I was so excited to try lunch here that I made a special trip. Was disappointed that there was nowhere to sit inside to eat and that everything was to go. Thankfully a table with two ladies let me sit with them in the shade outside before my red headed self burst into flames. I got the large Reuben, original potato salad and cherry cheesecake. The Reuben was incredible. Generous amount of meat, the sauerkraut was not overwhelming and it was beautifully toasted. The prices were extremely fair and the staff was very nice. Will definitely go back when it cools off a little.

Awesome Deli!! People were great and the food was delicious and comforting with old world feel. They have assortment of cheese, meats and breads and much more. Not much parking around the area but we were lucky enough to get the spot in front of the store. We had the Reuben, marinated herring, latke, and motzo soup. I also learned that Bill Clinton had visited this establishment as I seen his pics on the wall.

My wife and I decided to try out this place. On the day we came it is only patio seating or carryout. They also offer Uber Eats and Doordash as delivery options. We chose to get the Katzinger's Ruben and Gene's Free Lunch and got 2 Diet Dr.Browns cream soda, it is the best cream soda I ever tasted. Seriously. From start to finish you are looking for about a 20 minute wait after you place your order. The food quality when it came out was okay.... i mean it was just okay, nothing to write home about. #1 Katzinger’s Reuben ”Katzinger’s Reuben Our best-selling sandwich since the day we opened. Hot corned beef, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, our own Russian dressing grilled on rye.$12.95 | Deli Size: $15.95” The crust on the rye bread from the griddle was good, it had a bite to it. The bread outershell was crunchy just the edge yet the inside of the bread was chewy. The Russian dressing was delicious however when you order a large sandwich you would expect it to have more meat. The meat was a little dry i don't know if it is normally that dry. It is also cut into ribbons that are thin maybe a little to thin. Each person has their own opinion on what is to thin or thick. #21 Gene's Free Lunch "Gene’s Free Lunch Hot corned beef, roast beef, Swiss cheese, creamy coleslaw, Russian dressing on pumpernickel. $12.50 | Deli Size: $14.50" This sandwhich was cold, you would think it would be warm as they stated Hot corned beef with it being paired with everything else it was not. They didn't place it on the griddle to crisp it up the bread like the original. This was a perfect sandwhich but I would ask them next time to griddle it so all of the meat would be warm yet then let them at the very end put that cold crisp coleslaw on it to vary the texture. Macaroni salad "With our secret ( and some say addictive) dressing $3.25 side $6.50 lb" Three words desribe this macaroni salad "slap yo ________" good. Next we are going to talk about about the pickles, from every review of the pickles they were supposedly delicious. Toss them. Use them as lawn darts and aim for the trashcan or you could pull yourself a Kobe one final time. They came free with our sandwiches. New York Cheesecake "A slice of cream cheesy sweet goodness Plain slice of cheesecake $4.95 Fruit topped slice of cheesecake $5.50 Whole 10" NY Cheesecake $42.00 ( serves 12-16) Whole 10" NY Cheesecake with fruit $46.00 ( serves 12-16)" Honestly this cheesecake IS BETTER than The Cheesecake Factory in the sense of it size and taste. It was super creamy. The end crust is where it's at! Nostalgia. That is all I can say. It's what you need on any day of the week. Overall, I will give this local downtown Columbus place a solid 4.6 on this. Some things I would change or do differently but overall I like it and I will come here again next time I'm in town for my doctor's appointment as it's a hour drive from Dayton, Ohio.

The food is good! There are some problems though. The prices are crazy high! For a bagel with onion, tomato, cream cheese, and salmon it cost $15. That’s about $3 worth ingredients, $0.50 in labor and a HUGE markup in price. With all the options you may need a few mins to review the menu. Well, the employees seem to be annoyed if you need more than one min to look at the menu, I felt rushed and the cashier was rude when I ordered. Seemed like she had better things to do. Also, if you work as a cashier, you’re customer facing for one to two mins. You don’t need more than a $0.25 tip for your time. For a basic sandwich one would think it would take only a few mins to make, but I waited 12 mins for this. Not worth the long wait. This place has potential but needs to be more welcoming to guests and reduce the prices

Definitely a good stop. The line wasn't bad for 2:15 on a Saturfay afternoon. We had to wait about a half hour and then about 10 minutes for our food to come out. We ordered the 'bustling birdwich' which is #16 I believe. We got the deli size (bigger option), a pound of fruit salad, and a drink. It came to a little over $30. Not bad for two people. The free pickles are an added bonus too!

