This was a great spot for our dysfunctional family to have dinner. First, there’s a full bar, second the food is great and there’s something for everyone and third the service is outstanding. I had the salmon with stick rice, trying to be somewhat healthy. It was delicious. The blue cheese chips as a starter was a crowd pleaser. The cocktails were fantastic. Our server was attentive without being distracting l. And to finish we had the peanut butter pie which was so good. The manager came out a couple time to make sure we were being taken care of which was a nice touch. I highly recommend this upscale diner!

We got a carryout order of Meatloaf, Romano Crusted Chicken, 24k Carrot Cake and 2 Lemondrop Martini's to go. Everything was spectacular, even an hour later when we ate it. Leftovers the next day we're still just as good. This was on a Friday night at 5:30. It was hands down the best food we've gotten in a long time. Great experience!

This was an incredible dinner! Our server was absolutely amazing - he was able to suggest his personal favorites including the Romano Crusted Chicken and the Cap City Diner Meatloaf which did not disappoint. Everything was perfectly seasoned and cooked flawlessly. I wish I'd taken a picture of everything but I highly recommend their pepperoni pizza flatbread for a starter and their Salmon Entree. I cannot commend or compliment this restaurant higher! I wish I could pick a highlight of the meal, but it's difficult to do so... Although I recommend saving room for the chocolate covered peanut butter pie. Absolutely fantastic!

Cap City Diner was an amazing experience through and through. The energy of the environment is very relaxed and fun, and wait staff was a pleasure to talk to. The options here are endless, the hot pretzel is huge and tastes great, and the blue cheese chips are surprisingly delicious. Along side their great selection of shakes, I got the cap city club and enjoyed it very much. I can’t wait to come back here again!

Wow! What are fantastic experience! After a friendly greeting we had a short wait for a table, at which we enjoyed an appetizer, two entrees and two desserts to go with one fountain beverage for a grand total of 100 bucks with tip. Did I mention it was all was gluten free!?! Gluten free dinner rolls House chips with alfredo and cheddar (gf) Philly cheese steak served on a gluten-free bun with fries that were gluten free And the best gluten-free fish and chips I've ever had! We took the cheesecake with us but it looks amazing. Our entrees and appetizer came with allergy picks. Our drinks were never empty and we will be back!

Good, fast food. Friendly service. Chicken potpie special is pictured. You can't quite tell from outside but inside has a greasy spoon diner kind of feel. Pretty cool. You get plenty of food and you won't have to wait around. American fare, nice and clean.

Very beautiful establishment. Nice size parking lot. I had the Pecan crusted Pork chop, delicious. Had the Strawberry Shortcake for dessert, reminded me of my youth. Strawberry Basil Lemonade was also very refreshing.

First time at Cap City Fine Diner and Bar. It was an overall excellent experience from the service, scrumptious hot and sour calamari appetizer to our dinners. We’ll definitely be back.

Great brunch spot! Went for brunch on Saturday morning at 11 (had a reservation). Probably didn’t need a reservation for 11:00, but it did fill up pretty quickly. Everything we ordered was delicious-we started with a half order of the blue cheese potato chips and blueberry pancake fritters. Both very good. I ordered the eggs on hash over medium and it was very flavorful. Our server was very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. He recommended the half order of potato chips (we didn’t know that was a thing). I’d like to go back to try so many more items from the menu and get more of the blue cheese potato chips!

This is the first time I’ve struggled to write a review. Quite simply, because it would take several paragraphs to provide the details necessary for such an amazing restaurant. From the initial call to reserve a seat for my wife & I to the final conversation with our waitress, Kirstyn…EVERYTHING was exceptional! Food was perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection!! Cocktails were perfectly crafted!! Dessert…HUGE serving and DELICIOUS!!! My only regret is there isn’t a location in GA.

Very impressed with this place loved the decor and the server was wonderful. I had the pecan crusted pork chops and they were cooked perfectly and not dry like so many places tend to over cook. Also had a dirty martini and was thrilled to find someone that knew how to make it correctly. Wedge salad was also great had plenty of leftovers. Would definitely go again if ever in this area! The Martini did have a few blue cheese stuffed olives just didn’t make the pic!

this place has a reputation in columbus for having some of THE best eats in the city. and yet i've never been! so when date night came around, i was thrilled to have a chance to finally check it out. first off: get reservations ahead of time. this place is BUSY. hour waits aren't uncommon. but we didn't have to wait very long since we reserved a table. i'd definitely say that's the way to go. the menu is chef curated, and there are definitely some interesting combinations on the menu (with, from what i could tell, no substitutions). but there's absolutely something for everyone. i got the meatloaf melt because i have heard GREAT things about the meatloaf here, and my date got the spicy chicken rigatoni. both of us were absolutely satisfied with our selections; the rigatoni is a HUGE portion size packed with meat, pasta, mushrooms, and veggies, while the meatloaf melt is so thick that posting pictures of it could be qualified as a thirst trap. service was excellent and attentive too. it felt like every phase of dining we had multiple people helping us out. and that's despite it being a packed house at 8pm on a weekday. they nailed the 50s americana aesthetic, and you feel like you're in a classic traincar diner despite the building being far bigger and nowhere near as cramped. overall, this is a place where the reputation precedes itself, and with good reason. be ready for a busy restaurant that doesn't feel busy, a time capsule from another era, and a delicious food experience, all at once. A++ work, absolutely deserves the glowing reviews it gets.

