During
a
trip
from
home,
the
“foodie
hub
of
Kansas
City”
to
visit
my
niece
at
the
great
Ohio
State
University,
she
suggested
lunch
at
Sycamore,
which
is
located
in
a
charming
area
called
German
Village.
It
was
a
cool
and
drizzly
day,
so
we
chose
hot
drinks,
including
Queen
of
Cups
(coffee
with
cardamom,
lavender
and
honey)
and
Turmeric
Tea,
both
of
which
were
quite
comforting.
If
you
have
never
tried
cardamom
in
coffee,
stretch
yourself
to
try
it.
You’re
guaranteed
to
enjoy
it!
It’s
quite
lovely.
We
also
had
the
Beetroot
Sipper,
a
cold
drink
with
the
perfect
blend
of
beet
juice,
vanilla
and
oat
milk.
What
a
fantastic
combination!
The
menu
for
lunch
seemed
just
right,
a
blend
of
salads
and
sandwiches,
colorful,
healthy
and
with
nuances
from
spice
and
unexpected
additions
to
the
dishes
that
made
the
familiar
seem
exotic
and
classier
than
you
normally
find
for
lunch
choices.
I
had
a
Sycamore
Village
salad
full
of
healthy
well
dressed
(lemon
vinaigrette)
vegetables
that
included
asparagus,
green
beans,
snap
peas,
and
radishes
with
nutty
arugula
and
bits
of
kale
(perfectly
sized)
with
a
crunch
from
lightly
salted
pistachios
and
anointed
with
Parmesan
Reggiano
cheese.
A
perfectly
cooked
and
seasoned
chicken
breast
was
served
alongside
this
feast
of
vegetables.
I’ll
admit,
I
really
wanted
the
Cuban
but
opted
for
vegetables.
I
am
SO
GLAD
I
did!
If
you
ever
opt
for
what
feels
like
the
healthier
choice
(one
of
Sycamore’s
salads),
you
will
have
a
hearty,
flavorful
meal
that
will
last
you
throughout
your
busy
day.
Go
for
it!
Now.
For
those
of
who
who
say,
I’ve
gotta
have
a
sandwich,
the
Cuban
was
amazing,
according
to
both
my
family
members
who
chose
a
sandwich.
They
specifically
gave
a
shout
out
to
the
tenderness
of
the
pork,
the
sour
local
pickles
and
the
perfectly
crunchy
on
the
outside
and
warm
and
soft
on
the
inside
French
fries.
All
in
all,
this
is
a
place
to
which
you
will
want
to
return
again
and
again.
Just
do
it.
Pick
Sycamore.
You’ll
be
glad
you
did!