The Reuben (#1 on menu) is a MUST have. Bread is toasted to perfection, the corned beef is so tasty and not overly salted, and the homemade Russian dressing is a kiss from heaven. Solid portion size too, but it is a bit pricey for a sandwich. Verdict - would go back; would recommend to friends.

Disappointed overall. There was no indoor seating despite the very large area for it within the "restaurant." So if you can't snag one of the handful of chincy tables outside, I guess you have to try and eat your lunch standing. Ordered #37 and it came without slaw. It was supposed to have corned beef but I think it was roast beef, as my husband had corned beef on his sandwich and it was totally differently. Mine was tough. There was a very small amount of meat, granted I did get the "small," but for a $14 sandwich, I expected more. I tried the soup because it was on "best thing I ever ate." The broth had a sour flavor and had way too many noodles. It was more like a side of egg noodles dressed with chicken broth. My husband did enjoy his #29. However, for a $40 lunch....I won't be back.

The food was amazing! 5 for it. Got #36 loved every bite But atmosphere and place needs to be open for inside seating. No excuse for COVID. Paying premium at least need spot to seat and eat in this winter.

Amazing experience at Katzinger's - Monica was super friendly and helped our first time experience be a wonderful one. We got the #1 and #70 sandwiches, latkes, knish, focaccia, red dragon mustard cheese, the cave age cheese, and a loaf of the harvest grain. Free pickles while you wait! Besides the food, the atmosphere of great with amazing houseplants. One of the best monstera I have ever seen! All in all, great experience and we will be back. Thank you Monica for your help!

I met a lady while riding the COTA bus who suggested this place. We decided to go together and split a Reuben it was absolutely amazing. I had to take a couple bites before I could even get a picture off. Thank you baby girl I will remember you always I wish I would’ve got your number.

What a great place to visit for an authentic pastrami sandwich 🥪 and the most delicious pickled cucumbers 🥒We also had to try their coleslaw and it was so yummy 😋 Bread is fresh and tasty! And the employees are friendly and welcoming! Made us feel very cozy and warm with all the care and hospitality! This place is a great, historic, and unique opportunity to experience something that’s not so common is time of chain franchises and big companies. Authenticity. And locals love it!

Katzingers Deli has been a staple in German Village in Columbus Ohio for a very long time. Like countless others before me I have been here many times before Googles existence . I just have finally added it to my reviews. They have given the original Jewish deli experience to hundreds and thousands. Their pickles are legendary and their Ruben is toasty golden delicious salty and sweet all in one. It's a shame their is no inside seating but you have a handful of seats outside. If you have not gone before expect a wait because it's that good alot of folks will be there at any given time. They have old world style potato cakes which the Jewish term is evading my mind but nonetheless delicious served with sour cream. What is so unique about this Deli than others in Columbus is that it has been here since 1984. The things you will find here are common place in the old New York delis but this is Columbus. Their breads come from out of the area but a very good reason so. It is because they are delicious. They have chosen the things to carry and make in this Deli that sets them apart from anyone in the area. Take a cooler and stock up on some of the greatness here and it is worth the drive no matter the time. Just go here and you will understand why they have stood the test of time.

This was my first visit to Katzinger's Delicatessen, and it definitely won't be my last. The restaurant itself was a very nice place, if a bit small for how well known it is. We ordered a sandwich for each of us and a side of the potato salad. We were able to find a table while we waited, then after a short wait, got our food and went to eat at one of the local parks in the German Village. I got the Jack Does the Funky Chicken sandwich. The flavor was excellent, and I really liked the Honeycup Mustard they put on the sandwich. It did end up being a very messy sandwich, so make sure you grab plenty of napkins before digging into this one. The chicken was grilled perfectly and the toppings were fresh. I was very happy with the sandwich, and like I said, we will definitely be coming back for more.

Wow what a find!!! A family friend recommended the deli to us to visit during our recentr business trip to Columbus. This is hands down a fantastic place to grab a bite!!! The menu is huge!!! The breads meats and cheese are all top notch. We enjoyed the pastrami corned beef and desserts. The key lime pie maybe the best I have ever had!!! Please give this eatery a visit. Your stomach will thank you for it later!!!

This place is a solid 4.5 in my book. The service was awesome. The lady at the front who took our order was very nice, she even let us try one of the small pastry things like a fig newton. On to the food, my wife got the #1 and i got the #39 i believe. For 15$ i was kinda expecting a Carnegie Deli style monster sandwich but what i got was what I would consider a normal sized sandwich. They were both very good. We got the greek salad and pasta salad and both were decent. The greek could use quite a bit more dressing. I know the pickles seem to be a big star, but we weren't a fan of either the dill or garlic. To be fair, we really like claussen pickles in the refrigerator section, just for comparison. We will definitely be coming back though! Thanks guys and gals!

