’t that good either. We ordered the Eggs Benedict, Huevos Rancheros, and Pancakes. Pancakes were really good but we couldn’t even finish the other two The second time we went there, we ordered pancake and mushroom omelette. Both good. Also the waiter, Sonny, was very efficient and polite. Just because of him I am adding a third star to my rating of this place.

My first time here and I was so excited to try the John McCain. Should known from the name to rethink it, The menu read as blackened chicken, pepper jack cheese, black bean corn salsa, Chipotle ranch in Spinach wrap....well see my picture it's literally chicken lettuce n sauce. 14 bux later plus tip....ugh eating out just isn't the same anymore.

So apparently I tried to come here 9 years ago according to my profile.. I literally just walked in seen it was busy and left. This time I actually sat down and had some food! The Irish Breakfast 2.0 was amazing and filling. Definitely glad I ordered it. The sausage patty was a thicc boy lol. Had to cut it with a knife and not just the side of the fork. The Bread Pudding French toast was awesome and recommended. The vibe of the bar was about what you expect. Very laid back. It got busy as we got close to finishing up. It's a good spot so I imagine the place is more busy than it's not so plan accordingly.

Great Irish pub, delicious food, best Reuben in Columbus, yummy sweet potato fries, fun atmosphere, solid Guinness pour, and reliable gathering spot for local whales.

From the moment you walk into this family-owned Irish pub/restaurant, you can tell it’s special and unique. At the door I was greeted by a gentleman I believe named Conor Dempsey, who made me feel right at home! He introduced me to his mom / “former roommate” and she was so great and kind. One of Conors siblings was there, a lady whose name I forget. It was a true family affair in the best way. I enjoyed a fantastic pint of Guinness, chicken quesadilla and sweet potato fries. Delicious! Conor gave me a salad dressing recommendation that was spot on. The decor on the wall speaks to the thoughtfulness and care the owners put into the place. They said the clock behind the bar is imported from an old house in Ireland. Very cool! Highly recommend this place for a quick meal or to spend several hours watching a ballgame or political debate. Irish, local, community tavern-feel with quality people and tasty food — a real gem of Columbus.

Service was incredibly slow for a Friday at 5. I guess we should have not expected much on the food side as this appears to be a bar first, place to get food second. Took forever to get menus and waters. Ordered food. A few minutes later my wife was told they were out of something for her selection so she ordered something else. Food came out in a reasonable amount of time but they were missing my soup, which was the only thing I ordered. She's went back and quickly slapped some in a bowl and brought it out. I ordered the Guinness stew which was the most bitter tasting soup I've ever had. My wife ate half of her BLT and very few sweet potato fries and I ate a few bites of the stew before pushing it off to the side. One would think the server might look over and notice that I had only ate half and ask if it was ok but know. After quite some time, I finally just asked for the check even though I had planned on getting the bread pudding but it was taking so long just to get our dinner served and picked up that I was afraid how long it might take if I didn't just get my check and leave.

Terrible experience when I went for Jury Duty. I was given 1 hr 30 mins for lunch. Stopped by at exactly lunch hour, it was packed. I was given the sense the regulars are given better service. When I asked the waiter for a to go menu he said “I don’t have any to go menus”. I asked if could order something to go. Anyways, I noticed an empty table and I told waiter I would sit there. In 30 mins he never came over to take my drink order. Bartender did come over and asked if I was helped. I advised I was, as waiter did take my order it didn’t write it down. I was given impression after about 20 minutes he never put my order in. I asked the bartender if I could just put in my order with her, she replied and said she would check if other waiter put in my order. I was never checked on at this point. Waited about 20 more minutes. Still no drink no food. I walked out and went to the mobile food cart by the old courthouse building, there was line and the one single guy cooked still managed to get my food in under 20 minutes. Don’t go if you’re not a regular. I was really upset and made my day worse.

I came here during lunch break for Jury duty because it was close by. I like to try new places so decided to stray away from the regular chain restaurants in the area. I got the Patty McDonald and some fries with a lemonade to drink. Everything was very average too me. The patty itself just tasted like a plain cheap patty and didn't seem seasoned at all. The bun was good and the toppings seemed fresh, so that was good. The fries taste pretty much exactly like McDonalds fries, so nothing great. I'm not sure if it is or not, but the lemonade tasted like your regular Minute Maid fountain drink. Maybe better luck with some of their house specialties if you end up going here.

