It's been three years since I last stayed here; however, the pandemic has not changed the service of this hotel. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and ready for us. The location is perfect for the event at the convention center.

We stayed one night. The cost wasn't bad. No breakfast, all carpet needs to be changed. Smoke is in the air in some of the rooms. Air purification system needs to be an added feature in every room. This would be at the bottom of choices for me. It is idea to bunk if there is an event in downtown Columbus, Ohio.

I cannot say enough positive things about my experience over a two day and evening stay here. We had tickets to a show near campus. This hotel is about a 10 to 15 minute drive from a lot of major arenas and venues [and a short walk to Nationwide and convention center]. Customer service was top notch. Checking in was surprisingly a breeze. I did not expect such an easy process with it being so congested downtown. We paid for the parking as it's right across the street. Room was a delight as it was a corner room with huge windows and a ton of natural light. Very very quiet from any street noise or traffic. Beds were super comfy. Towels were clean and plush. Water was nice and warm. I'm so glad I stayed here! We go to a lot of hockey games and this is a perfect little gem I've just found!

Stayed in the city for one night at attend the hockey game. Within walking distance to the arena and food. The mini fridge was broken and pillows were what you would expect. Not a big deal and I would stay again for the convenience.

The rooms are very basic. Bathroom fixtures were a bit dated except for the sink which was a bit more updated. Bed was fine. My only issue was that I found myself coughing all night the first night. So I checked the HVAC unit and pulled out the filters which were absolutely filthy. I cleaned them off myself with some warm water and replaced them once dry and the coughing immediately stopped. No problem sleeping the next two nights. This is a common problem at hotels. Nobody seems to be responsible for the regular cleaning of filters which should be done every month or so especially at locations which allow pets. The service was excellent. Front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. They do not have an on site fitness center but you can use a nearby gym through the front desk for free. It's less than a ten minute walk. The gym itself was good. Very urban, a little dirty, but lots of equipment and a cool location right downtown. The hotel does have parking available but the lot is across the street requiring you to walk up to the nearest intersection to cross to the lot (about 3-5 minutes). And it'll cost you another $15 per day (not night from what I can tell so be prepared to add +1 day to your overall stay for the parking fee) The hotel has a great location in the heart of downtown Columbus. Extremely walkable area. For a budget hotel it's a cut above for sure. And the views from our room were great!

Conveniently located within walking distance of the convention center with parking available across the street. The hotel appears clean and maintained but the lobby and breakfast areas are very dark, which makes it feel dingy. The hotel as a whole just looks worn and outdated. It's definitely a lower end hotel and would only fetch ⅓ of it's rates if located anywhere else! Room amenities include coffee maker, MICROWAVE, fridge, blow dryer and iron/ironing board. The beds are comfy enough to get a decent night's rest, showers are hot, and the AC is cold!

Never will I stay here again. 2 stars for the staff. The man and woman that I dealt with were very polite and got to my issues quickly. The sheets were filthy, and when I asked for a new sheet, they only had flat sheets clean. A lady came in and beat on the room beside me at 4:30, yelling for Tyrone. When I politely asked for her not to yell, since my one year old was asleep and had surgery that morning, she started cussing and yelling louder. The room was very dated, and not cleaned well. Parking is also advertised as free, but cost $12. But at least I didn’t have bed bugs.

Not Happy. Used towels were left in the bathroom from who knows... There was a liquid substance on the floors (which was very slippery). And the cost to park was outrageous! We most definitely will Not be returning! By the way, we stayed here a few months earlier and the parking was free and customer service was Better!

The only thing you're getting here is convenience to the city and convention center. I stayed here in 2019 and absolutely adored it. It has certainly taken a hit since then. No breakfast and rooms are barely clean enough to be considered so. For a "non-smoking" hotel, certain spots reeked terribly of cigarettes and marijuana. I will be looking elsewhere to stay in the future. It's really unfortunate that this place ended up how it is now.

Great choice if you're going to the convention center since it's right across the street from it. Also downtown so most things are within walking distance. Rooms were clean and tidy. Staff was friendly and helpful especially J.J over all great experience. Parking is included in your booking just make sure to park in the correct parking lot which is across the street from the hotel.