Just went to Katzinger’s for the first time, for an early lunch. As someone who went to college in NYC and has experienced the native delicatessen experience, all I can say is BRAVO. Everything was delicious, from the complimentary garlic pickle (self-served from a barrel, no less) to the massive sandwiches that my husband and I devoured. I got the #74 - Wross Left His Mark and my husband got the # 5 - Mimi’s Melody. I would highly recommend both of these delights. The bagel and bread our sandwiches were served on were out of this world (and so was the tuna salad!). Our new goal is to try every sandwich on the menu - with our stomachs and determination and joy, I’m certain we will be able to. The place itself is honestly just adorable. I loved all the decor and, of course, the little delicatessen-style market area where you can purchase packaged items and homemade recipes by the pound. I was especially tickled to see both blintzes and latkes in the case. We’ll likely be back next week. Thank you, Katzinger’s, for making me cry tears of joy and nostalgia for NYC.

Having eaten at many Jewish style delis in my life, this is a solid choice for sure. The rye bread takes a backseat to no one, its fantastic. The corned beef is really good, but feel the pastrami is fairly pedestrian. Not bad, but not great, either. Overall though, I will continue to visit this place and enjoy the meals I have there.

Tried the classic reuben sandwich and it was tasty. The bread and sauce on the sandwich is very good. Also, tried the coleslaw, which was good. This place has been around for awhile and seems they know what they are doing. Service was very fast and friendly.

Food is good but not worth the wait. My family of 4 stood in line to order for 10+ minutes. I get it you’re busy but then it was another 20+ minutes for our food. We ordered desserts and sandwiches. We ate the sandwiches outside because of no indoor seating. We thought we had all the desserts because they were in a big bag. When we got back to the hotel and opened the bag a slice of pie and a brownie was missing. I called and they refunded me for the pie and didn’t even have the brownie on their receipt. The cashier repeated the order back to me and said everything so I don’t know what happened. Again good food but not worth the wait for sandwiches. We threw the pickles away because they had a weird taste and not like cucumbers.

Found this Deli in Columbus (felt like a NY deli). The Reuben was overloaded just the way I like it. Don’t miss out out on the free pickle barrels. Will visit again if in the area. Next time will have to try the Pastrami sandwich

Our first time here. No indoor dining(yet), but the staff was friendly and efficient getting orders out the door. Our huge sandwich(#34) was plenty for two, the macaroni salad just right. I’m always glad to see local businesses figure out this new reality and stay open!

Really cute place with barrels of pickles (free with purchase). Had a tuna melt which was yummy and headed over to Schiller park for a picnic. Will definitely be back! Would be a great place to make a gourmet charcuterie board.

Good atmosphere and a large menu. I have been wanting to try Katzinger’s for sometime and I am not disappointed in the results. The egg salad, while not the obvious choice at a deli, was amazing. It was a good mixture of home-made quality and dine-out flavor. The food was fresh, and sitting outside in the sun was relaxing.

Katzinger's Delicatessen is a great restaurant in German Village! We stopped in on Friday for some lunch to-go. We had to wait about 15 minutes for our food, but they were *packed* and the employees were moving super fast. I have to say - I was also pleasantly surprised to see a few employees still wearing face masks. Kudos to them ❤️ We ordered: One #21 Gene’s Free Lunch - (hot corned beef, roast beef, Swiss cheese, creamy cole slaw, Russian dressing on pumpernickel) -This sandwich was amazing. The meats were so fresh and tasty. The bread was awesome. The mix of the meats, dressing, coleslaw - it was very satisfying. I would buy this sandwich time and time again. -One #69 Jack Does the Funky Chicken - (Grilled marinated chicken breast, applewood smoked bacon, lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise, Honeycup mustard, grilled on sourdough) -This sandwich had excellent flavor. The honey mustard was a great taste that meshed well with everything else on the sandwich. The chicken was moist and delicious. -One side of red skin potato salad - (extra virgin olive oil, vinegar and scallions) -The potato salad was great! Definitely not a standard potato salad, but I loved it. In addition to the above, I got a regular dill pickle and a garlic pickle to take with us. The restaurant has two big barrels of free pickles. Bags and tongs are provided so people can help themselves. If you're wanting to stop by Katzinger's, I highly recommend looking at the menu online first and coming up with a game plan before you go since this is such a popular spot. Also, please note that the prices online (direct on the site, not the full PDF version) don't fully match all the ones currently posted on site. Overall, I really do think this restaurant is great. Everyone should try it at least once!