This was one of THEE best experiences at a local diner. We made reservations and there was no wait. The salmon with the stir-fry vegetables were sooo yummy. The meat loaf was good and the beef stroganoff was missing a little something on the flavor. The blue cheese chips and wings were delectable. The bar tenders, Hannah and Savannah (not twins, lol) were friendly! Can't wait to return!

We shared a Greek salad (no pic of it), burger with fries and a chocolate cake. Every bite was delicious! We had to take some of the cake home because we couldn't finish it.

True to their description, fun and unique menu items. The blue cheese chips are such a savory rich combination that I'd even try to recreate it at home. The ambiance of feeling in a nice, upscale service restaurant while maintaining quick and friendly treatment for as big as it is. There's even a lit candle in the restroom. I like it alot, I recommend and would come back.

I checked out this location today the food was pretty good, I tried the bacon and cheese soup, which was awesome. I also got my regular the fried fish sandwich…. Which the fish sandwich was tooooooo salty, the food was overly salted from the fish sandwich to the French Fries. Next time I will just say light salt on the fish and fries……

The pork chops were kind of sweet. The Salmon was decent. Nice crust.the snow peas were a bit much for me but the butter sauce is good. The chicken was fried well but needed more seasoning. I didn’t try the beer battered haddock but my mom said it was juicy and crunchy.

A great evening out with girlfriends. I heard the meatloaf sandwich was really great so I anticipated eating it. It was good but not great. The Reuben sandwich was also good. Margaritas were delicious! The blue cheese chips and carrot cake were amazing.

Cap City diner on Olentangy River road is a traditional birthday stop for our family. The food is excellent the service is very fine and the atmosphere is pleasant. Be sure to mention your birthday for a complimentary dessert and I recommend the incredibly large delicious chocolate cake.

This is my first experience at Cap City, and it was DELICIOUS!! I had the meatloaf, and it was awesome. My friend and I split a piece of the chocolate cake, and they kindly served it on two plates. The photo is of the two halves!!! Best chocolate cake I think I’ve ever had. Great waitress and comfortable place to be.

The food was so good. We got the blue cheese chips which so delicious. Then we got Mac n cheese for the kids which they loved. I got the spinach apple salad with chicken. My husband got the pecan crusted pork chops which was good but the portion was so large. 2 ppl could have shared his entree. Overall food and service was good. Will recommend for families.

Wanted to try something different while in Columbus with mom and we both loved the food! The dessert was amazing also. The staff is very friendly and the place overall was hands down gorgeous! Food is very pricey, but well worth it. Would recommend to anybody and will definitely be stopping by again if I am the Columbus area.

The restaurant has a unique vibe. A mix between a 50s diner and an upscale bistro in a city. I had their version of a rum runner and it was really good. For dinner I had the chicken pot pie. But it has a twist, it’s not a pie at all. It was uh-making. Also there was an order of spicy chicken rigatoni. I’ve never tried anything like it but I loved it. They have a really creative menu. I’m sad that I live so far away because this would definitely be put on my normal rotation.

Everytime i go it's always good but this time 10/24/2023 the pork chops were a little tough but everyone was very accommodating and the new pork chops came out they were a little better but still a little tough but way better then the first round they explained that they have a new distributor that they get the pork chops from which was understandable Because I have never had a bad plate or service besides that little hiccup everything was good

We stopped for dinner first and it was over an hour wait. So we left. Then the next day came back for lunch and there was a 20 min wait. we got lucky and sat at the bar. This place was packed! It was Thursday. Great food. the staff was great and the place clean. You know a place is good when it is always busy.

I had the Thursday Blue Plate meal, Roasted Pot Roast! I was visiting and let me tell you this meal was fantastic. The hosts at my hotel recommended this restaurant and I was amazed at the flavor! The pot roast was so tender, and full of flavor. My cocktail was also amazing! The staff was so friendly and attentive!

I was staying in the hotel next door and noticed how busy this place was so I had to try it! I tried their blue cheese chips, they weren't bad. The ribeye was delicious. If I'm ever in town again, I'd come back and try the meatloaf.