Should have got an air b&b. When I checked in I was told that the parking lot around the hotel is not for hotel guests and that I would need to park down the road in a separate parking lot. I finished check-in and found not only do you have to park down the road and walk to hotel, but it is charged extra per day. The building itself looks outdated with new amenities strewn throughout. Staff wasn’t rude, but definitely not helpful. Room service had a $20 minimum plus tax, delivery and tip. Final straw is not receiving wake up calls I requested. What hotel doesn’t do wake up calls? Seriously stay at any other hotel in the area if you have the option.

Booked through a third party on 12/29 and 12/30. My initial booking and reservation went fine, and they allowed me an early check in as soon as my room became available. Staff were helpful and accomodating, but what I did not like, has yet to be mentioned. I liked the room so much that I decided to extend my dates for an additional night. After doing so, I asked the front desk if I can apply my extension to my current room, and they told me I could, and just come back before 11am checkout. Did just that, signed the reservation confirmation papers, presented my ID, so it was on file. Once all was confirmed to be good I left and went about my day. Came back later that night and my room key didn't work for parking, so I figured I had to get them swapped out at the front desk. They tried to confirm my identity which was unsuccessful because come to find out, they had put someone in my room and deleted my reservation. They couldn't even find the paper that I signed to confirm my reservation so it must've been thrown out. There was no record of my reservation or my Priceline reservation even though I have the confirmation number and an active reservation. While I enjoyed the time I was able to spend in the room, not being able to spend the second night in the room I had paid for because someone messed up is pretty inconvenient for an untold number of reasons. But the shower was nice, the bed was large and comfy and was the perfect place to be productive.

They gave us the worst room in the whole entire hotel. It was on the first floor, right in front of the elevator and closest to the lobby. I could hardly sleep, all I heard was just people talking in the lobby, people talking in front of the elevator, and elevator noises. We couldn’t sleep at all. I don’t recommend this hotel especially for the price that we paid which was 200 dollars. A guest in a hotel room has a reasonable expectation of privacy. We even asked for a new room and they were no help at all. The room was very poorly designed as well, no double shower curtain, floor was sticky, etc.

Only thing good is the location. I understand this is a 2 ⭐️ hotel, but for the amount they charge, they can afford some upgrades. I upgraded my room to get the premium king, and let me just say, don’t waste your money. Restroom light kept flickering. Told the front desk and they just said sorry, but maintenance was gone. The spa inspired shower….yeah, great play on words. See photos 😢 You have to pay $15 for parking. There is no gym, outside sitting area, or even a coffee station. (There is a vending machine for the coffee) The carpet hadn’t been vacuumed, and the room smelled like a very old hotel. The only benefit…you can walk to a few things. Unfortunately, that is about it, paid $342 plus parking for one night, and it was NOT WORTH the price.

First off, the service was FANTASTIC! Our 3 rooms were incredible. We have to get an ADA room because of my wife's physical disability. The room was immaculate. The staff was very supportive (we came in because of a death).

We stayed at the Red Roof Plus in Columbus Downtown for one night. The staff was very accommodating, the rooms were clean and everything we needed was available. Unfortunately, they use a lot of plain plastic. I hope they will change that soon. Even customers like us need to change the world a little, even if it's just this review about plastic usage.

No gym/workout center on site, need to walk a few minutes to the convention center. $2 forgetful charge automatically applied to the bill that you must request at checkout only to remove, but also the cheapest option close to the convention center. Get what you pay for. My personal room was dingy and faced a brick wall, but I'm sure other rooms are nicer.

JJ was an absolutely amazing!! We had needed to accommodate an extra night that involved separate rooms and he fixed it so we didn’t have to change our rooms during our stay! Besides this, he went above and beyond in excellent customer service and genuine kindness!!

Great staff and service. The room doors slam LOUD unless you hold it while it closes, not good if people come and go at different times. The AC would get extremely loud sometimes and barely kept it comfortable.

RENTER BEWARE. While there is technically "on-site" parking, it is across 4 lanes of traffic and is an additional $15. The charge for parking was not known until check-in. The two double bed room is nice and spacious. All staff encountered were pleasant.

Needed a spot to sleep. The hotel was clean and close to downtown (walked to Kemba). $15 uncovered lot across the street. Nothing fancy, think beige, but served the purpose for which I booked.

  • 2/5 Angela P. 8 months ago on Google
The location is great for dining and shows. We were seeing a show at Kemba Live and it was only a 15 minute walk from Red Roof. The downside is that many people missed their dinner reservations prior to the show because of how long it to for the check-in process. I waited in a long line for over an hour to check-in. The staff was friendly and I don't blame them. they said they weren't allowed to start checking anyone in until 3:00pm (which is check-in time). As far as the room goes, it was hot, even when adjusting the temperature.