New York kosher style deli in German town in Columbus. Deli done right! Something on the menu for everyone and every taste. Portions are heavy, prices are reasonable and staff are warm and friendly. Only complaint is the matzah ball soup was cold. Barrels of free pickles ? Amazing!

Love the food, pricing wasn't a big shock as im from NY and see those prices every day, but it was well worth it. Food was excellent and served up quickly.

I had this once in New York, and when I found out that Columbus has one too, I was super excited to try it out. The atmosphere is not as cool and crazy as in NYC. Restaurant is colorful and the menu was a lot... Just pick any of the top 5 to save time deciding on what to get lol Toasted deli bread was a little too buttery, but overall it was a great deli sandwich! The Reuben was yummy, and the NYC cheese was not bad. They have other pastries/desserts too. It was pretty crowded on a Saturday afternoon. Free pickles in the barrel; you can get as many as you like! Staff was friendly, they'll call your first name and your last name initial out loud when the food is ready.

EXTREMELY long wait times! Not a pleasant experience unless you like waiting 30 minutes for an overpriced sandwich. Also, if you don't look like their typical clientele, White and wealthy, then they will treat you as if you don't belong there. This place fits right in with Muirfield. If there were ever such a thing as an elitist deli, this would be it! This is not a biased opinion based on one visit. I've been here well over 30 times to pick up food for deliveries. I've also eaten here as a customer. It's a very uncomfortable environment to be in. The staff doesn't help either. Don't dare ask how long your wait will be for food, because you will be greeted with a healthy dose of bad attitude. Hands down worst restaurant in Dublin!!! As a doordash driver, I get treated like a second class citizen at some places, but this place is above and beyond in that regard. I wouldn't take the time to post this review unless I felt it necessary for this information to be made public.

It was good not great for me. Got the number one, the Rueben. Meat and sauce were great, bread had good flavor but the crust was so hard it hurt my teeth. They were out of almost everything in the store. They ran out of CO2 for their soda machine. Would have been more acceptable but I heard them tell the people in front of me that they were out of several flavors of sodas. Basically making it tough to find any sort of drink unless you wanted Gatorade. Not exactly what I'm looking to pair with my deli sandwich. The worst part was they were out of pickles. That's one of the things that they are famous/known for. Not sure how you run out of so many different things at the same time. It's a marginal 4 out of 5 for me. Could have easily gone to a 3 on this one. I didn't find it all that special, but that's been my whole Ohio experience so far. 🤙✌️

I have ordered the same sandwich from this deli for over 25 years and though the size has decreased and the cost increased, the taste and quality has remained supreme! This store has an eclectic mix of items to buy and actual pickle barrels but not open to the public anymore—you can taste the difference. It’s pricey but worth a visit and taste.

We live a stretch south of Columbus so we don't get into the city that often. Since we were going to be close by we planned to pick up Katzinger's and bring it back home to have with some friends. The place was busy as usual. We placed the order as usual, it was repeated back and sounded mostly correct. We corrected it and the cashier said he got the changes and hurried us on. When we got our food and pickles for everyone, we looked to make sure we had the right number of containers and sandwiches and the right numbers from the menu were on the sandwiches that weren't customized, we headed for home. When we got there we found that we probably should have unwrapped each one and checked it. Sandwiches that normally have 2 meats only had one. Condiments were wrong. Some had the wrong meats all together. Most of the group wouldn't eat the pickles as they were said to have a weird chemical taste. There was something wrong with every sandwich but one and that person felt guilty for enjoying the sandwich while everyone else was disappointed. I felt guilty for recommending the restaurant so highly and talking everyone into it. The person who got the correct sandwich was really happy with it. Several of us still felt the sandwiches were tasty even though they weren't correct. One was mad, and we had to make new sandwich for one who wouldn't eat what he got that wasn't even close to what was ordered. I know they're probably understaffed like everyone else, and they were very busy. But every other time I've been there they've been very busy and I've never had an experience like this. I do feel like I checked the order within reason before we left and I don't expect that having to unwrap every sandwich at the restaurant to make sure it's made correctly is reasonable. I would still go back because I've had so many good experiences that outweighed this one. However I know I won't be able to get anyone else in that group to go back with me, which makes me pretty sad.