We stopped here on our way through Columbus on a vacation, and were extremely glad we did. My kids got a cheese pizza (the pepperoni flatbread starter without the pepperoni) and the kids' cheeseburger meal. They both loved the food. My wife got the ponzu glazed salmon, and thoroughly enjoyed all the items on the plate. I got the pecan crusted pork chops, at the suggestion of the server. These were amazing. The pecans were just enough to add flavor without overwhelming the pork, and the honey glaze accented the pork flavor and seasoning perfectly. Really, the only thing I didn't like was the mashed potatoes, because the were spicy, but that is noted on the menu item (chipotle mashed potatoes), so I wasn't put off by that fact. For desert, my wife got the key lime pie, and I got the apple pie. Both of these were great. Service was also excellent, leaving us alone most of the time, but stopping by just often enough that we never went too long with a need. Overall, while this place is higher on the price than many nearby location, I definitely recommend it.

For the record it's one of my favorite restaurants. The food is always good. The service was good. I love the meatloaf melt, it's a sandwich that hits the spot for me. The Reuben is also excellent and the fish sandwich is one of the best in the city. They make the best chili I've had with chunks of tender sirloin steak and would not hesitate to order anything else from them. The desserts are really good and I love their creme brulee. The complementary roles were over proofed and a bit over done - not the best I've had from them. The interior is clean but the exterior could be updated. I'll be back for sure.

  • 5/5 Jon J. 1 year ago on Google
We love eating here. It’s like fine dining without the fine dining price. Food is always so flavorful and cooked to perfection. The meatloaf is one in a million.

Food is always solid here. Service is always friendly as well. I would say the quality is good but maybe during the pandemic, they have had to cut down their menu and some of the dishes seem smaller.

First time here from out-of-town looking for a nice date night restaurant on a busy late Friday evening the menu was very small and not a lot that look appealing to me in my opinion but I went for the crab cakes the sauce I didn't care for and all vegetable medley on it the mushrooms I got was very delicious and our nightcaps we had was also excellent! But service was above and beyond very classic clean restaurant will definitely come back give it another go overall recommend this restaurant establishment.

I visited Cap City today for a lunch meeting with friends. The customer service was very welcoming, friendly, and attentive. We ordered soft drinks and then went directly for the lunch entrees. As our server shared the information on the daily specials I decided on the deconstructed chicken pot pie and it was delicious. We wrapped up lunch splitting a piece of carrot cake (also very tasty) and then headed out. Overall great experience and I look forward to my next visit.

Started out a little shaky. My mother, brother, his girlfriend, and I got seated outside in the heat on the patio without even being asked if that is what we wanted. THANKFULLY, a waiter asked how we were and got us moved inside 💙 Once inside, we had the BEST waitress and service!! Oh and our food was perfect!!! Oh my and the desserts!! Nom nom nom Yeah, I am that childish!! Haha Great food, great atmosphere, and YES, the food is worth every penny!! For sure, I'm going to be eating here again!!

My COVID-19 experience can be summed up in one noun: Olivia! She was fantastic! Not only was she so helpful and kind, she definitely took the time out to be a caring person. Efficient communication, timely service and most importantly, she represented the company well. I hope Olivia’s superiors will learn about her work ethic. I am likely to return to this location because of her.

Food was superior. Typically 1 of us will like their food but all 3 of us did. I had the Balsamic grilled chicken, my son had the meatloaf sandwich, my husband had spicy chicken rigatoni. The only suggestion was that the rigatoni could have been spicier! We had soup, appetizers and dessert and it was all very tasty!

Love this place, staff is always super polite, nice and accommodating. The portions are huge and the food tastes divine. I've eaten most of the things on the menu and haven't disliked a single item. I highly recommend the walleye special they have on Fridays.

This is my favorite Cap City location. I have been coming here since I was a kid. We have had many special celebrations here. We even ate here right after our wedding. The food is always delicious and the staff is always friendly and accommodating. My only complaint is how busy it gets because so many people love it! There a few meals better than the blue cheese potato chips as an appetizer, the meatloaf as an entree, and a piece of giant chocolate cake for dessert.

  • 5/5 Bonnie S. 3 years ago on Google
This is a great place to take out of town visitors for a little taste of Columbus. The ambiance is awesome especially since the recent remodel- like being in a diner car but still comfy and classy inside. They don’t have a ton of vegetarian options which is a bummer for me, however their veggie platter is so good I get it every time & can’t complain. They have the biggest slices of cake I’ve ever seen and amazing milkshakes!

Being from the east coast I shy away from “diners” having had my fair share of late night meals of any regrettable variety, but I finally came to this local favorite. Well first off, it’s pretty indulgent, so come here for comfort food and little more! Plenty of their dishes have a sweet kick, and or a big savory presence, and food comes fast and in great portion. It’s definitely a very nice diner as far as diners go.