I hate leaving negative reviews but need to share so others can make an intentional decision about staying here The good: bathrooms are clean. Shower, toilet and sink work well. A/C also works well! There is a dedicated work area with a desk/office chair. There is also a working microwave. The distance to the convention center is a short walk and very convenient. The bad: there was leftover spaghetti left in the fridge by the previous guest and the fridge is barely cold. When I called up to the front desk, they shared that their maintenance person had left for the day but they did send someone up to feel the temp and assured me it was “cold”. They said they would send their maintenance person the next day but I was never contacted about this. There is a light post outside in the parking lot and the bulb is flickering for the third night in a row which means we have a strobe light inside the room. The beds are old and sinking. The pillows are old and flat. The really bad: The walls are paper thin and all the doors close very loudly—not even ear plugs help. The family next door has a barking dog, kids running up and down the hallway, music playing, relentless movement and thumping at 1:00am. A noise complaint did nothing. Overall, you get what you pay for. Service is lacking. Things are old and need replacement. If basic if what you need, it may work out but I wouldn’t come back

Great location and hospitality. Front desk staff were efficient and accommodating. Allowed us to check in early and gave us an easy access room on the first floor to accommodate our tandem bike. If you are cycling the Ohio to Erie Trail, this is the place to stay in Columbus. Thank you for enhancing our travels. Cheryl and Al

ZERO security at all....I'd feel safer/happier sleeping on a park bench at night. Should be called Red Roof Minus 100 because there is nothing plus about this place at all. Unsafe, unprofessional you couldn't pay me to ever visit this place again. Pathetic 1 star motel if that... After walking to me and my Mothers room I was being provoked to fight some stranger who got mad because I would't give him data from my phone and come to his room??? Right outside of our room door in front of the so called "security" camera. Front desk people lie and/or not competent because they couldn't see the footage. (Camera right in front of room) I think they probably help these possible human traffickers or just look the other way after our Horrible experience. BUT corporate saw the entire video footage. Front desk said they "investigated" the situation lmao... If your into fighting strangers, overpriced hotels, walking your pets across glass/broken bottles and Human Trafficking this is the place for you..My Mom was terrified to even leave the room. She was calling the front desk for help and no one even came up at all and if they did..it was when the halls were empty. Dirty towels sat in the hallway for our two night stay. They could't even put a lightbulb in the lamp after calling them. I could go on and on but this would be paragraphs. PURE HELL

Great location a short walk from Nationwide Arena. The room was nice, comfy king bed, power outlets in nightstands on both sides of the bed. Parking was across the street in a reserved lot for $15/night. The only issue was someone had forgotten to supply bath towels! We'd stay again.

Our go to place in Columbus. The staff is helpful and very friendly! Rooms are quiet and comfortable. A great stay every time!

Well, it's a Red Roof, right? Can't exactly expect four star accommodations. That said, this RR is VERY conveniently located next to the Convention Center and the Front Desk rep was courteous and friendly. Only mar was a handwritten note from the housekeeper to put a tip in the cream/sugar/stirrer basket. I found that a little off-base and presumptuous, especially as I was only staying one night and the instructions when checking in was I have to CALL room service if I actually wanted my room clean! Really, I'm, supposed to tip you for cleaning the room for the NEXT guest?

JJ checked us in and was great! He was so helpful and kind. The rooms are fine. We have all we need. I will say that the lobby smells really strongly of vanilla and it’s too much. Parking is not convenient as it’s across a large street, but you can at least unload first. It is close to the convention center, which was our priority. And it’s a decent price. There isn’t a restaurant and therefore, no breakfast. You can get food delivered. All in all, not a bad choice.

  • 3/5 Robin M. 1 year ago on Google
Not great but just okay. It really turned me off that the parking lot is across the street. Doesn’t make me feel too secure. Our room had a smoke odor even though it said 100% smoke free. Cleanliness could be improved. But this location was close to our attractions and the hotel itself was quiet and reasonably priced.