I walked in just trying to get a quick bite to eat. There was no host/hostess so I went to the bar to ask if it’s seat yourself. There were 3 girls working behind the bar talking to each other (gossip not work related) I made eye contact with them several times before one of them finally came over to me. The place was small, it was a very limited menu. People were rude! The only good part was the server was nice even though I only stayed for 1 drink and left

Quaint little place caddy corner to the court house. Excellent service and yummy foods. Their menu may be small and basic looking, but the food and service is not. So much flavor and large portions. Melt in your mouth appetizers.

If you are in Columbus, you NEED to give this pub a try. There were 4 of us and everyone LOVED their meals. A bonus was playing chess with the owner! Look for the chess board near the door! Great food, amazing atmosphere and fun decor. 😀

Dempsey's is an amazing, family-owned establishment. We always feel so welcome and the service is fantastic. Food, drinks, environment...it's all there. They also have a separate meeting space that can accommodate an intimate event. They've had my business for years and that will continue!

Dempseys is a euro football bar that is also a courthouse favorite. The food is significantly better than average for bar food, the TVs are great, and the beer selection is good. Lots of interesting history about the building. Whether you're looking for lunch at your court date or somewhere to watch the world cup, Dempseys is a top-tier choice.

Our first visit! We had a nice time. I had the pot roast on Ciabatta with sauce. This is going to sound dumb, but the sauce was very good, but maybe a little too much because the roll couldn't hold up to the sauce. The pot roast was VERY tender and very flavorful. We will go back! Glad we found this place.

If you need somewhere to kill some time next to the courthouse this could be a good place to grab a drink/food(the French fries are good). Met some friends here for a happy hour and had a good experience for the most part, even though there was almost no one in there service was slow and was really waited on much. Drink prices were decent and they had a good selection of drinks. I would go back if I was in the area.

Great menu, good service, not very busy for lunch. Nice dimly lit old style pub. Pot roast and Friday fish and chips were great. Music not too loud, some TVs but the dining area is pretty calm.

Charming spot located in the middle of everything in Downtown Columbus! Great food and wonderful service. Not just a place to grab a cocktail (at the beautiful bar); but, a very tasty breakfast menu is offered on the weekends, too!

Great place!! We had a group there and buffet style food setup was very good!!! Only thing I would change is having a server/ bartender available in our section instead of having to get up and go to the bar, otherwise completely a 5 star!!!

Had an event in the back room, meatballs were great! The space held 15 to 17 people comfortably. Veggie tray and Buffalo chicken with chips. Staff is friendly and helpful! Would definitely hold another event there!

Dempsey's is remarkably good. Their sausage gravy is almost as good as mine. And I had their yummy cottage pie for lunch today. And extra props for distinguishing between cottage pie and shepherd's pie. Which pretty much every other food joint that has it in Columbus has no idea what they're doing.

It's typical American food with an Irish influence, so do yourself a favor and get a cottage pie and a pint of Guinness for lunch. You will not be disappointed.

  • 3/5 Leia J. 3 years ago on Google
The staff was great but the food was lack luster. The Guiness Stew wasn't bad though the vegetables were inconsistently cut, the chicken sandwich had a smell to it so it was sent back, the meatloaf was falling apart and the gravy was a tad salty, and bread pudding was decent. Honestly for my first taste of Columbus I wasn't impressed.

I'm sorry but I don't know how anyone could give their food a good review. It was bland, dry and barely warm and overpriced. I think being downtown in that location brings them business they don't deserve.

Ordered the mile high omelets...there was no flavor and no care taken in chopping the vegetables. Just big chunks. Furthermore, I ordered turkey sausage in one omelet and the meat was definitely old. It had a spoiled taste. For $44, I wish I would have hit Kroger and made omelets and potatoes from scratch.

Called at least 12 times. Voicemail everytime. Are they open for takeout? If not why is there no indication on their website or on the voicemail? Also, if they are just not answering because they have too many orders then pick up the phone and tell me that. The last place I talked to told me that.

Mushroom soup slaps and had very earthy broth. Sandwiches are filling l and the potroast is beefy. Mac and cheese is thick. Had a live Irish flute and violin band playing. Very lively but mellow atmosphere that was a tasteful place to relax.