“You get what you paid for” I personally think that having bed bugs falls far below what we paid for this stay. On top of that: -Parking is $10 a day. And it’s across the street, which is 4 lanes wide and the sidewalk is at the end of the block. -The floor had not been vacuumed, and we could feel the dirt whenever we walked on the carpet. -The bathroom had no lock. -The sink had no countertop, it was just hanging on the wall with everything underneath visible. The pipes were barely being held together by zip ties. -The bathtub leaked all over the floor. -The elevator made a concerning noise whenever we used it, it did not feel safe. -One of the lights above the bed was hanging partially out of place and half of them didn’t work. -We had an accessible room (which we did not request). -There was very little surface space to sit anything down besides the floor. I had to put the alarm clock under the nightstand so I could put other things on the small space I had there. -We were only provided with “face soap” and shampoo. No hand soap, lotion or conditioner. We did not have any issues with the staff themselves, but this place is in horrible condition and I would absolutely not recommend staying here until they at LEAST get rid of the bed bugs.

When I booked this property the listing said FREE parking. The front desk employee literally told us that that’s just what the internet says. Parking is actually $12. By this time we are stuck paying for parking!! Check in is listed as 3pm. We attempted to check in at 4:15 but they didn’t have our room ready. So I paid for parking and was given a fob to open the gate and return to the lobby for our room keys. The clerk said it would be ready in 15 minutes. We drove to the parking lot and the fob doesn’t work. My husband was stuck in line, holding up traffic. We used the call button but the person on the other end couldn’t help me. I called the front desk but was put on hold so abruptly that I couldn’t get a word in edge wise. Finally I had to leave the car (still blocking the line) and walk across 4 lanes of traffic and two parking lots back to the hotel. After the clerk activated the fob we were able to park. We unloaded our luggage and walked back to the hotel again. I waited in line in the lobby… again. There was one front desk worker who clearly didn’t recognize me because he let me stand in line and wait behind 4 other groups before I finally made it back to the desk. At 4:50 he hands me a room key. Up to the room finally! The room was dirty. The floors and mini fridge were dirty. The headboard was dirty. There was a cigarette burn in the blanket. The lids didn’t fit the mini disposable coffee cups in the room and there was no coffee downstairs.

Non smoking hotel? My guest room smelled horrible from cigarettes! The hallways reaked of marijuana. This used to be my hotel choice because of the location. Not so much anymore. It appears to be poorly maintained.

Rooms are sub-par, showing significant wear and tear. One of the beds in the room was lopsided from one side to the other. Desk service is friendly and polite, but understaffed - we consistently ran into long lines when we needed help at the front desk.

1 ply toilet paper, couldn't hook my Nintendo switch to TV, uncomfortable blankets, found trash in our room. Fridge didn't have minim freezer in it. I'm not saying they need a large fridge but at least get a mini fridge that can hold frozen things. Room looked like a 13 year old did the lay out for the table space. Top of toilet not secure. One of the doors doesn't open properly outside, and they don't enforce any of the policies they say about not smoking in front of building.

  • 2/5 Kim B. 2 years ago on Google
The bath tub was dirty. The carpet was dirty. The walls were dirty. The sink didn't drain well. The parking is not free and it is across the street.

  • 5/5 Brendan B. 1 year ago on Google
I got the upgraded room with the snacks and nicer bedding and I will say it was worth the extra $10 bucks! The front desk people were very kind! Paying $12 to park across the street is a little bit of a head ache but you’re in the city, I’m sure all the other hotels in the area have pay to park set ups as well! All that being said, there is still no continental breakfast? I feel that should be back by now, assuming the reason is because of the pandemic. All in all it’s a great stay! Check it out! Cheers!

This is one of the few diminishing corporate locations remaining it seems. If this brand /company had more locations like here, they may have a better reputation. This is a solid example of what this brand should be- simple, yet modern, fairly clean and a good value compared to the completion nearby. It's not flawless and it's nothing remarkable, but it does its intended purpose and does it well. Keep up the good work.

Great affordable place to stay in downtown Columbus! The hotel lobby area and room was very clean. The bed was really comfortable, good sized television, and even had a mini fridge for drinks! The location was perfect, very close to many bars/restaurants and arenas/stadiums. Would definitely stay again!

  • 3/5 Maddie H. 1 year ago on Google
We chose this hotel because it was the cheapest option in the area. Unfortunately we didn't realize this meant no amenities, and an extra fee for parking. The room was tight but it was clean. Paid parking at your own risk! Our vehicle was hit in the lot (signs posted say there is surveillance but there is not).

  • 2/5 dion k. 1 year ago on Google
I will start by saying every staff member I encountered was pleasant. I also love the amber scented air freshener that is wafting through the hallways. The location is fairly central but that is where the good ends. Honestly Motel 6 offers comparable accommodations for half the price so you could use the savings and rent a car and won't have to pay for parking like you do at this place. There is no continental breakfast despite the description on the site, they did state that there would be coffee upon my arrival but 2 of my 6 day stay there wasn't. Housekeeping is by request only, the fitness center they boast is an off-property gym so due to the cold weather I didn't visit it because l brought workout clothes to walk down the hall not down the street. Downtown Columbus is becoming very upscale, this property is not keeping up.

No breakfast. No cleaning unless you ask. That means no daily coffee or toiletries unless you ask. A note on the desk said this was current industry standard. I call bull. The room smells like cigarettes (mentioned in several reviews) and late check out is $25. This is obviously a money maker for someone as they are obviously not spending it on services or staff.

  • 4/5 Jenny K. 1 year ago on Google
I chose this hotel because it was the cheapest in the location I wanted. I was a bit concerned that would mean terrible accommodations, but I needed to be cheap. The hotel was thankfully better than I expected. The room is spacious, clean, the beds are comfortable, and there is a microwave and a mini fridge. I can’t confirm any other amenities as we were literally just here to sleep. The reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is as many others stated in their reviews, you have to pay for parking. We paid $12 a day, which isn’t bad at all for downtown parking, but it was an expense I wasn’t expecting. Oh also, their two-bed rooms are full size beds not queens like every other hotel I’ve been to, so take that into consideration if you’re hoping for two adults to sleep in one bed.

Amazing, I stayed here after Ohayocon because the weather was terrible and my ride had gotten into an accident on the way to pick me up. Staff was friendly, and allowed us to stay in the lobby after check out to wait for our ride. Couldn't be happier. Beds were clean, room smelled great, bathroom was amazing. Only con I have is I wish they had bigger towels, but that's nothing they can control. Cheap, only 85 bucks for the night. I'd recommend this to anyone who needs to stay downtown and on a budget.

  • 1/5 Ethan K. 2 years ago on Google
Our premium room was far from it. The sealed guest premium snack was already open in its box. Only 1 of 2 lamps worked. The floor was sticky to the touch. The picture of the charging ports did not match what was in the room. The carpet was dirty. Paint missing everywhere. The cabinets and drawers were full of dirt and dust. We lost power for half a day and nobody notified us. The fridge barely got cold enough to make a drink bearable, and the AC unit sounded like a jet taking off. I don't expect much from red roof inns but for 110$ a night I expect the tables to be wiped off, vacuumed, and mopped.

I'm a hockey fan so if you're traveling for a game to stay one night go for it is cheap and you are 5 minutes walk from the Columbus blue jackets 😉... but I swear the city is boring nothing to do around not a tourist destination nothing to buy I saw one convenient store, a few restaurants near by that about it, but the city is nice and clean but not much attraction to do for me . But the hotel was clean and cozy staff are nice I arrived early and she booked me in right away at 11:45 a.m didn't have to wait until 3.

We got a room near the convention center to watch a show. I thought $175 per night was a bit steep but worth being within walking distance. Everything was fine until I got up in the morning and killed not one, not two, but three cockroaches! Told the front desk and she said she was only able to refund my parking fee of $14 because I booked through a third party (Priceline). Called Priceline and they said they'd send me a coupon for 15% off the next stay. Priceline sends coupons all the time! That doesn't cover having to fumigate my van which I also use for delivering food as a Caterer and having to empty my luggage out in the driveway afraid I would bring roaches into my house. Find another place to stay. Not the roach motel!

  • 3/5 Dan P. 1 year ago on Google
A perfectly reasonable hotel just minutes from the convention center: clean rooms, lots of power outlets, fridge and microwave are handy for snacks and leftovers. They let us check in early and staff were courteous throughout the weekend. Pillows are a bit weak and rooms that claim to sleep four adults may not do so comfortably, since the beds are on the small side. However, like all hotels in the area, they surge-price for conventions. And if I'm going to be charged a luxury price for a standard business hotel, I have to assign a star rating based on what I was charged. At that tier, it's just okay. Also annoying to show up and be told "our lot may be full." Like... I'm coming from out of town for a thing and paying 2-3 times the normal rate for a room; do something about your lot allocation.
